Best "under the hood" book available for AD
This is great book containing a lot of very useful detail information about Active Directory, which is otherwise rather hard to find. The examples are real-world type of examples - the authors don't simply repeat other tech-information, but put it into context allowing the reader to really use the features of AD for their environment. I found, that the book is also very up to date containing a lot of good information about the changes of AD and the respective tools in Windows Server 2003. This is not a beginners book - I'd suggest it for the experienced, who wants to dig down even deeper.

Paid for itself already...
I thought the price of $... was a little steep, but it turns out to be the best insurance policy I ever purchased. Last week I was in hot water with my boss when we couldn't figure out what was going on with the visibility/searchability of some key objects in the directory. I turned to this book and found an answer in about 5 minutes (after spending almost 4 hours battling with microsoft premier support to no avail...)

I would reccomend this highly to anyone who works closely with AD - development, architecture, or operations. It is the only book of its kind, and believe me... when you really NEED to know, you will be glad you have it.

A guide for the perplexed modern
If the modern world seems confusing read this book. This book helps me keep perspective when I see the turmoil of world events. It is a guide to the major intellectual and social transitons happening all around us. Most of us can see that our particular part of the world is in trouble -- look at any profession or social institution and the cracks in the foundation are evident. Sally Goerner's thesis is that we are undergoing the biggest social transformation since at least the middle ages and probably since the beginning of known history. The driving force behind the transition from medieval to modern was the development of a new mathematics, physics and astronomy which fundamentally changed how people saw the place of man in the cosmos. These intelectual tools eventually led to the development of the industrial society in which we now live. In the past 30 years there has been similarly powerful new developments in mathematics and all other sciences which Sally calls web dynamics. You may have heard of chaos theory which is one aspect of a much larger way of understanding complex systems which develop out of the operation of many forces. This new understanding is changing the old competitive, isolated, reductionist and individualistic social structures in favor of an understanding of the world based on complex, self-organizing systems which evolve cooperatively as well as competitively. It has implications for every aspect of social, poilitcal and intellectual life from physics and biology to medicine and education. This book helps us see the much larger patterns which are often obscured in the choas of world affairs and gives some hope and direction for making a positive difference in the outcome.

This book is terrific!
Ms. Goerner has managed to integrate the disparate cultural, scientific and intellectual trends of the late 20th Century into a cohesive and comprehensible whole. One could say that she has transformed chaos into order, at least for this reader. Bravo!

Brilliant, Brave History Hot as Today's Headlines
Political thriller, historical drama, crime and coverup, love and hate, disaster and redemption--Sally Denton's fast-paced, beautifully written account of the Mountain Meadow Massacre has it all. For a century-and-a-half, the worst atrocity of its kind in American annals went so little or marginally written about that it was one of our history's dirty secrets. But now Denton, a nationally-honored author and investigative journalist, gives it the definitive book it deserves--an achievement all the more impressive because of the courage and wisdom it took in a woman who is herself a descendant of Mormon pioneers. Terrorism and religious fanaticism hardly began with Islamic radicals September 11, 2001. It's as American as apple pie and massacre in a lovely Utah meadow. No history is more relevant to understanding our world, our America. Don't miss this one!

Important Book
This book is terrific. Not only it is great history, it is wonderfully written. Denton has tackled a great stain upon the history of the Mormon church--the massacre of more than 100 members of a wagon train headed west in 1857. She traces the history of the Mormon church to help explain both how its members could and would be nervous about outsiders, and how its leaders then tried to cover up a case of cold-blooded murder. When you are done reading it--and you will finish it; it is impossible to put down--you will have a better understanding of how this church became important and how and why it remains so mysterious to so many.

Inspirational verses from the angels
My mom sent me this book a while back as a gift. Each two pages is illustrated with an angel and golden decorations that give the book a touch of class. It is what it has to say that is worth a hundred times more than the price. Each two pages are titled with a different angel and words of wisdom to go along with it.

Examples would be Angel of Compassion, Angel of Giving, and Angel of Commitment, which is one I re-read often. This book is a great gift or something to fall back on again and again. Kelsana 12/14/01

A great inspirational gift book
Angel Prayers is a great inspriational book to be read daily. I've given many away as gifts; the words seem to fit any given situation. I also like her other book 100 Ways to Attract Angels.

you'll never cook the same again
I too would've never bought this book based on the title. Lucky me, a friend gave it as a present. Ok, favorite recipe: the roast chicken with a pierced lemon in its cavity is so tasty, I dare you pass up on the skin! I make it all the time. Oh, and it works with a small orange just as well. Then there's the polenta recipes, and the chicken pot pie...

God bless this woman because she loves food and finds ways to prepare delicious food that's healthy. She's experimented plenty in order to deliver flavorful recipes for dishes that are low in fat, sodium and calories. I think anyone who loves food and cooking should own this book. And anyone who's on a restricted diet should definitely try this cookbok.

Finally, I have to say that I think Maria Robledo is the best food photographer in the business. It's impossible to look at her pictures and not feel like making and/or eating the food in them. It's no wonder that they've teamed up again. Bravo to both women on an excellent cookbook!

lousy title, fabulous cookbook
I am an avid cookbook collector and cook, and I am not kidding when I say that this is one of my most often used and enjoyed cookbooks. It was given to me by a dear friend, I would never have bought a low-calorie cookbook on my own. This is not a great low-calorie cookbook, it is a great cookbook, period.

