A wonderful book!
I really enjoyed the book "the boy trap", and I think anyone would. The characters are amazing, and so is the story. Prooving that girls are better than boys is not easy, and that is what some children think when they are young.

What I like the most about this book is the touch of romance, that takes place while trying to prove that females are better than males. In this book, Emma finds out that someone that she considers quite stupid, is much better than what she thought. I enjoyed this book a lot, and recomend it to anyone who likes books where you can see kids' points of view about certain things.

Truly original, wonderfully delightful reading.
Emma's always known girls are better than boys, but knowingsomething isn't the same as proving it scientifically. So when the 5thgrade science fair gives her the chance to find her proof, she launchesthe most talked-about school project Kennedy Elementary has ever seen. But Emma needs the valiant assistance of her best friend, Louise, when she discovers two boys have set out to show the opposite -- that boys are superior to girls! Soon the school's peace is shattered by a full-scale gender war. Worse still, all of Emma's experiments seem inconclusive. Her project leaves her in danger of failing 5th grade! Nancy Matson's debut novel for young readers is truly original, wonderfully delightful, and enjoyably enhanced by Michael Chesworth's charming line drawings.

A Review by Ms Dorego's fourth grade -Abington, MA
We just finished reading this great book titled The Boy Trap by Nancy Matson. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. The book is fun to read because it has a race, and inventors' contest and a science project. We were surprised by the amazing results at the end of the race. Most of us liked the part when Tommy spit gum in Emma's hair because it was funny. Some of us didn't enjoy this part because Emma's hair was her best feature. Another thing that we approved was when Emma's hair grew back because she didn't have to wear that hat anymore. Most of us liked when Emma was on the swing and her notebook slipped off her lap. We loved when Louise made a boy trap because it made the vice principal smile. The best part was when Louise and Emma worked together to build the boy trap. We would recommend this book to 5th graders and anyone who enjoys science.

Recommend for everyone searching for truth, love, and laughs
Nancy McCoy's Butterflies Do Not Sleep in Hot Tubs, A Lawyer's Tortured Search For Truth is a great read - and not just for lawyers. The stories in her book share truly diverse nuggets of wisdom and laughter. From the silly inside jokes of a long, loving marriage to the laughter shared among co-workers to a fable about a dysfunctional family in the true Grimm style, McCoy explores the range of relationships with their ups and downs. She inspires others who have experienced failure and disappointment by sharing her own setbacks and subsequent successes. She pricks readers' consciences as she reveals her own awakening to social responsibility. And when she does share stories from her experience as a lawyer, she efficiently translates the law jargon for the uninitiated.
Above, all, Butterflies... is a very entertaining book. The chapters are short self-contained stories that even the busiest person can enjoy a bite at a time. Each character comes alive through the author's storytelling and is both real and familiar to the reader. I have already shared this book with several of my family members and would recommend it to everyone who is searching for truth, love, and laughter in life.

Spiritual and Irreverant, also charming and enlightening
Butterflies is about an intelligent and introspective lady lawyer's search for the truth in her life and her chosen profession--the law. From the moment you read the title you realize that you must go on. You are intrigued by both the cover and the title. Then my suggestion is to read the titles of each short story or vignette--there are thirty-nine all together. This too will draw you in. Next, read her acknowledgements at the end, they are hilarious and entertaining as well. This should prepare you for what you are about to receive.

Butterflies is thoughtful and poignant, and yet it captures the very essence of what makes life interesting and funny and worth living. It captures the 'small good things' that keep us going. Everyday moments are not lost in this spiritual and extraordinary revelation. Nancy McCoy's characters are people we all know and identify with. It will leave you with a bitter-sweet feeling and a desire to meet the characters and the author.

There are remarkable sagas and crusades that will inspire you long after you have read Butterflies. You will come to the realization that the author is a good person with good intentions and a heart as big as Harry Chapin's. You shall become familiar with this ballad singer once you read Butterflies--if you are not already.

Nancy McCoy uses terms like recovering Catholic--very funny to those of us who were or still are of this faith. She inquires, "Where were you?" which refers to your status when JFK was killed.

I can't remember a time when I laughed out loud so much during the course of one read. Nor have I been forced to review my own life and circumstances before, during and after a novel.

Loving all the stories, it's difficult to choose one as my favorite. Let's just say that the one I identified with was "The People Who Like to Jump." Well, I'm like Nancy McCoy. I like to be with the people who like to jump. You may have to be an attorney to get the gist of this particular story once you've read it, but I don't think so. Butterflies should have a general appeal to all readers.

The greatest compliment I can give Nancy McCoy as an attorney/writer/human being is this: You are an inspiration and one-of-a-kind individual. Once you were made--they broke the mold.

