"SpongeBob VegasPants" is the highlight of the book. It lasts more than half of the book's 117 pages and reveals more about the author than some autobiographies have done in five times as much space. Wil really has it all out here and the result is an honest, touching portrayal of a man coming to terms with a cultural phenomenon he loved and then betrayed him.
Wil grew up loving Star Trek. Just imagine being cast on a television show that puts you on the bridge of the USS Enterprise. For a geek, not many things can match that. In fact, your character, is the only one that legendary Star Trek creator ever named for himself (Wesley was Gene Roddenberry's middle name).
And yet, the writers couldn't really do much with your character. He soon became a 1 dimensional intergalactic know-it-all who would serve as a Deus ex Machina everytime the writers wrote themselves into a corner. The fans that didn't hate you at the start quickly join the chorus of "I Hate Wesley" and boo you offstage at Star Trek conventions.
This is where Wil came from. But it's not what Wil Wheaton is. He has become a very powerful writer, one who transcended his past and is now earning the respect of the people who booed him long ago while also picking up new fans.
That's the true power of Wil Wheaton. People who couldn't care less about Star Trek or Wesley Crusher are reading his website and passing it on. They like him. He's a dad and a husband and a son and able to tell us of the events of his life that make us nod and smile with recognition.
"Dancing Barefoot" is light without being insignificant. It's an easy, engaging read that shows the human side of an actor who has been unfairly maligned. The delightful illustrations by Ben Claassen III do the same thing as the text: capturing the essence of Wil Wheaton on the page and making you want more.
Bring on "Just a Geek"!

I bought this book on the advice of a 27yr veteran in Alanon. I've never regretted purchasing this book. The readings are insightful, and go hand in hand with another great read "The Courage To Change". I've yet to discover why Alanon has yet not recommended this book?! Trust me, this is one of the best daily readers you can get!
I like this book so much, that I've given SEVERAL away as gifts to those that I love dearly. To this date, I've NEVER received a single complaint, only compliments on the depth and wisdom, of the words written by Melody Beatie. So, if you want a great daily reader, then I HIGHLY recommend this book. On yet another note, I just purchased "More language Of Letting Go" so, as soon as I've read a bit of it, I'll post my comments here.
Ciao All!!

If you want to learn what the mindfulness is, or just to be more inspired on seeking the right path and attitudes in your life, then read this book.
You get to choose: "Wherever you go...." is a book that can be explored over and over, that can start you on a path to a new habit to find within yourself what you need to survive today's busy world; that can help you find a new habit to renew the life you lead. Or, utilize its message just as a brief "chapter read" to jump start the positive if you are not looking for a lifelong habit.
It is very difficult to express, in words, the inner activities that result in becoming comfortable in your own skin. Kabat-Zinn writes thoughtfully and honestly about how he has accomplished this, and what things might work for you. There are many treasures in this book. For me, his ability to describe the rewards one gets from practiced patience, and to impress upon the reader the simplicity of the "body scan" and how it can lead to the habit of lying down meditation are two examples of things that readers can take away at any given time from his book.
Many self-help readers today are looking for the "quick fix" or some small coping practice they can employ to keep their days positive. In some ways, in addition to helping you understand why meditation works and why it can change your life, Kabat-Zinn writes a poetic and illuminating version of the "one minute help" chapters that the "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" series provided to these readers in the busy working world.
When you couple his vision and ideas with the lovely verse that liberally sprinkles his book (Kabir, Thoreau and Whitman are favorites) you have a quiet and inspirational message that can do more to help you understand and eliminate your stress than can all the meditation, control and organizational techniques advocated in today's America could ever do.
Read "Wherever you go, there you are" and learn how mindfulness can change the course of your daily life for the better. It works.

There is an excellent section on all card meanings, with extremeley thoughtful and descriptive key words and summaries. I personally appreciate the upbeat approach that Joan takes, not shying away from negative card meanings, but illuminating the underlying forces at work. Her viewpoint is slanted toward utilizing the challenging aspects of our personalities and fate for growth and clarification, via the tarot.
If I were to nitpick, it would be to say that I wish she had covered card reversals more extensively. Many books avoid the subject entirely though, as it is a difficult and often confusing aspect of divination that may be considered beyond the range of the beginner. I also got the feeling that she has a lot more to say, but perhaps that is what second books are for! All in all, I highly recommend this as one of the very best beginning books on tarot, and equally valuable for the more seasoned tarotist as a refresher course.

When the books where written, Wilbert didn't give a thought to the fact that one day, Thomas the Tank Engine would have a worldwide audience, let alone an British one. The stories are simple. A short tale with a moral at the end. They give lessons in life. Everyone gets there comeuppence in the end. That's life and my nephew knows that. As for the Fat Controller, he does seem a little offensive for todays lifestyles, but some people can be a little oversensitive as well.
When Wilbert Awdry wrote these stories, the first one being way back in 1945 right up to 1972, time, and attitudes, was a little different. Reading some of the reviews on this book would make some people think that the books where wrote yesterday. The only reason that the books are a little darker than the TV series is because the TV series dosn't stick to the principles that the books adhere to.
Unfortunatly, all the stories in their original format are now out of print due to a complete shambles that surrounds the reprinting of the series, which is a dire shame. So this book is where to find all the first stories that started the wheels on the best loved character ever.
With this book your child will enjoy ALL the original stories, as they where. Just ask my nephew!
It actually is not true that all Thomas stories are in this book. All the original stories by the original author are, but more stories have been made up by less skilled story writers, in my opinion. The BEST Thomas stories are the ones in this book.
The shorter story books have been Americanized, and I think that makes them lose some of their appeal. For instance, the Fat Controller in this book has been renamed in the shorter books and videos to his proper name, "Sir Topham Hatt." Political correctness meets Thomas the Tank Engine. In my opinion, they were better unchanged, and that is what you have in this book.
If you have a toddler, I highly recommend this book. One word of warning, though. Then come the Thomas train sets, and the videos . . . you will never be through with Thomas once you start!

As a society in general, we have been led to believe that life is much more difficult than it really is. Success in all areas of your Life is not hard to attain at all-- that is of course, if you know the game and how to play it!
Read this book and change the way you look at yourself and more importantly how you look at every situation. Remember-it's not the situation- it's how you look at the situation that shapes your destiny.
I can not stress enough the positive impact that you will see happen in your life and the people's lives around you when you read this book and apply the principles and affirmations. You will begin to see all your dreams start to come true right before your eyes and you'll find yourself saying, "I can't believe it was that simple..."
I thank K. Orlich for recommending this book to me...and I thank Amazon.com for always having it in stock. Read this simple book--and more importantly--apply what you have learned and you will truly change your life.

What a blessing and a comfort this book is! To know that our loved ones not only live on but that they desire to communicate this to us is a true joy and a balm to the heart.
Congratulations to the Guggenheims for having the heart and soul to undertake a project of this magnitude during a time when after death communications (ADC's) were barely understood or talked about openly at all. Kudos to Judy and Bill!
