A visual poem to the imagination
This book is a wonderful poem to the power of imagination. Thestunning art is not only well matched to the spare text, but conveysthe story powerfully on its own; children who can't yet read will still be very clear on the story. Strongly recommended.

A classic
I love this book and reread it every couple of years. It has always been my dream to live in the wilderness for a year, as this honeymooning couple did.
It is well and simply written, with a few maps but only disappointingly blurry pictures. There's lots of great description, including the occasional tedium of holing up for the winter, the joys they had exploring the area once spring arrived, and the terror of dealing with wolves (or was it bears?) trying to break into their cabin.
They are candid about what they did wrong and how they dealt with spending so much uninterrupted time together.

Excellent Resource
Excellent resource for any clinician involved in assessment of cognitive abilities of elderly patients. Very nicely complements neuropsychological research findings by focusing on application of scientific knowledge to the individual case. Nicely balanced presentation with very useful practical tips and guidelines for gero-neuropsychological assessment. I have worked with geropsychiatric populations for about 7 years and would highly recommend this book to any beginning or experienced practitioner working in this area.

The New Three-Year Garden Journal:With Regional Planning gui
This is a great book. There is plenty of space provided for you to write about your garden for every week of the year. It is also very informative. It gives specific info. for every zone in many different gardening topics for every month. And it has a special topic it goes into depth for for every month of the year. There are beautiful photographs throughout the entire book. It also has graph pages for designing gardens. I have recommended this book to quite a few friends who have loved it.

a wonderful, joyful, fun story with even better pictures
This is a mesmerizing tale of a little girl who loves the park by day -- the fish, the stone lion, the open space. But the park really comes alive at night as she flies over it and enters into its magic. The story is told with simple text and wonderful and colorful pictures. Figuring out how to maneuver while flying is an exceptionally well-written detail. And the last piece of the story is just the ending needed. It's a basically fun book!

The rhyming words are just right, not trite. Young learners adore pointing out the rhymes as well as counting the number of flying squirrels, eyes, etc.

Norwegian Proverbs
Published in Paperback by Penfield Books (05 February, 2002)

Norwegian Words of Wisdom
Norwegian tales were first written down in the mid-1800s by two friends, Peter Christian Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe. Joanne Asala has searched through these early stories to find the gems of wisdom-the proverbs-sprinkled throughout the tales. Illustrations are reproductions of nineteenth-century engravings of Norwegian life and scenery. Full-color cover features artifacts from Vesterheim: The Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa.

The book is printed on heavy paper, making each page a work of art to be framed. The cover shows an Olkjeng (a two-handled ale bowl) carved and painted by Jon Enderson Folkedal in Granvin, Norway, in 1816. The photograph was taken by Joan Liffring-Zug. The bowl was last used for drinking toasts at a Folkedal family wedding in the 1970s.The back cover shows a variety of Norwegian objects. An Ambar (a porridge container) made of birch in 1820, an early nineteenth-century birch Olbolle (a large ale bowl) and an Olkanne (ale tankard) made of pine staves are shown. Small plates and a coverlet are also pictured.

Some examples of Norwegian Proverbs are:

"Everyone is nearest to his own self."

"Necessity teaches new arts."

"What a man sews he shall reap."

"A home is a home be it ever so homely."

"True love does not grow rusty."

"Silence is sometimes an answer."

"He who follows the river comes at last to the sea."