Inspiring, yet Truthful. Encouraging, yet Real.
This is one fantastic book and one intriguing author. I've read many books, and ever since I began practicing law the only types of books that I have been able to get to have been inspirational, miracle-filled stories. Mostly because I need the positive feedback somewhere in my life. However, I have always felt removed from those stories. McCoy offers me a touch of inspiration, mixed in with incredible wit and soft-hearted humor that touches upon everyone's heart, not just a law-infested individual. Her stories are provocative enough to make you think, kind hearted enough to make you smile, and encouraging enough to make you want to read one page after another. I haven't enjoyed a more thought-inspiring, smile-inducing collection of stories. This is truly a book one should get and enjoy, over and over. Kudos to McCoy for allowing readers a chance to enjoy what they are reading while learning, reminsicing and hoping.

The Review
This book has excellent pictures with the most vital information for a biography project. A great buy and great read for interested fans of Ol' Blue Eyes.

A MARVELLOUS SCAPBOOK
This scrapbook is a real treat to any true SINATRA fan.It is full of pictures of everybody who was important in his life from his parents to collaborators like arrangers NELSON RIDDLE; all his wifes from NANCY to BARBARA;the legendary LOUIS B. MAYER etc.Better than most biographies because it is based on facts not rumours. The early pictures from his beginnings are alone worth the price.I was fortunate enough to get this book at the third of it's price and i went through it very fast because once you open it, you simply can't take your hands out of it.If FRANK became the singer of the past century, it's not by accident, he worked hard at it.I was particulary touched by his loyalty to his true friends.FRANK SINATRA is a mirror of his country. He was the son of immigrants who lived the AMERICAN dream to the fullest.Where is the AMERICAN dream today now that it's last legend is gone?Let's not complain too much ,because everything that FRANK SINATRA ever recorded is now available on cd.Nostalgia when you think of it is a very good thing.SATURDAY is not the loneliest night of the week anymore thanks to the chairman of the board. If you are not already a fan, this book should do the trick.

Everything you want to know about Frank is in this Book
I had to get this book after seeing how low the price came down. The original price was 40 dollars. Nancy Sinatra's book on her Father has everything in here.I couldn't believe Frank weighted 13and a half pounds when he was born on December 12,1915.The Doctor ripped and scarred his ear, check, and neck, plus puncturing his eardrum.Frank wasn't breathing,so his grandmother Rose held the baby under cold running water until he gasped his first breath and cried. This book is like a Diary. It goes from year to year, sometimes month to month. All of Franks movies, records, concerts,TV shows, songs, and the name of the songwriters are in here, plus hundreds of pictures, starting with Frank's baby photo, ending with a touching family photo taken in 1996.There's a wonderfull picture of Marilyn Monroe taken with Dean Martin sitting ringside at the Sands..All of the stars are in here, and family pictures we've never seen before. If you are a Frank Sinatra fan,you have to get this Book. Its huge, and the pictures are fantastic.

A Real Charmer
At 50 I'm still the fantasy freak in the house and found this book as enchanting and enjoyable as any I've read. My wife the murder mystery consumer was totally enthralled by the tale when searching for a diversion from her regular reading. We've both read the tale more than once and have made present to one of our nephews of a hard back version of the book, that's how much we liked it. When you finish reading this book you set it down with a feeling of satisfaction, that everything wrapped up quite nicely, and wonder if there will be another to follow.

A story for all the ages... Here there bee dragons...
I have had my copy of this book for over 10 years now. My mother read it to my younger siblings and me when I was a tweenage girl. I pick it up and read it every few years and have also read it to my son. He thought it was great, too.

It's a great, old-fashioned fairytale set in today's world. Be warned - It is not an everyone gets along in the end story. The ending ends as it should with everyone getting exactly what they deserve. It makes you wish that there was a little book dragon looking over your shoulder.

I would recommend this book to adults and children alike. It has a moral message that a child as young as 4 or 5 would get but has enough levels to keep everyone entertained.

Books and Dragons--my favorite things
I found this book as an adult, but I was totally enchanted, and it became the start of my collection of dragons. This rates with Anne McCaffrey's dragons--friendly dragons. This tale is so enjoyable, yet not predictable. Moral, but not preachy. And kids will love the good guy/bad guy tension.
This is a book every child (and most adults) should have the pleasure of having in their life.

Finally an intelligent way to eat.
Having been on every diet in the world,I finally came to my own conclusion that diets simply don't work. I was delighted to find that "Choose To Lose" not only agrees, but encourages you not to weigh yourself and simply eat generous amounts of good, whole, naturally low fat nutritious food. Since I threw my scale out and began following the basic guidelines of "Choose To Lose", I've lost weight, gained back my self-respect and have enormous energy with a steady stable mood throughout the day. Throw out all your diet books and choose to live right now!!

CTL: A Blueprint for Improved Health
I am a community health educator within a nonprofit health promotion organization. We utilize the Goor's Choose To Lose program as a cornerstone component in our cardiosvascular disease prevention campaign. The book provides a simple and logical understanding concerning diet and diet-related topics. As an instructor, I find the book and program very effective in educating people about the importance of proper eating habits and the effect of eating on weight and overall health. I tell my class participants that the program ensures success, the only question is their willingness and ability to follow the guidelines. Simply, put Choose To Lose works!

Healthy eating for a lifetime!
I lost 84 pounds in 13 months using this diet along with exercise. I have kept it off for more than 4 years without feeling deprived. Food is no longer the constant focus of my life but something I use to fuel my body. It's great advice and uses real food not bars and powders!

