Another must-have book for quilters
I love this book! I was having a hard time figuring out what to do with all of the fat quarters of fabric that I collect and this book gave me the answer. All of the quilts are beautiful. She gives great directions - from cutting up your scraps to making the actual quilt. I can't wait to start making one of these quilts. She also shows the each quilt using a different color theme. It is a great book - I highly recommend it if you are a fabric collector like me!

Extremely Helpful Book with Great Designs!
I really liked this book for several reasons. It gives extremely concise and clear cutting charts for the size quilt you wish to make. The examples shown in the book are extremely colorful and show good use of using mulitple fabrics and scraps.

One of the designs in the book titled 'Skyrocket' shows an alternative to the traditional 'Ohio Star' which is one of my favorite blocks and I can't wait to start working on this one!

I personally do a lot of 'Strip Quilting' which saves me a lot of time and I can get more done. I know short cuts for sewing and piecing on some of the examples and instructions in the book. But for even a novice or beginning quilter the instructions the book has are quite suitable.

For the advanced quilters out there, this might be a handy reference guide with beautiful examples of color and fabric use.

A Must read for Homeschooling mums
"Seasons of a Mother's" heart is written by Sally Clarkson. Sally is a homeschooling mother of four children and has been home educating since they were born.
In this book, Sally shares from her heart in a very real way. She shares her failures and her successes. She outlines some Biblical principals that she has found helpful in learning to enjoy the homeschool journey.

In "Seasons" she addresses needs particular to homeschooling mothers and exhorts us to be thankful and content. She gives encouragement to seek the Lord and to put our families and homes first, to not live under guilt and to pray. She offers encouragement to us to endure the hard or 'dark' times.

. I was encouraged by Sally's advice when she writes that building our homes requires planning. This book will gently challenge you to focus on certain areas - What is our goal in training our children? In training of their character? How will we train them in these and other areas? How will our homes be structured? What education should you provide for your children? Other serious thought provoking points that are raised are -Are we prepared to give what it takes to train your children? Sally recognizes that homeschooling takes effort- physical, emotional and personal effort. Is it worth it?

Sally offers instruction when talking about how to build these principals on a strong foundation. As Christians, our foundation must be biblical principals and she outlines these in a very gentle way.

"Seasons of a Mother's Heart" can be read straight through from cover to cover or as a devotional or even used in a homeschool support group discussion. At the end of each chapter there are a few relevant Scriptures and room for you to record your own thoughts and also some practical advice for discussion or application into your personal and family life.

A gentle but firm book that should probably be read on a regular basis by mothers and homeschooling mothers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Sally Clarkson really speaks to the heart of mothers.
This book is an inspiration to all mothers, especially those who are homeschooling their children. She shares her stuggles as well as her successes, with heartwarming anecdotes to which we can all relate. This book should be on the shelf of all mothers who are striving, and sometimes struggling, to give their children the best in life. It is a trusted friend in those times of dryness and discouragement. God bless Sally Clarkson for sharing herself with us.

Happy Christmas Memories
One of my favorite Christmas memories when I was a kid was when, at Christmastime, my mom would pull out our copy of Silver Spurs and read to us. The story is perfect for inquisitive little ones who just don't understand how Santa can get into the house without a chimney. Spending most of my childhood in the Southwest, chimneys can be hard to come by. I can't wait until I am able to share this classic with my little ones, and am sad to read that it is now out of print. Thankfully my mom knows how special it is, so she had kept it all these years.

A Wonderful Answer!
Silver Spurs answers the question many kids have asked: Just how does Santa get into your house if you have NO chimney! I've had this book for twenty years - and have given two as gifts (not recently!). It's such a shame the book never received widespread publicity - because it's an engaging story with beautiful illustrations (very detailed, I might add). My children (now 24 & 18) have tender memories of Silver Spurs - and one of these days I hope to read it to grandchildren.

Sister Split
This book was a great story, I just love american girl books! Sister Split is about a girl named Ivy, and her parents are getting a divorce. Ivy and her sister are shocked. So from there parents anger, they say that they are getting seperated too. Ivy's sister moves out with her father, and Ivy stays with her mother. But when each child visits each other, they do horrible but funny things to each other. Ivy's only comfort is her bunny and her best friend. If you enjoy a great story, and you are a girl 11-13 you should read it!! It was excellent!

