If you love something let it go !
This is a great story that has been adapted from the Television series by Katharine Holabird. The story shows how Angelina the mouse finds a lovely pink butterfly that has hurt it leg. The story show how Angelina wants to keep the butterfly as a pet after its leg it healed, but begins to have second thoughts.
Colorful pictures on every page of this book help keep the readers attention, while the story really shows kids that maybe a trapped animal is really better if it is set free. This book shows a good moral lesson for readers of any age.

Anti-Coloring Book of Celebrations
All of Susan Striker's Anti-Coloring Books are great for use in the elementary school classroom. They are wonderful sources of ideas for young writers (grades 1- 5) who just need a spark to get them writing. Books in the series can be put at writing centers for the children to work on independently and later share with a small group of peers. They are also great for encouraging children to write about a variety of everyday events, people, feelings, and so on, in their journals. Striker's series is a highly motivating and inexpensive way to get the creative juices flowing!

Ars Componendi Sermones (Dallas Medieval Texts and Translations, 2)
Published in Hardcover by Peeters Publishing (2003)
Authors: Ranulf Higden, Margaret Jennings, Sally A. Wilson, and Elie A. Wardini
Amazon base price: $

Higden's Ars componendi
Higden's Ars componendi sermones, "The Art of Composing Sermons", gives concise and usable rules for composing an effective sermon: how to organize, explain, cite evidence, and win the audience's favor, among other topics. The translation by Sally Wilson gives anyone interested in the Middle Ages access to this important text. Margaret Jennings, who did the Latin edition of the Ars, has written an introduction which discusses the entire genre of preaching manuals, and her notes explain difficulties in Higden's text. The book also includes a bibliography and index, plus a description of the Latin manuscripts of Higden's original text.
Highly recommended for students of literature and rhetoric and of the Middle Ages.

A great compact guide to the AIC
This inexpensive softcover guide is nicely printed and contains an excellent selection of 256 masterpieces from the AIC. The color reproductions are quite good for a book this modestly sized. Each entry is accompanied by a generous amount of illuminating text. All in all, it's perfect for your next visit to the AIC, or simply for home browsing.

This book is a must for art therapists new and old!
This book is a wonderful entry into the world of groups that specifically use art therapy as the primary modality, altering the group leadership and group dynamics from the traditional group approach. These authors clearly explain how and why. The authors cover a wide spectrum of topics and discuss the intricate dilemmas of leading art therapy groups from the basics to the more advanced clinical and psychodyanmic issues that arise from the art therapy component. In particular they brilliantly address the more advanced issues that arise in art therapy groups regarding the movement between voice and image. This book is convincing, interesting to read and well written with pertinent topics for both introductory and advanced art therapists who lead groups. I use it for my art therapy group training graduate class and it has received high reviews from the students.

Brilliantly written and lavishly illustrated
Sir Peter O'Sulleven claims, in the foreword to this book, that Ascot is the most famous racecourse in the world. Whether it is or not, it has established itself as one of the most important racecourses in Britain over the past 200 years.

Ascot's history begins almost 300 years ago, in 1711, but took a long time to establish itself. Documentation of the early history is incomplete - for example, the result of the first race staged there is not known, although a list of all the horses competing was preserved. Apparently, the person who was supposed to record the result didn't turn up to see the race. Such modest beginnings contrast sharply with what Ascot later became.

This book, written with the co-operation of the royal family, explains their role down the years. You are not left in any doubt which kings and queens enjoyed horse racing and which ones were uninterested.

Ascot only really started to blossom in the reign of King George III, who was the subject of the movie The madness of King George. The king was not interested in horse racing, but his son the Prince Regent was, and it was he (who eventually became King George IV) who made Ascot into a major racecourse, which it has remained ever since. The prince was also responsible for beginning all the pageantry that has now become part of the Ascot scene every June.

Despite the royal patronage and the fashions, ultimately it is the racing that most of us are really interested in. Many champion racehorses have competed at Ascot and their exploits are given plenty of coverage. Although not a champion in the true sense of the word, Brown Jack was a very popular horse in the 1920's and a whole chapter is devoted to his exploits.

The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes was inaugurated in 1951 and has now become Ascot's most prestigious race. Run at the end of July, it has been won by some great champions including Ribot, Nijinsky, Mill Reef, Brigadier Gerard, Dahlia (twice), Shergar, Dancing Brave, Lammtarra, Swain (twice), Daylami and Galileo. Plenty of coverage is given to this great race, including the exciting finish in which Grundy beat Bustino.

Traditionally, the Gold Cup was Ascot's most prestigious race. Staged on the Thursday of the royal meeting in June, it is run over two and a half miles. It is still a race worth winning, but despite some popular winners such as Sagaro (who won three Gold Cups) and Double Trigger, this race is not particularly important these days. In the nineteenth century, horses who won the Epsom Derby as three-year-olds sometimes ran in the Gold Cup as four-year-olds. They did not always win, but many did, notably Isinglass, the Triple Crown winner of 1894, in 1895. No modern Epsom Derby winner would attempt to win the Gold Cup. The Gold Cup is given plenty of coverage in the book.

Ascot has also seen plenty of champion milers, including Brigadier Gerard, Kris, Rose Bowl, Warning and Dubai Millenium, while steeplechasing and hurdling also get covered. Desert Orchid won eight times there, including his thrilling victory over Panto Prince in the 1989 Victor Chandler.

A chapter is devoted to the extraordinary day in 1996 when Frankie Dettori rode all seven winners, a feat unlikely to be matched in my lifetime.

This is a magnificent book, well worth the price, which tells you everything you need to know about one of the greatest racecourses in the world.
