I actually read the book without falling asleep! WOW!
It's about this really smart 17 year old guy. He gets in trouble. Meets agirl. Thinks his moms crazy around the end of the book. Then him and his mom our very happy at the end. They have a normal life. Terrific book. I've only read 1 or maybe 2 books that i had enjoyed. But i'm glad that I liked reading it because I want to try to extend my vocabulary to it's highest point. Read it. I promise you wont fall asleep.

I actually read the whole book without falling asleep. WOW!
When I think of reading, I think sleeping, yawning and boring. They make us read every single day. Their torchering us. And they say reading is good for your mind and for your health. I think bla bla bla. Get those books away from me. Groose! Now that I'm a teenager I know I need to extend my vocabulary to it's greastest point. Or I wont get any where in life. I was in the library one day looking for a book to read. I picked up a book called danger.com. It sounded interesting. I started reading it and it was an amazing book. I loved it. The best!!!

Hot Pursuit is HOT.
I just finished reading this book and I loved it. I don't want to give the whole story away, but it is about a boy who has a whole bunch of lies told to him(even by his mother) and is wanted to work for some hackers to take over the world. You think you know the story at first, but it twists around at the end and it all adds up. This is a must read for people who like mysteries and computers.

A true tragedy that changed the way we look at death...
During my training as a chaplain at Baylor University Medical Center, it was considered part of the "dues" of training that one would take lots of being on-call at the hospital for handling of emergencies. To that end, there was a "call room" where a chaplain could catch a little sleep, while waiting. On one of those sleepless nights in the call room, I viewed a Frontline special on the story of Nancy Beth Cruzan. She was a young woman, fully alive, who, as a result of a terrible accident, would become a test case for end-of-life matters for years to come. After seeing that special, I was deeply touched by the need to convey what our wishes were for the ends of our lives.

The Nancy Beth Cruzan case took the better part of ten years before resolution. The lawyer who fought for her right to be disconnected from the feeding tube was William Colby, the author of this outstanding book. Those of us on the front lines of trying to help families prepare for the issues they will face at the end of life will find insight into the ramifications of that case, as well as grist for the mill of the work that we are doing.

Colby is a highly readable author (at times, I felt like I was reading a Grisham novel), the Cruzan's case is deeply compelling, the story is truly tragic, and readers will come away with an appreciation of the law and concepts that are involved in pursuing these matters. There are several important story lines running throughout this volume: There are the lawyers, one who pulls an unexpected punch; the politicians, aiming for re-election; the Cruzans, especially Nancy's father, Joe, a salt-of-the-earth laborer, broken to the core over the loss of his little girl; a common sense probate judge, just trying to do the right thing; and the right-to-life movement (with whom we generally have sympathy, but not in this case). Indeed, under the skillful telling of Mr. Colby, law itself becomes a character, fickle at times, inflexible at others, and, at the last, compassionate.

ElderHope heartily recommends this excellent book.

As thoughtful and compelling a book as you will find.
"The Long Goodbye" tells the story of Nancy Cruzan, a young Missouri women left in a persistent vegetative state by a serious car accident in 1983. The tale is told by attorney William Colby who, together with members of Nancy's family, battled both the medical community and the legal system to ensure that Nancy's right to be free from unwanted medical treatment would be honored. Mr. Colby's artfully crafted work is notable for its care, its compassion, its clarity, and its honesty. Nancy's legacy -- an increased sensitivity to the principle of patient autonomy at the end of life, as exercised by loving, caring family members who know best what a patient unable to make decisions for him- or herself might want -- is a powerful tribute to the Cruzan family's courageous fight.

A journey through a family's heartbreak
When I started this book I knew it would be hard to put down. Bill Colby is not only a brilliant attorney but he's also captured the public's attention with his spellbinding book on Nancy Cruzan's family fighting for her right to die. His genius approach to every obstacle thrown at him in court was met with sheer determination and a cool savvy that persevered for the clients he grew to love.
His success as an attorney and an author parallels his success as a husband and a father. Congratulations Bill! You've done beautifully in all areas.

The Art and science of fly fishing
I think this book shows you the art and science of fly fishing. this one was best among the books I read for flyfishing. It changed what I see at the stream. After this book, the streams were not the same as I had seen before..