Sister Split
I loved this book! It really described the lives bewteen sisters and there divorced parents. It seemed like a true story, about what goes on in the lives divorced kids trying to solve there problems about the parents. It is about a girl named Ivy and her sister Lacy who mostly got along intill Lacy told Ivy "she hated when she was born." Then there life gets awful when there parents decide to split up. They both start to hate each other, but sercetly Ivy still loves her sister. And doesn't want her to live with her father while she is with her mother. But luckly Ivy has her best friend and her rabbit to keep her company. But soon after a lot of arguing bewteen them they solve there differences. It is a great and easy to read. I like it. It was funny about the fights they had and also gave me a great lesson to try to love your sister even if you have differences. I recommend it to anyone mostly a girl though. Try It and I am sure you will like it because I sure did!!

Miniature quilts made easy.
How can this author put so much into a book. She begins with easier piecing and takes the mystery out of putting tiny pieces together. She goes beyond this by showing the best value of color to make the quilt dance and sparkle. This is an amazing book, one that every quilter should have in their library. She solves problems, causes you to want to make tiny quilts in many many colors for every room in the house.

Miniature quilts made easier.
SMALL SCALE QUILTMAKING takes the mystery and fear out of tiny piecing. The selection of fabric is so very important, showing that the strong contrasting fabrics have more character. Many projects to entice any quilter with information to make this tiny project a reality.

Kids & Parks
What a wonderful book to help your kids rediscover their local park. The main characters, Sneakers and Sally, will spark their interest. The cute alphabet format and clever rhymes will keep them entertained from A to Z. It's even a neat book for adults, who will remember the happy days of their youth in their neighborhood parks - and want to go back.

Sneakers , ABC's...A Must Read
This is a great ABC book for all ages!!!! I have found this book a great activities motivator for my second graders. In this day and age of couch potatoes, this book encourages kids to get active. I bought this book at the Walker Art Center during a recent visit back to Minneapolis . It brought back many memories of the fun times I had growing up at Lynnhurst Park. As a teacher in Sarasota, Florida the ABC rhyming format held the interest of my students and encouraged participation in the reading.

Wonderful, overlooked classic
This fabulous vegetarian cookbook has, unfortunately, been overshadowed by better known ones coming out of Moosewood, Greens, etc., but anyone who loves food, vegetarian or not, will probably adore this book. It's absolutely terrific. Unlike a lot a vegetarian recipes, these are very finely tuned, even subtle. They aren't the easiest meals to put together, but the work is well worth it. The recipes are constructed with a wonderful eye to fresh ingredients complexly combined, and it covers everything from breakfast to desserts. The cornmeal pancakes remain the best I've ever had; salads are excellent; and the soups just as good. I really love this book and would never be without it.

I love this cookbook
This is a wonderful vegetarian cookbook. The recipes are pretty simple and easy to follow, but absolutely delicious and mostly call for fairly ordinary ingredients. The recipes are also reasonable -- you don't need to devote a whole day to cooking a tasty meal without meat. I have had and loved this book for about 10 years now, and it's so splattered and worn that I've decided I need a new copy. This is one of my favorite cookbooks ever.

Finally!
Beautiful concept, beautifully done using the Universal Rider Waite and in a lovely large box that contain them. Each card
has a smaller Universal rider waite on it and beside it, an accompanying meditation.
For the tarot lover, a wonderful tool for deepening your connection with the 78 cards. Using the affirmations are a great idea for meditation purposes and to gain emotional clarity
when doing a reading or a one a day card method. Deck comes with an introduction and explanatory information booklet by the author that is included.

A Powerful tool designed to promote positive growth & change
This oversized deck will please all who are into self-exploration through the Tarot. The deck is illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith and recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts.

Each of the 78-cards has a small rendition of the images from the Universal Waite Tarot Deck. The larger portion of each card is devoted to appropriate affirmations to go along with the imagery of that particular card. Appropriate, in that the affirmations, mirror quite nicely the popular interpretation of the Tarot. Text writer, Sally Hill does an outstanding job of writing affirmations for each of the 78 cards.

There can be some very difficult images to handle in the Tarot. For example, the Ten of Swords, is traditionally depicted as ten swords through the back of an individual, indicative of treachery of some kind around the querent, or a feeling that all are against an individual. It is hard to see anything positive when looking at that image. But Hill manages to take this image and show the positive chances for growth to occur under these trying circumstances. She assigns the card affirmations, such as, "I am dealing with negative thoughts that pin me down; I am seeking release from inner confusion and conflicts", and, "I am finding ways to recover my energy and rise to new life". Also, the Court Cards are thought by some to be the most difficult cards to interpret in the deck. The affirmations Hill associates with the Court Cards provide greater insights into these cards.

Using Tarot Affirmations promotes a greater understanding of Tarot imagery and will give depth to the traditional meanings behind the cards. This deck is useful for daily self-analysis, meditation, or to delve deeper into the mysteries of the Tarot. Beginners and advanced students alike, will benefit and grow from the positive messages displayed on these Tarot cards.
