A good book for kids about the old times in baseball
I really liked this book about the old times in baseball. It had all the details but it was a good story too. I used it for a book report and I said Thomas Gilbert writes like a hulking yet nimble-footed whiffle ball player because we were doing similies and metaphors too and it moved fast but gave all the information about the old black players. It was interesting to learn about Jacky Robinson and all them.

It's not just about a bear!
I have used this book for five or six years as a storyreader in schools all over the east coast. It is a story of freedom and justice, love and compassion and has sparked some marvelous discussions in 4th,5th and 6th grades. A warm story of an angry man who befriends a misused bear and sets him free and in that act frees himself of his own anger and mistrust. I love this book!!

This book is an insight to a world very different from ours
This book, an insight to the life of a handicapped man, depicts the true harships that someone of that nature must unwillingly endure. Thomas, showed greta courage and stamina, even up to his death. "Because of Thomas" reminds us of how lucky we are, and I am happy to say that the window ofother worlds has been opened up for me to see what these people went through. This book is encouraging, not negative. I found it very capturing but at the same time a vivid reminder of those who struglle through each day but make the most of it.

Every Educator Should Read This Book
Tom Hoerr's book BECOMING A MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES SCHOOL should be at the top of every educator's list of books to read. Tom tells it like it is and doesn't gloss over the hurdles and challenges he and his staffs were faced with at the New City School during the process of becoming a Multiple Intelligences School.

One can appreciate Tom's honesty and openness when he discusses the difficulties during the phases of MI implementation. His success lies in his approach, which recognizes that these frustrations are necessary steps for the growth and development of any organization.

Great emphasis was placed on developing collegiality among Tom's staff during this courageous journey. I found it refreshing to read about the New City staff as they learned from one another as true colleagues and as real partners. It is apparent that they grew professionally in their roles as educators from their experiences while implementing MI.

It certainly is a challenge for classroom teachers to design their own curriculum and to create assessments to determine student achievements. But the thrill and sense of accomplishment in creating many ways of learning and making the material accessible to all students makes the effort more than worthwhile.

Having read Tom's book I am once again inspired to enthusiastically continue on my own journey, taking on new challenges as I implement MI in my first grade classroom at Epstein Hebrew Academy.

An excellent workbook to suppliment your child's schoolwork.
I bought this book to give my 2nd grader something to do during our long winter break, and love it! It's well thought-out, well laid-out, and takes a child through a logical progression of practice to real mastery. It's more than just a "trace the letters" workbook, and well worth the price. Don't hesitate, buy it!

Thank you Nedalee
This book was an absolute answer to prayer. The honesty and integrity that Nedalee wrote with was such a blessing to my life. I found hope and understanding for my heart. I had searched and searched for godly counsel and finally found a source that was "sound doctrine". Raising two adopted children, sometimes the "call" gets hard. We all need to be encouraged. This book was such an encouragement to my husband and I. Nedalee stated so accurately the struggles that we were going through and brought understanding to our hearts on how to deal with the struggles in a way that was pleasing to the Lord. I would like to encourage ANYONE who is struggling with kids to read this book.

A very highly recommended literary and visual treasure trove
Best Friends: A Collection Of Classic Stories is an anthology compiled by Jean C. Fischer of true biographies and excerpts from famous novels for children and young adults, presented with captivating full-color paintings by Thomas Kinkade. Some of the heartwarming stories that Best Friends draws material from include "The Secret Garden," "Anne of Green Gables," Sacagawea's life story, and "Little Women." Enhanced vignettes and border art by Kevin Burke, Best Friends makes for excellent bedtime stories and also serves as a gateway to hopefully inspire young folks to track down the classic texts from which it draws. Best Friends is a very highly recommended literary and visual treasure trove for young readers.

Like a little boy's (or girl's!) wish list!
"Big and Noisy" is my two-and-a-half year-old son's version of a security blanket right now. He loves the book, loves making the sounds of the machinery, and takes the book everywhere he goes. I didn't realize how much he'd absorbed until a couple of weeks ago, when we took a trip through a section of interstate that was under construction. He could name EVERY piece of heavy machinery that we passed! A very fun book for this toddler age!
