A must for those who want entrepreneurial children
I found Emmanuel Modu's book to be a necessity for all parents. Not just because it helps them encourage their kids into the business world, but also because it provides a guidline on how to help children become independent thinkers and happy individuals. Mr. Modu pinpoints many mistakes paretns [unintentionally]make while trying to teach their kids about the ways of life. After reading "The Lemonade Stand", parents will be able to overcome such mistakes and help groom their offspring into freethinking and dyamic people. If you take evertying written in this book to heart, you may be raising the next Rockeffellar or Larry Ellison ;)

This book should be read by adults as well as children. If you are a individual starting your own business for the first time and without any knowledge of how to manage a business then the lemonade stand is where you should start. chapters 10, 11 and 12 were very helpful for me. A well written book Mr Modu.

Ten Inspirational Women...
What do Rosa Parks, Mary McLeod Bethune and Shirley Chisholm all have in common? They're three of the ten extraordinary African American freedom fighters in Andrea Davis Pinkney's marvelous collection, Let It Shine. These are strong women who didn't just sit back and accept the status quo, but met challenges head on and took action to change the world and make it a better place. These ten dynamic women were never silent, even when they thought no one was listening, faced discrimination, inequality and racism, triumphed in their battles against oppression and for civil rights and inspired those who followed in their footsteps. Told in easy to read, conversational style, each chapter is rich in both anecdotal and historical detail and accompanied by Stephen Alcorn's beautiful and bold oil painting illustrations. Perfect for youngsters 10 and older, Let It Shine also makes a wonderful read-aloud book the entire family can share and enjoy.

Continuing the Legacy
"Let It Shine: The Stories of Ten Black Women Freedom Fighters" is an amazing, entertaining, and educational journey back through time for both children and adults alike. The stories accurately depict the changing face of America for all people. The author, Andrea Davis Pinkney, uses a combination of oral stories and historical facts to re-create the lives of ten African American women "freedom fighters" (a.k.a. civil rights activists.) The descriptive language Pinkney uses keeps the style of the text upbeat and enjoyable. Among the list of women are Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks. However, there is also a presence of many unknown women, such as Shirley Chisholm, an inspirational politician, and Biddy Mason, a one-time slave with never ending generosity. The stories are quite diverse, spanning a history of nearly the entire 20th century. Some of these historical references include the signing of the emancipation proclamation, the peaceful demonstrations of the civil rights movement, and the Democratic Convention of 1968. There is one common, underlying goal of each story- inspiration. From Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad to Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat, there is a sublte undertone that promotes and requires action. These women learned that justice comes from not only speaking, but doing. Their stories and successes encourage people of all ages to get up and fight against inequality. The combination of descriptive oral stories and historical facts, along with the colorful illustrations, keep readers of any age interested in this text.

A Wonderful "Community" Cookbook!
I really love this cookbook. Andrea Bliss Lerman has compiled a nice variety of recipes, many of which are contributed from famous names in the Macrobiotic Family. I especially enjoyed the recipe for Chapati contributed by Cornellia Aihara from the George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation. It is a flat bread made from finely ground whole wheat flour, water and sea salt that she discovered from India. There is also the Quick and Tasty Noodle Vegetable Delight from Meredith McCarty from the East West Center for Macrobiotics in Eureka, California.

If you are looking for variety in the macrobiotic diet like I was, I recommend The Macrobiotic Community Cookbook. It has wonderful recipes from breakfast through desert. I am sure you will find many that will wet your appetite.

tasty, many choices, includes tortillas from whole corn
Andrea Bliss Lerman has thoroughly researched these favorite recipes from many people in the macrobiotic community. The basics are all there and the desserts are delicious. I especially like the traditional tortilla recipe from whole corn. It tastes really great made with blue corn.

Great Story Time Reading
I read sections from Made in China to my kids as a bedtime story - they like to listen to this as much as fictional stories. Great illustrations too.