There are wonderful recipes for a home smoked salmon, a great Irish Soda Bread, and a few brilliant ideas for duck that have become favorites in my house.

I love her general approach to eating. She does not promote the use of "diet" ingredients like margarine or artificial sweeteners, but encourages judicious use of the real thing. She has tested the recipes carefully to determine just how much of the "fattening" ingredients are necessary to make a dish, like cassoulet, for example, taste good without the outrageous amount of fat that is usual for that dish. She also provides nutritional info for each recipe.

My only concern about this book is that the only readers who are likely to look at it (because of the title) are dieters, and that's a shame because it's likely to be appealing to a much broader readership is they only knew to check it out!

THE FISRT ATLAS OF ONCOLOGY PET-SCAN
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an imaging technique that provides physicians and researchers with unique information about the body's chemistry. Unlike computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which primarily examine anatomy, PET allows us to visualize body function.

Positron Emission Tomography is a non invasive, diagnostic imaging technique for measuring the metabolic activity of cells in the human body. It is useful clinically in patients with certain conditions affecting the brain and the heart as well as in patients with certain types of cancer. The field of PET has been quickly emerging into clinical diagnostic medicine. PET has been in clinical use since the early 1990s.

There is considerable information about PET inside this book

This Atlas attempts to distil more than five year's of clinical PET imaging, it indicate chapter after chapter, to clinicians the role of PET in improvings patient care.

In Introduction and inside the first part, readers can find some information about technical aspects of imaging and the scientific bases of nuclear physics, positron annihilation, imaging acquisition, and scanners.

In the Second part, the most important, authors comment each clinical issues. 1.Lymphoma 2.Lung Cancer 3. Breast Cancer 4.Head & Neck Cancer 5.Colorectal Cancer 6. Melanoma 7.Primary Brain tumour And Evolving oncology applications (Thyroid & para, Oesophagus, Liver, Renal...)

In the Last Part, this book talk about other applications of PET in Neurology and Psychiatrics, Cardiology Fields.

Inside each chapter, you can find important indications, suggest algorithm incorporating PET, lot of illustration B&W and color, clinical cases, and bibliography.

Most of this atlas is devoted to oncology. I was very please to read this Atlas.

Atlas of Clinical Positron Emission Tomography
This is a very good book. This book covers from Basic to date advances in PET. This book should be used as hand book of PET.

A must read -- a page turner!
Riveting and educational! A page turner! Marty Mann was an incredible woman and we finally get to read about her life in detail. This is a must read for those who are recovering from alcoholism, those affected by alcoholism, social service and public health providers and legislatures. We have much to learn from Marty Mann and we must continue her mission today.

An unforgettable biography
As its title implies, A Biography Of Mrs. Marty Mann, The First Lady Of Alcoholics Anonymous is the uplifting life story of a singularly strong and incredible woman - one who crusaded to teach all of America, men and women, that alcoholism is a treatable disease. Her life, which spanned most of the 20th century encompasses despair, hope, and redemption through crusading to battle the pernicious evils of alcoholism, and perhaps just as bad, ignorance about the nature of alcoholism. In Marty's own words, "People who dislike the terms 'alcoholic' and 'alcoholism' should consider the alternative of not knowing what was the matter with them and could believe only that they were hopelessly insane." An unforgettable biography of one of America's most fervent public-health reformers.

Simple and Delectable
I found this book in a library many years ago. After trying several recipes, I decided I needed to own it. Every single recipe was fast and easy (especially if done in a food processor) and made me look like a domestic goddess! At least three of my friends have bought this book as a result of the scones I've made for them. I also like the book of Pancakes and Waffles by Elizabeth Alston. If she ever writes a book entirely on small meals for two, I'll be first in line with cash in hand!

Easy, perfect scones and shortcakes
After tasting yummy scones with creme fraiche and berry preserves at a high tea in London, I borrowed this book from a friend and tried several recipes. Breakfast Berry Shortcakes (p. 18) are the best ones I've very eaten, although sinfully laden with butter. And I've never before found a recipe for creme fraiche (p. 19), so much more delicious on scones than plain whipped cream. The raisin scones and simple sweet scones lived up to the ones I ate in Britain. There are complete directions and discussions with each recipe.

Excellent Resource
I recently finished this book and was delighted with the ideas set forth. As many Americans, I had never heard of this technique before. I am currently attending school for a degree in Architecture and am very environmentally oriented. The author provided an easy to understand framework for the process and even better examples. This building technique of minimal impact on the land is a great idea and I am glad that I found this book. These principles have definitely furthered my understanding of how such simple things can make such a difference. I am truly influenced by the nature's envelope technique.

Great Building/Development Resource
Finally something on the most neglected part of so many construction projects: the landscape interface between a building and it's site.

Not only does this book cover a huge geographic area for the subject of environmentally-sensitive building placement and landscape salvage/retention/revegetation, but it does it accurately. The techincal "how-to" steps are for professionals and homeowners alike, and all in the Wasowski's easy-to-read language.

Hopefully EVERY developer will study and apply all the principles found in this book. Too bad it isn't the law for the development and home buyer to comply with the principles found herein!