My Bible
A great guide to approaching the river in a strategic way with methods that can be adapted to whatever conditions you face on the water. I think it's the most useful book on the subject, and is great for anglers of any level of skill.

Most informative book on fly fishing tactics available.
If you want to learn to catch trout in almost any situation you will encounter then this is the book for you. Written in Tom's low-key style. Solid information. I have been trout fishing, and reading trout fishing books for forty years. I learned more from this book than anything else I ever read. Another must have is Rosenbauer's "Reading Trout Streams.

The best kept secrets about the commandments
Now here's the truth, finally! This book confirmed what I already knew in my heart but had been taught quite differently as a kid. Read with an open mind.

Elating!
Words cannot describe how you will feel when you are "loosened" from the ever tightening bonds of man made religion and back into the hands of your Creator. No writer has ever touched me the way Mary Summer Rain has, right down to my soul. I struggle now to find her books that are out of print that I just must get my hands on! I feel any message of hers is humble and heartfelt and worth reading over and over again. Each time you re-read them, you will find something there that you did not recall. Bottom Line-she portrays a world we all want and yearn for and instills us with hope that we will, one day, reach just that.

Thought provking
This is one book by Mary Summer Rain that is quite unlike her previous books. In this book, she has a visitation by an archangel, who is concerned about the spiritual state of mankind. Coming to Mary, he feels that her words will be able to awaken mankind and to help them "turnaround" their negative behavior.

I do believe that Mary's words impact millions of people as she has always lovingly written of the truth and has helped us see the truth.

The book is a fast read and expounds upon the Ten Commandments. The archangel goes into the "simplicity" of each one and how mankind has chosen to disregard these rules from God and explains what can be done to turn things around.

I just finished reading In God's Truth by Nick Bunick and along with this book by Mary Summer Rain, I feel that man has turned around the words of God and man has used these words in ways that God did not intend to be used. The simple words of faith and love have become distorted and as mentioned in the book, we have become an "I" and and a "me" generation.

This is a book of hope, of looking at where one is and where one needs to go. It is a book of introspection and asking of yourself "what is really, really important in my life?" Am I living my life as God wants me to? Would I do the things right now if God were standing right next to me?

Some pretty heavy issues in this book, bring up some major questions. You *will* question yourself and some of the answers you come up with will hopefully have you changing around your life.

I recommend this book enthusiastically.

Be Prepared To Be Shocked... and Inspired!
... WOW! ... If, after having read this book, you do NOT seriously reconsider WHERE you are living in relation to the surrounding circumstances of your immediate environment, if you do NOT reconsider the WAY you have been relating to that environment as well as to your fellow human beings and all of the other creatures who share that environment with you, and if you do NOT reconsider your goals and means to those goals as far as whether they are in HARMONY with both Nature as well as Spiritual Laws, then - if what this book prophesizes is true - you may be in BIG TROUBLE in the coming years ahead. ... This is no joke!

... This book picks up where SPIRIT SONG left off. It fills in more detail into the teleological understanding of End-Times prophecies from the Native American perspective of No-Eyes - the wise, old, blind teacher of Mary Summer Rain. If you liked SPIRIT SONG, you are going to LOVE this second book in the series, Phoenix Rising. It leaves no stone uncovered.

... Mary Summer Rain writes, on page 48: "As we listened to the nonstop chatter of the scampering squirrels, each of us was lost in our private musings. I wondered at the great number of unaware people I saw around me every day. Didn't they realize that there were great things in the offing? I saw no physical evidence of preparation, physical or spiritual. Oh, I knew of separate groups of mountain folks who believed and were taking every opportunity to physically prepare for the bleak future, but, on the whole, everyone appeared to be obsessed with worry over the most trivial matters. I found this incredibly difficult to accept. The general unawareness of the masses made them look like mindless robots living out their individual lives with blinders on. I thought about the times when I'd overheard people idly comment on the strange occurrences of this or that, yet nobody was ever aware enough to connect the strange occurrences together. Nobody bothered to fit the puzzle pieces of the signs together. Nobody was aware enough to see the entire picture for what it represented."