Roll Your Own Miracles (?)
Quick - what's the first thing that comes to mind when you find yourself in a bind? The frantic search for someone to blame? The feeling of victimhood? The lengths to which we are willing to stretch reason in order to find someone else responsible for our woes is nearly comical.

This book is as close as you can get to a "how-to" book for miracles. The exalted "A Course In Miracles" is quoted freely in this work, establishing its secure underpinnings in the metaphysics of higher realities (a.k.a. miracles). The key: miracles are a CHOICE.

If life is a series of lessons, choosing the "path less taken" often means a conscious decision to see a situation in a completely different light. This might entail compassion for the oppressor, awareness of the "big picture" and the wellbeing of all concerned, or simply a complete surrender to a loving Higher Power. (Interestingly, completely "losing it" later on seems to be OK). When this loving attitude is chosen as the response to a crisis, the lesson may be "called off" as it were. You got it. You passed the test. No need to go further.

This is a wonderful book - one that should be read by everybody as an antidote for the "eye for an eye" mentality of the world-mind.

A treasure guide to living with grace and freedom
Creating Miracles excited me to the core of my being. I have seen and felt its principles operating in my life and have learned that we all have the power to access a spiritual and mental state that allows us to surrender to God/Spirit and find the path to living a passionate, purpose-filled, and yes, miracle-filled life.

In Creating Miracles, Carolyn Miller provides the keys to help us see, understand and find our way through the maze that is life and to take an active role in consciously creating our own miracles. It is one of the most valuable books I have read because it fills my world with the grace and freedom that comes from learning how to live with peace and serenity, trusting that all is as it should be in this moment, and knowing how to create a more desirable future.

I have recommended Creating Miracles to many many friends and given it as gifts. I share it's principles with my hospice patients and virtually everyone I come in contact with. Simply said, it works!

How to bring miracles into your daily life
I love the way Carolyn Miller tells real-life stories of miraculous occurrences with the thoughts and feelings of the people experiencing the miracles. Miller captures the emotional spark and personality of those involved, and gives us a front-row seat as miracles unfold. Many of these stories describe people who survived accidents and escaped assaults in situations where they easily might have died or been seriously injured instead. Miller explains how changes in people's thinking leads to changes in the circumstances in their lives, even when the situation appears to be hopeless. Miller points out some simple steps each of us can take to live more miraculous lives, and she explains them so clearly that it's easy to do!

Fannie in the Kitchen : The Whole Story From Soup to Nuts of How Fannie Farmer Invented Recipes with Precise Measurements

Cute book, but historically inaccurate
Hopkinson has written a clever picture book incorporating tasty recipes, but take the details of Fannie Farmer's life with a grain of salt. Hopkinson has altered the facts to serve her story.

Farmer's first cookbook was an update of a cookbook, written by one of her predecessors at the Boston Cooking School, which already incorporated precise measurement using standard measuring cups and spoons. Farmer's contribution was "level" measurement (as suggested by Marcia) and kitchen-testing of all the recipes by the school's students and faculty.

Read "Fannie in the Kitchen" to your child as an introduction to Fannie Farmer. Then read "Perfection Salad" by Laura Shapiro to learn the true story.

Wonderful for classroom use
I am an educator who likes to use historical fiction with elementary students. Students love the story of FANNIE IN THE KITCHEN, and we have also used the book to talk about how cooking has changed over the years. I bring in old kitchen utensils from antique stores to show them. (Many kids can't identify a sifter, to say nothing of a butter mold! And when was the last time you saw a doughnut cutter??) We also use the book as a jumping off point to talk about math and measurements.

Although this is clearly a humourous, fictionalized take-off on a footnote to history, students and I also enjoy talking about how young Marcia must adjust to change, as her mother has a new baby. The way the illustrator depicts the developing relationship between Marcia and Fannie is delightful.

As the author note states, Fannie Farmer was one of the first to recommend precise measurements in cooking. What a fun way for kids to be introduced to this 19th century figure

Fun Fiction
Kids might have seen the Fannie Farmer Cookbook in the kitchen but never known that Fannie Farmer was a real person. This is an obviously fictionalized story, but it does include some actual quotes from Farmer's early cookbook. Nancy Carpenter's illustrations combine Victorian clip art with her own drawings. Not a biography, but a fun introduction to the name of Fannie Farmer and a story about how a young girl gains confidence in the kitchen.

An Irish Leprechaun
I read this book about 5 years ago, and I have still thought about it. I don't think I fully understood what was going on. But now I have!! I liked this book and you shoutl read it if you find these reviews intresting.

Fairy-tale-ish
This book deals with very real issues, but has kind of a surreal, fairy-tale-ish quality to it, probably because of the presence of a vagabond gypsy family on a black horse. You can just imagine them, riding away in the gray mists of morning...
The characters are well-developed and thought out, and the plot is intense, but thoughtful and moody.

Great Book!
I read this book many times and I loved it more every time! I think that everyone should read this book because it is really good!
