My Goodnight Book
This was my favorite bedtime book as a child. I still have the copy that my parents used to read to me.

Wonderful story & quickly read. Just what parents love.
This book was my middle daughter's favorite. Now its my 2 year olds favorite. A very simple book that is very quick to read. I've read the story so often I know it by heart. Wonderful story of a little girl getting ready to say Goodnight. I love this book as do my two girls.

It gives my daughter a "warm and cozy" feeling.
When we had an unexpected late addition to our family, we dug this book back out and started reading it to her. It wasn't until then that I realized how special this book was. My 9 year old daughter sighed and said, "I love this book. It always gave me such a warm and cozy feeling." What high praise for a book with only seven sentences!

Stedman's Orthopaedic & Rehab Words
This book is wonderful. I recommend highly to anyone who does orthopaedic/rehab dictation. I ordered a copy for my partner who had little medical terminology knowledge and she has found it more than beneficial. It is extremely well cross-referenced and an asset to any transcriptionist's library. Thanks Stedman!

Excellent!
This is a wonderful book for any medical transcriptionist! I started working for another orthopaedist and he's a bit more "progressive" than my other clients. This book is invaluable! I highly recommend it!

A must have reference book for medical transcriptionist.
I am a medical transcriptionist for several doctors offices and a hospital. I transcripe dictation from Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, orthopaedic and Rehab from doctors and therapists. This book has everything I have ever needed so far and I am ordering one for a fellow transcriptionist for her to add to her reference books. The sample reports included, tables and anatomical illustrations are fantasic. This one is a must! Thanks for making my job easier!

A Bundle of Fun
this is so good of a book its fun to read and the lion is a sucker for carrot stew kids of all ages will love this book

Very fun to read
What a wonderful and fun story this is. I love reading this book to my daughter and have read it to her in whole or part dozens of times. Since it is a joy to read and the story flows page to page, I don't mind reading it to her again and again even if she'll only sit still for a few pages (she's currently only 6 ½ months old).
While I understand that to make finding things easier books for children get categorized by age (and this one is in the 4 to 8) don't be misled into thinking that this book isn't suitable for babies or toddlers, they simply need someone to read it to them. I love this book and if she chews and tears the pages I'll gladly buy another.

The Tawny Scrawny Lion is worthwhile children's literature.
I've been reading this book to my first graders for years. It never fails to inspire lively discussion on such topics as friendship, sharing, trust, and a host of other worthy subjects. The story is fun, and the messages are gentle, but my six year olds never fail to pick up on them. This is a story that has been around since my childhood and it is as entertaining and fresh a story as it was then. I highly recommend this book.

An excellent book, fabulous poems, fantastic illustrations
I love Golden Books, I grew up on them. When I got older I figured out why - Eloise Wilkin was the best illustrator! I had many of books with her illustratons. I used to think that they were actually about me, that is how wonderful her aristry is! When I found this book, I knew that I had to buy this for my baby. As it is, reading is one of the most important things that you can do for your baby, so I love to sit down and read the poems to my 8 month old son. This book just can't be beat.

Best book of poetry for young children
This is the best collection of poems for children and the illustrations cannot be beat. Bought this book 20 years ago for grandchildren and now are buying more for their children. I am so glad it is back in print.

My Favorite Book of Poetry!
This is a simply exceptional book! It called be called nothing less than a "classic." Every child and adult will want to read these poems again and again. I still quote from the poems, "Bedtime" and "High-heeled Shoes," more than twenty years after I first learned them. I can't wait to read these poems to my own children someday!

Someone has finally put my thoughts into writing!
I am taking a PhD class in organizational communications from the University of South Florida and one of the topics we covered in the class was corporate reputation. My interest in that specific area spilled over into that topic being applied to the church. I have started with the question, "What impacts the reputation of the church?" and the answer points to the presence of the body of faith in service to it's community. It is actually my major project for the semester. This book is being used as a resource for that paper as it solidified that thoughts for me.

This book has put into words much of what I have thought, implemented, taught and preached for the past 5 years. It is as monumental to my thoughts towards ministry as Warren's Purpose Driven Church and George Hunter's Church for the Unchurch. If you can read just one book on church leadership this year, read this one. It will challenge you and may place you outside your comfort zone, but it will help move your church towards impacting and influencing your community in ways that please God and grow His kingdom.

The "How to" of Intentional Discipleship
This is an extremely important book, as it tells the story of one church's metamorphosis from a typical 20th century church to a church with truly "Irresistible Influence" in its community.

