Another fine novel from Nancy Baker Jacobs.
I'm a longtime fan of Ms. Jacobs and hope that
"Flashpoint" is the start of a new series.
This novel is just the right blend of mystery,
suspense, and social commentary.

Be sure to read Ms. Jacobs' other recent novels,
"Star Struck" and "Double or Nothing".

Nancy Baker Jacobs burns up the book
in this fast-paced page turner. Ms. Jacobs manages to make every word count in Flash Point, her latest mystery entry. Thanks to the author's keen eye for detail, the reader sees the characters come to life on the page. And what charming characters they are---it's a pleasure spending time with Susan Kim Delancey as she tracks down the serial arsonist. Well researched, the author sets the scene so realistically I have a new-found respect for the men and women who fight fires daily.

Powerful Arson Investigation tale
Susan Kim Delancey is the Governor's Special Assistant for Arson Investigations, a political appointment that has her serve as liaison with all the counties in California. Right now she is investigating a series of arson homicides that have taken place in Sausalito, San Francisco, Daily City and San Vincente. She is trying to find out if the same person is responsible for the four incidents.

In each case the victim was a single mother who recently gave birth to a baby girl. No trace of the babies is found leading the press to dub the crimes the "Baby Snatcher Murders". Susan and her understaffed overworked team find a common thread even as the killer targets someone Susan loves more than life itself.

Nancy Baker Jacobs has a winning new series if FLASH POINT is any indication. The heroine is impossible not to like as she races from one horrific crime scene to another to find some answers that will stop a killer before he strikes again. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader turning the pages until they find out who the perp is and why he is doing such terrible things.

Heaven Help Me! is my saving grace!
I had been going through a difficult year and was wondering around the local bookstore when a book nearly flew off the shelf at me. I looked through it and knew I had to have it. "Heaven Help Me!" is an easy read and is chock full of Angelic advice, prayers and affirmations. It has changed my life and I am forever grateful! I highly recommend this book for anyone, because it covers a wide range of situations

A compendium of practical advice...
Heaven Help Me! A Celestial Guide To Healing offers a compendium of practical advice in understanding and facilitating our changing natures as we embrace the God energy in our lives. Author Nancy Freier shares information given to her through her guardian angel, Sreper. Arranged in an alphabetical format, Freier and Sreper tackle over 70 topics ranging from addiction to procrastination, from extraterrestrials to taxes. Written in an easily accessible style, the reader is reminded over and over again that we create our own reality, and as such, can uncreate those unwanted elements in our lives which we have called to ourselves in the past. It is our individual attitudes that keep us from claiming the happiness and peace we desire in our lives. Essential to one's success, however, is the need to engage the help of heaven, by asking assistance from God and the angels. Tidbits of wisdom are presented as solutions to a number of challenges which we all face as travelers on this planet. Freier also intersperses a few biblical passages, which take on different meanings when used in the context of raising one's vibration and clearing old energies and thought forms. Heaven Help Me will appeal to those seeking to explore the meaning of universal consciousness on a personal level. More than anything, the book offers concrete suggestions on how to call forth the powers of heaven in assisting one's growth in walking the path to claiming one's divinity. -Reviewed by Cristi Jenkins for PlanetLightworker.com

This book is proof the angels love us!
Heaven Help Me! Celestial Guide to Healing is an inspirational book by Nancy Freier, filled with beautiful, channeled messages from an angel named Sreper, whose angelic counsel will open the reader to a reality that we have all but forgotten... that we are individually loved and cared for by God and by the Universe, to a degree that we aren't even aware of. The Angels are here with us to work together to help transform the planet, but first, there is the internal work to be done. This book gently encourages us to take on our true life's path with a fearlessness and an integrity that draws from an authentic Angelic connection. -Rebecca Mercille, Spiral Journey Magazine

"Thoughtful and gentle..."
I am an elementary school teacher and one of my students - an extremely thoughtful and insightful 7 year-old - gave me an angelfood cake (with this book) for an end-of-the-year gift. She told me to be careful when I eat the cake and to look for the surprise. I was finishing up my room cleaning and had a piece of the cake, but unfortunately, the rest of the cake went bad in the heat. I looked through the rest of the cake to find a thimble. Puzzled, I read the book and cried through the last part of it. For anyone who is wanting to show good wishes, love, luck, modern angels watching over you or just a TERRIBLY wonderful and sentimental gesture towards someone...Read this book, bake an angelfood cake with a thimble in it and give book and cake as a gift. My thimble is in my china cabinet next to my fine crystal and Hummell figurines - it has that much heartfelt value. If you are "angel phobic" or concerned about religious undertones - it really has none. No preaching involved, just simply a FEEL GOOD story. There's no rhyme or reason to the illustrations which are detailed, subtle, yet bright and the storyline is quite cleaver and unpredictable. But it is the meaning woven into the words and storyline that is honest, loving and genuine. One to treasure for generations!

