Recommendation from College Woman
This book was recommended to me in my Women's Health course at my undergraduate university. I picked it up and couldn't put it down! It has made my sex life much more healthy and enjoyable! My roomates and I have loved sitting around and talking about our sex lives and reading exerpts to each other. I am giving it to them for the holidays. I think it makes an excellent gift.

Excellent suggestions!!!!
My therapist works with one of the authors and suggested this book to help me in my recovery from childhood sexual abuse and becoming more knowlegeable about my own sexuality. I found this VERY informative and helpful. The exercises and suggestions that were given were really helpful and I have bought another copy to give to my sister! Thanks for this book! It is a definite recommendation for any woman (or man who wants to understand his woman) who is looking for an updated guide on sexuality and health.

Reads Like a Novel!
Its hard to imagine a book about female (and male) sexuality reading like a novel, but this one does! Its A - Z about our sexual selves, sexual programming, changing old patterns, knowing what patterns need to be addressed, how to address those patterns with partners, sexual trauma, diseases, etc.

As soon as I started reading the Forward, I couldn't put the book down. While I was completely absorbed in this book, I discovered my partner was reading over my shoulder the whole time. We expecially found the section on body changes with aging and ways to maintain a strong sexual relationship into middle age and beyond valuable.

This is my birthday gift for all of my friends this year. A must for every woman (and man) to read and reference again and again.

The Backyard Bird Feeder's Bible: The A-To-Z Guide
What makes this book a hit is that the author and editor seem to communicate before going to print. Many books fail because of a lack of that communication.
I almost think of The Backyard Bird Feeder's Bible: The A-To-Z Guide to Feeders, Seed Mixes, Projects, and Treats as being set up in the style of an encyclopedia. Don't let that statement put you off though. You can tell Sally Roth knows her subject, but beyond that, she wrote the book with a passion.
Anyone who is a "birder" would recognize Roth as a bird enthusiast (birder) first and who, as an added bonus for her audience (us, her readers), is an excellent writer.
The pictures of the birds are professional quality. The information is presented in an easy to follow format for each bird. There are numerous tips on how you can enjoy watching the birds in your backyard.
I enjoy this book everyday, reading a particular section and enjoying the birds even more because of the info given in this book.
A good purchase! Most enjoyable!

Sally's Books are the Best !
Wonderfully organized, gorgeously illustrated, full of both interesting and practical information about the most commonly-encountered backyard birds, with lots of ideas that are fun for you as well as beneficial to your backyard bird friends. Sally's books are "must have's" for backyard birders, especially for those who love to garden as well. I have several of them & love them all!

Excellent book.
This is a great book! Has all kinds of neat information and ideas. I have several books of this type and this one is by far my favorite. Well worth the money, you will use it again and again.

A book for day dreamers
Bungee's voyage is a wonderful read for adults and children alike. Peter Dudley's amazing illustrations and Sally Ford's charming narrative combine to make a childrens book that I hope will become a classic. I really deserves that honor. I'm an adult (and a sailor) and I found myself enjoying Bungee's adventures and day dreaming of my own sailing trips; those already completed and those still being planned. My son is 15 months old and I secretly hope that he will become a sailor (like his Dad). Bungee's Voyage is my secret weapon to inspire him into the wonderful world of boats and far away places. If you know anyone with children whose day needs brightening, buy this book and give it as a gift.

Wooden sailboat heaven
This charmingly written and beautifully illlustrated book should become a classic for readers who day dream about sailing around the world, or who care about just messing around in boats. Ostensibly a children's book, Bungee's Voyage tells the story of a dog who sails from New England to Tahiti. Sailing in a wonderful wooden boat, Bungee has a series of adventures which are artfully described by Sally Ford and beautifully illustrated by Peter Dudley. Ford and Dudley know sailing, boats, and ocean waters and it shows. Children will love reading or hearing this story and adults will love reading it too. I loved reading about how Bungee faced adversity. The illustrations show that Dudley also knows his way around boats -- down to the rigging.