It tells the story in a very well-written, easy-to-read way, of the Fellowship Bible Church of Little Rock, Arkansas.

A church that is truly striving to "make disciples" in the manner that Jesus intended when He gave His disciples that Commission.

It is a breath of fresh air, and it inspired me to: try to persaude my own church to adopt their approach; or find a church-planting group that is using these principles, and join them.

Inspiring! Five stars!

The Book of Irresistible Influence
Although I am the first person to review this landmark book, I will not be the last. As one who is a student of what God is doing through churches in our communities, I am greatly impressed about what the faith community of Little Rock is doing to build "incarnational bridges" into their community. I personally believe this will be the next wave for churches. If you are interested in this process I can recommend a couple of books that have a similar story:
The Church that Never Sleeps by Matthew Barnett
Meeting Needs, Sharing Christ by Charles Roesel
City Reaching by Jack Dennison
Urban Churches: Vital Signs by Nile Harper
Recently, 25 pastors in Boulder County, who are committed to its spiritual transformation, received a copy of this book. If we apply the principles in this book, our community will never be the same!

Circus at the Edge of the Earth

I simply and totally LOVED this book
Very well written, and fascinating. The author gives the reader an 'insider' view of the circus world; this includes an objective and respectful portrayal of the brave and talented people. I appreciated the honest perspectives, i.e., hearing 'the other side of the story' in terms of animal rights. It is a beautiful, touching, absolutely fantastic story.

A Fantastic Read
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book, from the subject matter to the personality of the author to the quality of the writing, which is excellent. At times, it reads as luridly and poetically as a novel. If you are enamored of the circus, as I am, and would like to run away with one for a while--even if only in your imagination--this is the book for you.

A terrific read, by turns hilarious and poignant
For a month in spring 1997, Wilkins traveled with the Great Wallenda Circus, a gritty group of seasoned circus vets, on a trip through a remote stretch of Canada. Facing such obstacles as unyielding immigration regulations (for both animals and performers), unprecedented flooding with unseasonable temperatures, and fierce competition from another circus, the Wallenda performers (led by Karl's grandson, Ricky Wallenda) show their merit as troupers in the truest sense of the word. Interspersed with descriptions of the circus's performances in the often-chilly and poorly lit hockey venues of Manitoba are the stories of the circus's performers and crew, each of which reveals a different facet of the daily dangers of circus life: unpredictable (and sometimes in-bred) tigers, vendetta-holding elephants, unstable rigging for aerial acts, and the omnipresent fatigue that can make a performer misstep minutely, but fatally. Beyond these dangers, however, is another threat to the circus's performers, which Wilkins chronicles beautifully and movingly: the decline and fall of the circus in America. It's a casualty with complex causation, including the senescence of Shriners (who sponsor a large number of American circus performances), the rise of the animal rights movement, and the effect of television, with its showy tromp l'oeil special effects, on our expectations for entertainment. Is watching a 370-pound man put an elderly, blind elephant through a series of slow-moving tricks enough of a thrill for audiences raised on car chases and gunfire? Wilkins thinks so, and after reading this wonderful book, so do I.

Could this book rock any harder?
I love this book! I picked it up at the library and had to buy a copy of my very own. Detailed, month-by-month directions for caring for the best southern plants. I highly suggest this for anyone in the south for easy to use, definitive directions for keeping your plants happy and healthy.
Go Will Rehder, Jr.!

Informatively written, superbly presented
Profusely illustrated with more than one hundred color photographs by Freda H. Wilkins, Henry Rehder's Growing A Beautiful Garden: A Landscape Guide For The Coastal Carolinas is an informatively written, superbly presented, "reader friendly" compendium of horticultural advice and insights for establishing a flourishing and esthetically pleasing regional garden landscape. Gardening expert Rehder offers a wealth of practical ideas and suggestions for choosing and maintaining plants that will thrive under coastal conditions and offers a step-by-step, month-by-month guide for more than a hundred ornamental shrubs, trees, perennials, and lawngrasses. Very highly recommended for personal and professional gardening, landscaping, and horticultural reference collections, Growing A Beautiful Garden also covers the mechanics of plant installation, weeds, insects, diseases, animal pests, and fertilizers.

Great reference book for coastal Carolinas
I was excited to see a book published that was specific to the coastal area of the Carolinas. The book contains information on all of the most common landscape plants used in the area including a month by month guide to the care for each species. It has been very helpful to me in planning and caring for my "garden."

