Mo' Money Please
Do you love your husband but feel tht he's not bringing home enough bacon? Teamwork is the book for you. Joanne Watson tells how to hunt up ways to make your man look good on his resume, how to write that resume, give him tips on his interview and beyond. The book does exactly what it promises to do. However, the reader must decide if her sweet but initially unmotivated man is worth all the effort it will take to get him a better job.

Great Information, I highly recomend this book
I highly recommend this book for any women who wants to fully support her husband and help him make more money to provide for the family. Even if you have to hold a job for now, the information in this book will help your family survive better and, if this is your goal, too eventually work toward a situation where you can be a "Stay-at-home mom". Otherwise you'll just help your husband make more money. That's great too.

I've used some of these techniques, and they really do work!
This book is very well written, easy to read, and full of practical advice on how to increase one's income.

I have used a number of these techniques, and they really do work; my husband's income increased 5x as a result of these actions. I was a stay-at-home-mom before, but it is certainly easier with more money.

I highly recommend this book.

Terrific tale
An excellent mystery with lots of twists and turns. Characters you care about. This author should be in hard back on a best seller list! I nearly over looked this gem as it was in paperback. I read about a book per day and this was one of the best I have read in ages.

This series is an old familiar friend you want to read
Homicide detective Paavo Smith grew up believing his mother was a good time girl, who always dumped him and his sister with her neighbor when she decided not to play mommy. The only thing he has that was hers is a cheap cameo broach, which he gives to his San Francisco girlfriend Angie Amalfi, who treasures the gift that comes from Paavo's heart. She wears it everyday until the broach falls out of the setting.

Angie takes it to a jeweler only to learn the piece is a valuable Russian antique that he wants to buy due to its museum-like quality. Angie refuses to sell it and the jeweler agrees to fix it. As soon as she leaves the store, the jeweler places a mysterious call that places everyone connected to the cameo in danger. Paavo's stepfather is in a hospital suffering from a coma after being shot in the head. The jeweler is dead. Numerous efforts to kill Paavo and Angie occur. Paavo believes the current vendetta is tied to something his parents did three decades ago that impacts the Russian Mafia today.

This work is a bit different than the previous Amalfi mysteries because for the first time Paavo accepts comfort and help from someone else. The audience learns more about the inner demons that have driven him for years. By Paavo learning the truth about his past, the healing process finally begins and his girlfriend Angie lovingly assists in the process. Jeanne Pence shows her talent as a mighty good mystery writer and adds a great human element that turns this tale into a fabulous drama.

Current mystery & old family intrigue combine
Angie Amalfi has messed up big time. She has lost the antique broach that once belonged to her significant other's mother. She knows her detective boyfriend will not be amused that he only thing he has to remember his mother by has vanished. She must have a replacement made and soon. To top it all off her apartment, Paavo's place and his stepfather's house have all been broken into. The result is his stepfather is in the hospital. When Angie learns that the jeweler has been murdered, she knows deep down that it's time to panic. The answers lie from Arizona to Russia, from family secrets to an unknown past, all leading to Paavo and his family and a recipe for disaster. TO CATCH A COOK is murder most baffling and nobody stirs a murderous brew like Joanne Pence, complete with colorful characters, and a recipe to die for, Pence serves up a murder so hot, a plot twist so unique that you'll be left dying for another sample. I simply cannot wait to read the next tasty culinary treat that Pence has penned. Pamela Cornwell James

Godey's : A great reference guide
While it would be rare to find a Godey's book with every fashion print in it, this book gives you an excellent variety of the best dresses from Godey's. The descriptions give an idea of color mixes, fabric and decoration. This book is a great reference tool for the Lady Civil War or Mid-Victorian Reenactor or Costume Designer.

Great book....but I can't find our pictures in it!
I have 8 prints that don't appear in the book from 1865-1870. Want to find more info about my prints to include their value (at least an estimate). Pictures in the book are beautiful and pretty true to the actual work...except the real ones have a little "browner" paper. The history in the beginning is also very well done, and helpful in knowing the art. Thanks JoAnne.