A gift to the World!
A fantastic book that shows the contributions which the Chinese over centuries have given to the world. Highly recommended! Its illustrations are culturally relevant and sensitive! Rennie Mau President, MPEC Multicultural Publishing and Education Council

The Mystic Path
Published in Paperback by Amorc Funds ()
Author: Raymund Andrea
Amazon base price: $13.95

The Most Important Book on Mysticism
Raymund Andrea was a lifelong Rosicrucian (AMORC) and served as Grand Master of the Rosicrucian Order's British Jurisdiction from 1921 until 1946. Mr. Andrea says; ...the church has lost its hold upon the modern mind. It is necessary to say it to encourage those who have the confidence to follow the light of their own aspiring souls and demonstrate the Christ Consciousness fearlessly in their own lives. That is the keynote of the new age. Mysticism looks to no creed, acknowledges no concocted articles of religion, gives no allegiance to church or theologian, ignores the imposing authority of men and priests, and makes humble obeissance to one, and one only-the living, energizing spirit within the temple of the soul". Other books/authors for those on the spiritual path are: "KYBALION"; "ZELATOR"; "Ancient and Modern Initiation"-by Max Heindell; "Rules for Spiritual Initiation"-by Zachary Lansdowne; "Meditation"-by Sri Chinmoy; "The Secret Life of Nature"-by Peter Tompkins; and the books by Rudolph Steiner, Alice Bailey, Douglas Baker, Vera Stanley Alder, and Manly P. Hall.

gives you answers
For those traveling on the Spiritual path, sometimes things happen to us that we do not understand, like why we question Gods Love or existance, why we sometimes think God has left us, whats the use going forward, What the purpose of it all, This books explains that certain feelings are normal on the Spiritual path, that we are not alone having these feelings, that if we persist we move through the doubt, ect. It also sets up some guidlines as to what we can do to move forward. Very helpful

NCLEX Review
This book is so simple and literally very easy to follow!! The best thing about this book is that everything is in an outlining format (not paragraphs!!) and every piece of information is critical!

NCLEX Review
This NCLEX review is tops. I have not found one that is easier to read. The one page per topic format is great for visual type learners. Great for intended purpose or for a "quickie" refresher.

Detailed chronicle of Berlin's new architecture
I can only concur with the previous reviwer.

Having just returned from Berlin, fascinated and inspired as travellers to the German capital almost always are, I wanted to get a few books about some of the exciting new architecture that is going on there. This book was an excellent choice.

This is not a glossy picture book that you would put on your table, but there are certainly plenty of pictures and drawings. The text is just right for someone like me - that is, it does not assume I am an architect or engineer and is not written in highly detailed technical language, but neither is it written for an idiot.

This is a really good book for anyone who enjoys or is interested in Berlin's recent architecture. I spent several days savouring it.

A Great Guide to the new Berlin!
Berlin is a city that is in transformation. A city returning from division to greatness. While in Berlin, I was amazed at the rapid rate at which this city is transforming itself.

So much of former East Berlin has been resurrected from the communist architecture that plagued it for several decades. Freidrichstrasse is rebuild, there are gleaming office buildings around the former Checkpoint Charlie, The post 1989 noman's land that consumed the Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz is now full of live and buildings again, and the huge wasteland of Potsdammer Platz is now packet with stunning, altermodern buildings- including the magnficant Sony Center- a true architecture masterpiece.

This book chronicals the changes Berlin has undergone, and as chronicals many of the changes that are still in the works. With the exception of Alexander Platz (which renovation plans for just were approved recently).

Through wonderful pictures, models, and illustrations this book shows you the new Berlin.... and it also has wonderful descriptions for every building as well as location and what U or S line to take.

A great book showing the new Berlin. Beautifully done.

New Beginnings

Hope and Faith
This book was a blessing for our family. The poetry and prose helped us to get through a very distressing time. The authors: Lisanne D'Andrea-Winslow and her sister, Diane Bifano convey a spiritual relationship that contains a universal theme. I encourage anyone who is going through a loss to read the words of faith and hope shared by their family.

Comments by Douglas Holder, Ibbettson St. Press
Lisanne D'Andrea- Winslow captures the nuances of the strong bond between mother and child, and her sense of futility and anger as she saw her infant slowly fade. She recounts the disbelief, the stages of letting go, the constant pull of flights of fancy, the ache, the pain, and the inevitable death. The book is a lyrical, honest and evocative account of an experience that one should never have to go through. Winslow did, and she survived to give a report from a side of life we often cast a blind eye towards.