Enchanting!
Absolutely enchanting and I cannot stop smiling from the pleasure !! Thank you for the most favourite book any sailor could read . Well done Bungee with lots of love.

This story is not only wonderful for children, but also adult basenji lovers. A must for ever family who has ever had or known a basenji. Candle will find a place in your heart forever!

WILL LIGHT THE WAY TO FAITH
A basenji friendly household boasted of a pair of breeding basenjis and their two adorable puppies. The senior basenjis told their puppies the story of Candle, a basenji ancestor who really did show everyone the way.

An African breed that boasts of a more than 2,000 year history, the famed "barkless" dog (basenjis yodel and make laughing noises instead, these dogs were the loved pets of Egyptian aristocracy and nobility. The story of Candle takes place in Egypt.

A lovable young basenji named Candle is the adored pet in a royal household. Basenjis, naturally intelligent and curious were aware that something wonderful and miraculous was about to take place. The "basenji network" were aware that the days of excess and idolatry were soon to be challenged; a miracle was on the way.

Candle and her owner, a young Egyptian gentleman saw the Star shining brightly in the East and knew they had to follow it....

Readers will yodel with delight as well. This is truly a wonderful family bonding book and it is certainly a beautiful illustration of love and faith. I can't recommend it highly enough. I love it! The lovely illustrations and the gentle story will captivate readers of all ages.

Candle will light a path to the hearts of all who read her story.

Veronica Anne Starbuck, author of "August Magic" on "Candle"
A delightful story for all ages, this beautifully illustrated tale of the little Basenji who shares in the joy and wonder of the first Christmas is truly a timeless classic!

Party Nuts: 50 Recipes for Spicy, Sweet, Savory, and Simply
The recipes in this book are absolutely wonderful! However, the binding is absolutely terrible. I have been using this book for only two weeks and it has totally fallen apart. If you want to keep your book nice, check out a copy at the library to use while experimenting with the recipes.

Both savory and sweet mixes are featured
Party Nuts: 50 Recipes For Spicy, Sweet, Savory, And Simply Sensational Nuts That Will Be The Hit Of Any Gathering is not just for holiday celebrations, but deserves year-round attention for its focus on party nut blends which make for both perfect parties of any kind and gifts for any occasion. Both savory and sweet mixes are featured in a collection of 50 recipes, spiced with appealing color photos.

Yummy
With its martini glass full of candied peppered walnuts on the cover, this lovely little book is so visually appealing and fun to flip through that it would be worth owning even if you had no intention of trying its recipes. Fortunately, the author invites experimentation in a voice as casual as that of a friend sitting on your kitchen counter. Pistachios, peanuts, pine nuts and walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts and pecans - my personal fave - are each lavished with many adornments from spicy to sweet to savory. Whether you're entertaining or serving up homemade gifts this holiday season, this book makes a happy addition to any kitchen library.

Shhh!?Lift the Flaps but Don't Wake Up the Giant!
Our family loves this book! It has gone through three boys and we need another one! PLEASE REPRINT!!! My two year old goes around saying shh when he wants to read a book. Absolutely a great book!!!

You have to read this book!
I have been a children's librarian for 11 years. I use this book every year during National Children's Book Week. I read it to Preschoolers through 2nd graders. Every year I ask students to write down their favorite book. This one wins in a landslide! PLEASE REPRINT IT!!!!!! I have people who want to buy it for their kids and it's out of print. If you want a sure hit, with students or children of your own, try to get a copy of this book.

Shhh Lift the Flaps But Don't Wake the Giant
Wow!! I am a Pre-K teacher and this is one of my classes favorites. I wish I could find this book somewhere. I borrow it from the library over and over. As soon as I return it, all my students beg for the book again and again. We even have made our on Shhh! book, but it's not the same. They love to see that eye looking at them. What great squeals of delight. Now I'm pregnant with my first child and I would love to have this book in my collection. Boo, hoo I can't find it anywhere. So it will be off to the library.

