A Beautiful Nature Book
This is a lovely book, a perfect union of text and illustrations. Ryder deftly turns child-suitable prose into poetry: "lyrical" is simply the best word to describe it. As befitting a Sierra Club publication, she is ornithologically accurate in her portrayl of the Allen's hummingbird, and includes a useful discussion of hummers in general at the end of the book. Lopez's watercolors are every bit the author's equal. Each two-page spread is a delight to the eye, accurate in the details and evocative in feeling. And for those of us east of the Mississippi, there's something of a bonus. Since our local hummer is the ruby-throat, not the Allen's, and our flora and fauna are a world apart from the book's San Francisco locale, there's a bit of the exotic in this work. All in all, Dancers in the Garden is a very fine nature book for children and parents to enjoy together.

A gripper! I usually think I know the "bad guy" before the end, but not in this case. Can't wait to get my hands on other books by this author.

Virtuosic......
Martin M is a strange, sublime work of art that is almost impossible to describe. The language dazzles.....it is part Nabokov, part Joyce .....as much poetry as prose. There is an entrancing, musical quality to the work -- it begs to be read aloud, starting with those astonishing opening paragraphs. Martin M has the quality of myth -- seasoned with what can best be described as an exuberant wackiness.

Wholly original....a virtuosic performance that must be experienced.

Comprehensive, easy to read, good excercises
A great teaching or learning manual for PageMaker! I used this text teaching DTP and PM at a community college. It is well illustrated and has step-by-step instructions. Each lesson has labs that, if completed, will make you proficient in PM. The only drawback to the book is the changes to PM6.5. While the supplement covers the changes, some of the excercises cannot be completed as directed because they do not account for the changes. (for instance, the grid manager in PM6.5 is set up differently). PM6.5 Plus (newest release) has some additional features (such as a tool bar) that may require an additional supplement but can be figured out easily enough until it's available. Overall, a good, comprehensive book for beginners or intermediates.

Wonderful!
This book is great. It is almost sad, almost. There is this girl named Mary who does this paper on dream flight or dream spinning.Mary disides to try this. She goes back like a hunderd years and becomes some one of the time. at first it is only when she wants to but then it becomes almost a uncontrolible thing.

Beautifully illustrated YA biography of our 34th President
This unique format for a biography helps young people remember all about Ike's life, by intrducing each chapter with one of the many hats he wore. The illustations, in watercolor, line drawings, and historic photos, add tremendously to the story. The history is presented in an accurate and easily read style and covers Eisenhower's childhood, West Point years, WWII, Columbia Univ., the Presidency, and his retirement years. Perfect for ages 12 to adult.