Special Birthday Surprise
When I was nine, my favorite teacher gave me this book to read. It was incredibly imaginative and it put a smile to my face on even the worst of days. For my mother's birthday, i used the exact recipe and directions for the The High Rise Glorious Skittle Skat Roarious Sky Pie Angel Food Cake to bake her the very best birthday surprise ever! Read it today!

High rise children's literature that transcends age
What a perfect marriage of words and pictures! This is the story of a girl who wants to give her mother a birthday gift more precious than gold: something that blends love, nostalgia and magic with good cake. She is aided (and abetted) in this venture by her goofy, unwitting uncle, and a trio of the most endearing angels ever illustrated. (Check out how the oldest angel's socks don't match!) The finely drawn pictures are delightfully evocative and reward close inspection. The whole book soars with whimsy, glory, and love. A keepsake.

A great way to start to learn about your cat
I enjoyed the author's down to earth style of explaining the importance of respecting your cat as a true family member. It opened my eyes up to a cat's reliance on their owners and how important it is to communicate with them. Cats has instints and preceptions beyond our own and this book brought to light and will help you understand more about your cat's behavior. A quick read and informative especially to siamese owners. MEOW!

Great book!
This book is as insightful as it is entertaining. I have always talked to my cats and now I have a better understanding of what they are hearing as well as what they are saying to me! A must for anyone who has, or wants to, really connect with their cat(s).

I can relate!
Patricia Moyes has a great writing style. Witty, clever and very funny. I find myself nodding in agreement and laughing when she describes cat behavior. Not for overall cat training, but more to understand and be understood by your feline companion

it was awesome
it was a very cute book and it really does deserver 5 stars*! but the sad thing was gary's death he didn't deserve that. Nadia and Jake were a perfect couple. and maybe later on nancy will find a very nice guy that deserves her. she's nice.:)

can't nadia just go away????
Good book. But I really don't like Nadia. Even though it was Nancy's desicsion to break up with Jake, Jake's realtionship with Nadia had driven an even bigger wedge between them. Do you ever think that Nancy and Jake will return to each other's arms? I hope so. They make the best couple. By the way, are they canceling the series?

I love this book, & most of series. Nancy can't keep love
I love this book, & most of series. Nancy can't keep love. I think that the sub-plot of Nancy's father and his new girlfriend is both refreshing and odd. The childish temper tantrum is out of charcter. Is the series canceled? Is there a #23:Otherewise engaged? Hmmmmmmmmmm.............

How make better book indexes

Very informative
This books tells you everything about indexing, its standards, how to cross-reference, which mistakes to avoid. The author discusses the traditional indexing method with cards. Her advice on software is outdated, we are far beyond DOS. Otherwise the book provides all the information you need and gives a good idea of what's involved, e.g. that it's not a leisurely job, why not everyone who can read can index, about indexing associations, etc. A very useful book for the professional.

You're an indexer? You should have this book
Mulvaney's "Indexing Books" is one of the two books most recommended by professional indexers (the other being the indexing chapter from the "Chicago Manual of Style"). Mulvaney writes in easy to understand, no-nonsense language to first explain what is an index, why you need a professional indexer (vs. say, a computer program), and then goes into detail about how to index books. "Indexing Books" is a must-have for anyone wanting to be a professional indexer.

Holding the Ladder
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (2001)
Author: Nancy J. Bailey
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

Holding the Ladder, a struggle shared
Nancy Bailey does a marvelous job in this short novel describing a heartbreaking loss of life, love and friendship as well as the joy of each. Based upon events that she is all too farmiliar with, the book walks one through the crushing loss of love and reestablishment of relationships which must withstand, or not, the trials of tragedy. Nancy has an uncanny sense of symbolism and is not unpoetic in her rendering of this episode taken from her own experience. It is well worth the investment of time and attention to share these moments with her.

Holding and letting go
Holding the Ladder shows us in a captivating way how holding on to the ones we love inevitably relies on our ability to let them go. I laughed and cried through Holding the Ladder and I recommend it to anyone who wants reassurance that overcoming lifes setbacks is possible.

Holding My Heart!!
When I first sat down with Holding the Ladder, I had no idea of the emotional journey I was about to undertake. Nancy Bailey is an excellent tour guide. She reaches into the heart and soul of Avery, and presents her journey of grief and resolution with uncommon empathy, compassion, realism, and even humor. By the end of this book, I was avowed Nancy Bailey fan. I look forward to future books by this author. Holding the Ladder is a wonderful novel!!
