Through many years of Christian life, the author knew something in his Christian life was missing and as it was revealed to him, he did a superb job in short, concise chapters of conveying his experiences to others. In the American culture, too often we take our identity from the "things of the world". Then, when we become Christians we are confounded to learn the world in which we live is not reality in the eyes of God.
Stone explains the necessity of taking upon a new identity and living a life of faith out of that identity. He gives us an eternal, biblical perspective from which to learn the thought processes which leads to true life, the abundant life. The book is for true believers who are tired of the pablum dispensed from pulpits. I have gone through the book personally, been in a small group where each chapter was discussed on a weekly basis and I am currently leading a small discussion group with enormous success. It is a subject matter that can be engaged with knowing you will gain better insight in how God sees you and, as a result, experience the life of faith as it is intended to be. It is definitely a "gotta have" book.

Little did I know that world famous dishes such as risotto, polenta, tiramisu and many other delights originate from Veneto and fair Venice - until I read Sally's superb description of their origins. She elegantly evokes the typical dishes of Venice with such accuracy that I could almost smell the aromas while reading her book - especially her enticing descriptions of the "Cuttlefish stewed in its ink" and "Bacala a la Vicentina". Such descriptions of typical Venetian dishes are beautifully interwoven with their historical origins. Even their essential ingredients are traced back to their roots. Who knew that eggplant, the basis for Melanzane al Funghetto, emanates from China?
An additional bonus and particularly attractive aspect of "Venice and Food" are the illustrations throughout the book. They are done by Sally herself who is a talented artist. Moreover, the whole book is written in her own elegant handwriting - a unique and superbly pleasing feature.
In sum, from the minute I picked up this book, I could not put it down until the next day - the first two days of my visit to Venice. It served as a magnificent introduction to Venice - not only the city of romance but also certainly of history and cuisine.
"Venice and Food" is a must read for any food enthusiast!

Anyway, this was a great BASIC Access book. I did, however, have to send an email to Prentice Hall. After a week, I still have not heard from them. There are sections in the book called, "Discovery Zone Exercises". They let you figure out what to do by using "Help". Sometimes "Help" is no "Help". My advice to you is, if you can not figure out the "Zone" exercises just go on. I found one answer in the "Intermediate" book. Another at a book store.
With all that, the book is well written. They have you do the same thing more than once and sometimes in different ways. It earns 5 star's.
I am now starting on the "essentials Access 2000 intermediate" book. Look for that review.
When I first opened the box and began working with the book and the companion card deck, I instantly felt empowered to take action. I have now used "Action Dialogues" to prepare for and execute a dialogue with a small group of leaders focused on a key culture change project. In addition to testing this powerful new tool in the corporate setting, I have also found it to be a great way to open conversations in both non-profit and public sector environments. In one instance, a particular card and the associated issu and quote really hit a nerve with a collegue who works for a city in Northern California. We used that one issue to build around it a focused dialogue session. There are no complex theories that need to be grasped or detailed preparation. If you have a issue that needs to be discussed and you have been putting it off because you don't feel comfortable facilitating the necessary dialogue - don't wait. Buy this book. It will take you by the hand and show you step by step how to be successful and get busy changing the world!

and how can the human spirit survive in times of tragedy and war that Keehn explores in this story. Anna is a feisty young girl who embarks on a mission with her younger brother Jed to find her father who is wounded in Winchester, Virgina in the Civil War and bring him home to Pennsylvania. Much of the humor woven into this story comes from their transportation, Sampson, a huge plow horse who responds only to Bible verses.
These two young people who are caught in the sweep and heartbreak of the war are strongly portrayed with all the interplay of brother/sister antagonism and love. Jed is "rutchety, " sees the world as good or evil and mostly disagrees with Anna's opinions on just about everything. Anna is strongly appealing, a intrepid makeshift dentist and hopeful baker of apple dumplings which she just knows will make her father recover from his wounds. Even though they meet people from both sides of the conflict and experience the horrors of the war especially when they are imprisoned in Castle Thunder with other refugees, ultimately, Anna and her story glow with quiet strength of character and hope.
I recommend this book highly, not only for young people, but for adults.
Will they survive the sutler who has his eye on Sampson? Will Anna's disguise be discovered?
Who are the real enemies after all?
Anna Sunday is such a riveting read, that I stayed up half the night to finish it. I am now lending it out to my friends. There is a waiting list!
Anna Sunday is a must-have for schools, libraries and personal collections!

If Bernard Shaw were not the second greatest playwright in the English language, this biography would not have such significance; and were it not for Shaw's multidimensional personality, this book would not possess so many fascinating dimensions. Sally Peters acknowledges her debt, and gives us a work without self-conscious authorship. It is a book that invites reading and rereading. Much has been made of Shaw's homosexuality; but Dr. Peters' focus is broader and deeper than that. A story, which often reads like the most engrossing fiction, Bernard Shaw: The Accent of the Superman, is a rewarding resource for any serious student of modern drama.

This would make a great movie, so producers, take a look. Bringing this to the silver screen with modern technology would put you to the test.
The characters portray a true to life experience. I couldn't put it down!
And the Biker's Prayer is a must read!......
