OUTSTANDING AND RELEVANT EVEN TODAY
Thomas Davey's "A Generation Divided" provides an evocative view of the thoughts of children living in a divided Berlin during a critical juncture of the Cold War. Davey's writing is beautiful and the psychological portraits provided are truly inspiring. This book is an essential benchmark for future scholars and a guide to East-and-West perspectives that resonate today. The book's power and drama come not only from the deeply affecting look at the political socialization of children, but also from the words and colorful drawings of the children themselves. This is a profound work. I very much hope that Davey will at some point follow-up with an update on the lives of the children interviewed now that Berlin has fallen. What a sequel that would make! This book is heartily recommended.

You need a Gnome in your home!
This would be a terrific book for a grandmother or older sister to use with little kids, particularly if the kids like stories about elves or gnomes.

The book has instructions and patterns for a variety of gnomes in several different sizes and styles. Most are made of felt with the addition of nuts, beads, pipecleaners and other easily found craft supplies.

Many of the projects could be completed by a 6-7 year old with some help from an adult or teen. Younger kids could help by finding feathers, nuts, seeds, etc to be used to trim the gnomes somebody else makes.

This book will enable Children to produce really nice projects to use for decorations or gifts. Turn off the TV and the computer and spend an evening making gnomes. You will find that it is truely magic!

God Loves You a repeat winner!
God Loves You, A pop up book is one of those books that is a true gem. The bright, fanciful pictures, simple words and "magic" pop ups characters absolutely fascinate my grandchildren and the children in my day care. The content of the book is easy for them to understand, and the reinforcement of "God Loves You" on each page makes them feel loved. They soon repeat the phrase with me as we read. It is a wonderful book.

Great children's book!
This true story of a young Mississippi boy who gets to knowCharles Lindbergh is a fun gentle history. In the increasingly fastworld of the present, Lindbergh's revolutionary flights seem quaint and old-fashioned. This is a wonderful introduction to historical biography.

The best re-telling of Bible parables for kids I've ever see
I love this book! I've been reading all or part of it to my 3-year-old daughter every day lately, and we don't get tired of it! Mack Thomas takes five loved parables, like the Prodigal Son, Wise and Foolish Builders, and the Lost Penny, and incorporates them all together in a narrative that follows the shepherd through his search for his one sheep that wandered off. It brings the Bible stories down to kids' levels in an exceptional way, and I almost cry every time he finds his lamb at the end. I'm buying extra copies to give as gifts.

Great to see a Lowry book for younger readers
Talk about a versatile author! And laugh-out-loud funny, too. Teachers in grades 1-4 are going to love reading this one in classrooms. Gooney Bird is an endearing second-grader who has a lot of practical wisdom to dispense and is able to do it with verve and self-confidence (and while wearing a tutu!) Imagination really CAN change the tone of a classroom and this charming book will show everyone just how it does.

Our family loved "Gunfire at Gettysburg"
My 7 year old son brought this book home from school this winter. He and my 11 year old daughter were spellbound listening to the story. The unique part of this book is the 10 or so different outcomes depending on choices presented throughout the story. They re-read the book several times, each time picking a different outcome. Gunfire at Gettysburg also stimulated their interest in history, as they asked many questions about the characters in the book. The storyline has many exciting moments such as encounters with soldiers, including General Lee. Since it was told from the perspective of a young boy, it was very easy to imagine yourself there during the battle. Since we read the book, we have been to visit Gettysburg twice in the last six months including attending the battle re-enactment last weekend. Now they have rented the movie "Gettysburg" ! Thank you for getting the kids away from Nickleodeon! There are several more titles in this series also. A format like this is a great way to teach history to kids.

A tad on the expensive side, but well worth the money.
I was able to purchase this book through a professional book club at a substantially lower price, so for me to say that "you must have this book," is easy for me to say. Nevertheless...

I have used this book countless times in my family therapy courses because this handbook presents a comprehensive overview of the current practice with regard to the intervention approaches in the child and family psychotherapy. Specific problems are dealt with in a cogent, yet thorough fashion with a plethora of research to buttress the assertions made.

This book is a compilation of current trends of intervention with specific problems and populations, containing empirical support of each approach, and the integration of treatment approaches.

The book may be a little pricey, but I look at purchases such as these as an investment in my career.
