A Very Good Book for Beginning Literacy Teachers
I used this texbook in Elementary Reading Methods classes at Illinois State University. I found it to be a practical, reader-friendly textbook that my students enjoyed very much. I especially appreciated the fact that it contained much valuable information about teaching phonics in an integrated way. The phonics content contained in it was very useful.

Special education will never be the same again!!
This was a magnificent and fascinating exploration of how the various ideas and theories that we always considered to be so fundamental to special education, have done nothing but send us off in the 'wrong direction'. I was impressed by how the authors mananged to squeeze so much into such a small book. The range of intellectual traditions and concepts they draw on is quite dazzling! This book should be read by anyone with an interest in education, whether special or not.

Straight forward, professional and an interesting "read".
This book was one of several recommended by Paul Dombrowski,PhD, Technical Writing Track, English, University of Central Florida. The course was for master level tech writing majors, Bibliographic and Research Methods 5931. Of the many books we evaluated, this one was on everyone's list as being one to have as an "active reference". For us, merry souls that we often are, that meant a book you keep near your computer as opposed to just in the room or just in the building, or borrow from the library once. I am currently working on a series of surveys for a college and the book is right on the desk.

In the book somebody steals the manger for the Christmas play that was really worth alot of money. When the lady who let's them borrow it finds out, boy is she angry! Alot of strange things happen in the story like a fire starting all of a sudden during the rehearsel.