Acting With Atman's Pyramid

Great resource for actors and student actors.
5 Stars in information. 3 stars in narration.

This audio-book I bought in november 1999, is great, because it goes as a pyramid from the very top of our emotional memory to the performance. It gives good advice when preparing to auditions, cold readings. I recomend it strongly. What I didn't like was the narrative of the speaker. She speaks as if the tape was made for people learning english as a second language, long pauses between words.

Necessary Pauses
I was in the audience of this workshop several years ago, and yes, as Isaak indicates below, the speaker does pause as if speaking to those who learned English as a second language.

This workshop is L.A.-based, where approximately half the students are typically from other parts of the world. If the speaker presented the material in any other way, there would be "Huh?"s and "Would you explain that again?"s throughout the course.

A terrific workshop. Solid information.

Necessary Pauses
This is, as those below expressed, a terrific tape. I was fortunate enough to attend the workshop in person.

Yes, there are pauses, as one reader indicated below. The seminars are given in Los Angeles, where many people do, indeed, speak English as a second language. So the reader was absolutely correct -- the speaker does pause, and does present material more slowly than might be necessary in a less ethnic part of the world.

Great tape. Full of information.

A Balcony in Nepal:Glimpses of a Himalayan Village
Visitors to Nepal are frequently young trekkers. A Balcony in Nepal gives us a heartwarming, compassionate view of village and homelife through the eyes of two older women. They describe the unique beauty of the mountains and the people with whom they have interacted in repeated visits to the village of Badel in words and sketches that will remain with you. It is a very touching personal account that goes far beyond most travel books.

There's more to Nepal than trekking
There's more to Nepal than climbing, trekking or the teeming streets of Kathmandu. Through thoughtful writing and lively drawings, Sally Olds and Marge Roche invite us to share their involvement in the life of a remote Rai village. We learn about joyous festivals, meet fascinating people and become part of the struggle to live daily life without the amenities we consider necessary. The freindships they make stir our imagination. And by recording their thoughts and reactions to what they've seen, they raise interesting questions on the effect tourists are having on the village and Nepal itself.

Marvelous journey
The author, Sally Wendkos Olds, has brought experience and talent to use in telling of her experiences in a remote village. Marge Roche's illustrations enhance the story and stand alone as beautiful works. I highly recommend this book to any who would like to experience a very different way of life. Beautiful book!

Wishing the fulcrum were moved...
A moving book, quite heart-rending at times. And yet frustrating as well. Too many pages are given to the crushing and authoritarian leaglism of their early faith which ultimately counts for nothing. As the doors of self- and God-understanding open, I yearned to know more to hear more of their internal transformation and the remarkable people who cross their paths--like Madelaine L'Engle. The climax of confrontation and decision was gripping but I sensed a gauzy filter descending thereafter, masking the grit required in reconsituting lives and relationships.

The Compelling Account of a Journey Toward Wholeness
In a work of rare honesty and compassion, Sally Lowe Whitehead shares her heart with the reader. While focusing on the painful reality of discovering that her husband and the father of her children is gay, this work deals with much more. It is an honest and sometimes painful account of the author's coming to terms with a Church that is often unforgiving and unloving. Whitehead's journey toward faith and forgiveness is both moving and challenging to the reader. It is impossible to read her words and not re-evaluate one's own ideas and prejudices. The Truth Shall Set You Free is a work that is not only honest in its presentation, it is one that encourages the reader to equal honesty.

Christian Spirituality & Homosexuality - Not a Contradiction
Although the book explores her husband's journey toward reconciling his faith and his sexuality, it truly explores the myths and realities of faith in the context of sexuality in general. A refreshing memoir about one family's maturing into authentic Christian faith, "The Truth Shall Set You Free" demonstrates that "real" Christians and "gay" Christians can come together in the reality of life and faith to develop close, intimate friendships that strengthen the faith of each.