... Funny, how blind prophets - Native American or otherwise - seem to have more insightful vision than people with normal sight do! We can thank No-Eyes for sharing her visions and wisdom with Mary Summer Rain, and we can thank Mary Summer Rain for sharing them all with us. She has presented us with all of the connected pieces of the entire picture of the prophetic puzzle! Whether your eschatological beliefs are pre-Millennial or post-Millennial, embrace the faith in a Rapture, or even simply cling to the stand that you will one day die, be judged, and hopefully go to a place called Heaven, it doesn't matter - ALL of these prophecies may take place and come true BEFORE any of those final, Biblical, tribulation time events of the Apocalypse ever take place. If this is, indeed, the truth, then Mary Summer Rain has done us all a great service - and we are very grateful to her, and thank her with all our hearts. ... YOWZA! - The Aeolian Kid

I am buying it for all of my friends.

possum for youngsters
I have read, and read, and read this story to my class of Kindergartners so many times they can say it from memory. We all love the funny illustrations but our favorite thing about this book is the language. The dialect is so fun to read and to listen to. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a vivid repeating story that is fun to read aloud.

My Number One Kids' Book
Over the years I have bought at least a half dozen copies of this to give as gifts. I don't even have kids, but it's one of my favorites. You have to read it aloud--and with a southern accent if you can.
I love the drawings too--kind of primitive which suits this book well. The possum has very cute and devilish expressions on his face.
I stick up for poor misunderstood possums anyway and was happen to have one star in such a cool book.

Possum Come A-Knockin
I love this book. We read this book to our children when they were younger. It was my husbands favorite to read. Somehow the book was given to charity. I have been looking for it at book stores , because I really wanted to replace it. I'm so glad you have the book and I will order a couple. We'll be reading it to our grandchildren someday. The book rhymes bueatifully and just flows when you read it. It's a great read out loud book.

Using the Power of Un in your classroom
This is my second year of teaching 5th grade, and both years I've used this book in Language Arts. The kids LOVED it, both years we've read it. It's also a breeze to pull out spelling words and vocabulary words from.
The kids can totally relate to Gib, his relationship with Ash, Rainy, his little sister, and of course, the dreaded 'Ol Shrapnel. The book has the kids' attention the whole time, and it's great to be able to watch my students actually WANT to read and see what event is going to happen next. I even caught a few students who just HAD to read ahead.
I'd say that this book is a classic for 5th and 6th graders, and my students and I would love to see it made into a movie soon! A+

Much more than a time travel novel!
Gib realizes that the odd machine he was given by a strange old man may hold the key to undoing the most devastating day of his life. He quickly learns, however, that there are consequences for every single action, however insignificant they may seem, and that trifling with such power is a huge responsibility. Who WAS that old man, and why did he seem to have such an interest in Gib and his family?

Etchemendy has done a brilliant job of leading the reader to consider some questions even larger than, "What would you do if you could travel across time," or "If you could change an event from the past, what would it be?"

The Power of Un
I am a fith grade student at Waldron Mercy Academy.(AMN)

Gib Finney is not your average kid. He is a kid who likes to cause frustration at school by shooting spitballs at people and messing around with science experiments. But soon he finds a device that can change his life forever. He can erase all mistakes he has made in the past with this device. But then there is a terrible disaster that he can not erase no matter what he does it will still be there in some way. Then he has to find out what mistakes are worth erasing and which ones are not. I thought that this was a really good book. You should read it too!

This is my first Nancy Thayer book
I bought this book on a recommendation from a friend and while it wasn't quite what I expected it to be, it was still very good reading. If you like to read books on relationships between mother and daughter and sisters, this is a good book to pick up. There is Margaret, the mother who has discovered new-found freedom at the age of 48 (which is very young!), her two daughters, Daisy and Dale. Daisy, pregnant with her third child, goes through a divorce that literally shakes her world upside down. Dale, in the throes of first true love, makes a tenative step into making a committment ... though she is afraid that her mother and sister's divorces may cause her to go down the same stumbling road later on in life.

It is a wonderfully written book full of insightful thoughts and discoveries. Margaret discovers that she could no longer be like the woman she was in Liberty, Iowa, where she dispensed free advice along with cookies and milk. Now, she's preserving the self she has disovered in the year since her divorce and move to Vancouver, Canada. She really embodies the joy and freedom of being one's own self, not responsible to any one else. It's a grand feeling ... it's something that I've discovered through my own divorce. The only difference is, Margaret feels no need to get married again, whereas I did get married.