Best insights on elusive American Democratic Peace thesis
Joanne Gowa's thinking is clear with full of empirical investigations on "interest-based explanation" free from often unnecessary and misguided value-judgment prevalent in liberal thoughts. Gowa not only makes it possible that the richness of realism continues but she also authoritatively put an end to the so-called value-laden "Democratic Peace" thesis... Very well written and well researched with full of theoretical insights and policy implications.... ...

Great Book!
This book was a really good read, and helped me out greatly with my political science course. Highly recommended!

wonderful use of words!!!
We love this book!!! The descriptions of sounds make it all real and the kids love the silliness of Bumpa. For them it's a great adventure that never gets old and always makes them laugh

A "Bangity Boom" of a Book
This is one of the best children's books that we have found. Our son (age 2)simply can't get enough of it. We are currently averaging 4-5 readings per day and the wonderful thing is that it hasn't gotten stale yet for us either! The rhythm of the prose is excellent and the word choices inventive. The illustrations are vivid and interesting.

A Great Read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - had a hard time putting it down, even. Captain Dempsey never whines about the difficulties she encountered as a female in a man's world - she just tells an interesting story.

Excellent book, well edited, very interesting
In addition to providing a timely and very interesting account of a woman's life in a man's world, this book gives us an "insider's" look at life on a sea-going cargo vessel and colorful accounts of the ports visited. Beautifully written and well edited. Go to sea with Deborah and Joanne! You'll enjoy the voyage!

Amazing Illustrations of a Wonderful Concept
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be... a...Chipmunk? This beautiful book looks at being a chipmunk from the eyes of a 4-year-old girl. From the warmth of a cozy den to the harsh realities of weasels and hawks, this book contains full color illustrations that inspire the imagination. This book is a must have for any parent that dreams of their child living in harmony with their surroundings.

A wonderful book to read to children, or to yourself.
Chipmunk Song provides children with a chipmunk's eye view of the world outdoors, with colorful, creative, and detailed illustrations that can stand on their own. But with the subtly evocative text to go with them, the book is as fascinating to read to children, as it is to the children themselves. You may find yourself reading this one when the children aren't around, just for enjoyment. The pictures of the woods and the underground environment are realistic enough to teach, and creative enough to bring a child into that environment. The text, almost lyrical, takes reader and listener on a woodland adventure they will not soon forget.

Beautiful! And my 20 students agree!
I picked this story up in the Spring to read to my first grade class around Earth Day. First I read it to them with the illustrations, and then we read it a second time, with the children closing their eyes and visualizing. They loved this and produced the most amazing drawings, with writing of how they'd dance upon the Earth. I recommend this book highly to parents or teachers for a variety of reasons: It is beautiful, it inspires imagination, and it reflects love for the Earth.

Incredibly moving book!
Not knowing the subject of this book, I sat down to read "Earth Dance" out loud to my young daughter (not because she can't read, but because we enjoy reading to each other). I began as I usually begin a book -- finding the passion in the words and the mood of the illustrations as I read out loud. I was immediately enchanted by the beauty of the words in this poem, and so moved by the message that, to my surprise, tears began to well in my eyes! I was reading the line "You are twirling so gracefully, carefully, not even the sand moves as you spin..". Surprised by my reaction, I looked through my own teary eyes into (surprise again!)the teary eyes of my ten-year-old daughter. She was as deeply affected as I! That truly is the hallmark of a good poet and artist, who can touch your heart and mind so completely with words.

Hours later, still deeply affected by the story, illustrations, and our reaction to them, I realized that I had just experienced a gentle magic moment, no small thing for an adult who has read a hundred children's books.

I cannot say enough about how good this book is --for children and the adults who read to them.

To the mothers of future ecologists, future artists, future parents...to all the readers of Joanne Ryder's Earth Dance: dance slowly, spin gently, and carry this book home to share with all the children of our precious Earth.