Paddle to the Amazon

The best adventure I have ever read
It is hard to believe this actually happened, but with the detailed composition of Don Starkell and his son's journey, the reality is true - and frightening. More of a test of human endurance than "Alive", this book is a must read for anyone who ever wondered how strong a will can be. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about the riverways and cultures that inhabit them, from Winnipeg, Canada to the Amazon River. A must read.

Father and Sons Adventure, Danger, True Grit
I read this book three times over the years. This book is a must read, especially for father's and son's. Interaction between siblings, the love and pride the father holds for his sons, and vise versa. The challenge of the test was crucial in this book. The endurance unbelievable. The goal was focused. The strangers they met along the journey showed compassion and in their way contributed to the long journey with pride. Respect for father, respect for sons was observed. In away it was seasoned with mystery of what was around the next bend. Danger lurked in their midst. The dynamics of family was strong. I am lending my hardcover to a retired college professor, who is planning a much shorter journey by canoe with his two sons. During my reads of this work I felt the adventure with indepth observation of the different actions taken by the father and sons, during times of tension and fear of the unknown.. This book is exciting because it is REAL, about ordinary! REAL people in the REAL world without fabrication of a myth. A page turner, with definite purpose. Should be a mandatory read for all young men and fathers, as well as mothers. It is certainly an honor to read a real book with substance. I'm proud of the author to bring this work to the forefront for the reading public.

Excellent novel, with a great flow of events!
"Paddle to the Amazon" is a brilliant novel which should be read not only by canoeing enthusiasts, but by anyone who appreciates a book of quality, and adventure. Don and Dana Starkell have my greatest respect, and I look forward to reading his next book.

A Minor Mistake
Kafka is certainly a good writer, I think. But there is only one thing I can't understand: This book is not Blue. I have no problem with its color, but I was expecting something blue which would fit nicely on my shelf. It is most probably a minor point. But I think we can say of it: How can we Believe anything in this Book if it lies to us about its Cover?

Indispensable
Definitely not the first Kafka text one should select--but arguably the second or third (behind The Stories and The Trial.) This collection represents the closest Kafka came to helping the reader unlock the impossibilities of interpretation in his fiction. For this reason alone it's worth a look, though there are many wonderful and hilarious moments that rank with the best of K's work.

And to the gentleman from Ontario (review, Oct. 18/99) who fretted over the color of the volume in question (and the publisher's good faith): you haven't been reading your Kafka. On page 35 you'll find the following: "There are only two things. Truth and lies. Truth is indivisible, hence it cannot recognize itself; anyone who wants to recognize it has to be a lie." This volume's (non) color is Kafkaesque in the best sense of the term. EXACT CHANGE should be congratulated on their superior understanding of a masterful writer!

Not Everyone Can See the Truth, But He Can Be It
In the last year I have fallen in love with Franz Kafka's writings, starting with "The Trial." His works are the most truthful, soul-searching, endless, funny, and haunting tales ever written. I bought "The Blue Octavo Notebooks" not knowing what to expect. Were these to be second-rate scribblings published only to profit off Kafka's name? Not at all. These journals are as brilliant, if not better, than Kafka's stories. They reveal a complex man who was constantly challenging himself, trying to find the meaning of art, goodness, evil, truth, human nature, the eternal, and life. The entries, many of them only one or two lines, are deep meditations that allow the reader to probe into Kafka's, and the reader's, mind. Even the unfinished story fragments are nuggets of pure genius. The notebooks are intensely mystical, but frighteningly real -- like everything else in the world of Kafka's literature.

Toddler loves
Since my little boy has been 2 he wants this book to read just before bed. The rhyme is sweet and simple, though you should know that the book is very short and the rhymes aren't great..."how many hairs...millions, billions, trillions..." ahhh, a bit ridiculous, but all that matters is my little boy is happy.

THIS IS A WONDEFUL BOOK!
MY DAUGHTER LOVES THIS BOOK. THE WORDS ARE SIMPLE, THE PICTURES ARE BEAUTIFUL, AND THE CONCEPT IS ONE ANY CHILD CAN UNDERSTAND. HANNAH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A READER, BUT THIS WAS ONE OF HER FIRST, AND SHE STILL LOVES IT.

Beautiful illustrations!
This simple, short book has wonderful, sweet illustrations! It is my 20 month old's favorite... she actually brings it to me AND will sit in my lap withOUT the book and show me all the body parts used in the book. The above review is excellent! I love to give this as a gift. I highly highly recommend it. :)