Daisy is the one character that has come a long ways since the beginning of the book. Her trials and tribulations as a young and single mother are too vividly descriptive and true. But she comes through it and discovers a whole new personality that she didn't have before. She really gave new meaning to the word "sacrifice." Out of all the characters, she is my favorite.

Dale ~~ she is in the midst of the passionate throes of true love and at the same time, she's afraid to make a committment to her lover, Hank, because she's afraid she's doomed to repeat her mother and sister's mistake. Then she realizes that letting go of her fear and stepping through the changes in life really enhances her love.

This is an unique book ~~ one for mothers and daughters to share. I enjoyed it though it wasn't what I quite expected. However, I read it and wouldn't put it down till the last page was turned. I don't think others will regret reading it too.

Contemporary lives at crisis points
This story is about three women, a mother and her two daughters, at crisis points in their lives. There's the mother, aging and divorced, who turns from dumpy duckling into a swan; a daughter, also newly divorced, struggling to raise her children alone; and the second daughter engaged in an all-absorbing love affair.

Thayer's books are always entertaining and at the same time they portray relationships and everyday problems through characters that seem like your next-door neighbors. Here's a slice of typical contemporary lives, full of insight into situations and people.

A Lesson For All Women
I finished reading Three Women this morning and felt obliged to write my review right away.
This novel is written for women and many will read it and be able to identify with the trials of marriage, child rearing, broken relationships and the mental suffering and unhappiness we all go through.
Centered around the Wallace family, we are introduced to Margaret, the mother who in her late forties has come to grips with the person she wants to be, and makes herself through lots of courage, into that very person. We meet Daisy the housewife and her older daughter whose life is on the verge of collapse when her career-oriented husband leaves her for a more sophisticated woman as she tries to fend for herself with two young children and a baby on the way. Then we are led into the life of Dale a teacher......Margaret's younger daughter who is unmarried so far but very much in love with a fellow-teacher and so afraid of being burnt as she watches on at her sister's fate.
This is a good book for all women regardless of age, as in each of these three women, there is something we can all take note of, and learn from their experiences. I recommend this as a nice Mother's Day gift.

Very Interesting
I really loved the book. I didn't know it was so easy to get a child out of a daycare center. Very Interesting

Concerned Caregiver
Reading the book "The Perfect Solution" was definitely an "eye opener." Being a caregiver for many years as well as a Director of a daycare, I would highly recommend this book as a required reader for a training class in Child Development. Using it to create make believe situations to train potential caregivers to see what could be done to stop things like that from happening. I don't think the general public realizes the inpending dangers that lurk around daycares from desparate people who are not allowed to see their child(ren) or people who are desparate to have their own child(ren) such as in the book. This book is definitely a "Wake Up Call" to parents and caregivers who have to rely on any Child Care Center.

The Perfect Solution
I totally enjoyed this serious but tasteful book. Nancy Wade wrote her book based on her 20 plus years in child care and most parents will appreciate her candid insight concerning their children well being in even the best established day care centers. From the very first word until the last; I found myself reading the book and mentally visualizing what was going on just like I was at a movie. She carefully described every setting and explained how all the characters would have a role in the final outcome. The book was very well written and easily read. I believe this was purposedly done. A lot of authors love throwing out big words and confuse their audience. Nancy must have realized that most people like to read but hate having to pull out a dictionary to understand what is going on. In conclusion; the author wrote a great book and one that should be on the best sellers list.

When Samantha stays at Piney Point with her family, she never dreams what will happen. Her mother died many years ago, but she always loved to spend time at Piney Point with her friends just like Samantha. But when she finds her mother's old sketchbook, she becomes interested. Where did her mom draw all the pictures of Samantha and her father, who also died, when she was a baby? Trying to understand her past, Samantha and her two cousins go to Teardrop Island, the place where the mystery pictures were drawn. Their grandma forbids them to go, but they go anyway. But when they get stuck on the island, they get scared and realize they shouldn't have gone. I liked this book, but it was more of a little-kid book than I expected it to be!
