Black Mothergoose Booke
I absolutley love this book. It is not often that a book of this quality geared toward African American children is available. The illustrations using an African American Humpdy Dumpy are the most impressive. I read this book to my neice until she got old enough to read it herself. I feel that she had an interest in this book because the characters resembled her.

Well-done story, fabulous illustrations
For a good background on Booker T. Washington that does not try to place blame (for slavery), this is the book to read. It gave a lovely story on his life, without getting into politics. The real joy of this book are the illustrations. The artist captures the essence of the time and the person in beautifully rendered paintings. While children will enjoy the "pictures" and the story, anyone will appreciate this as a wonderful art book. The artist has done another children's book that is just as beautiful as this one. Between the author and the artist, Booker T. Washington's life was captured in an unforgettable way. Look forward to seeing and reading more from both these talented people!

I sobbed when reading this book.
Being a mother of four boys with an absent father, I felt thisbook might be for me. This book is an "easy read", takingonly a few hours to complete. As I read it, I experienced the pain andlonliness of "Randy" the child of divorce. I saw him react to the absence of his father and pictured my own boys in the same situation. This book provides an intensly honest look at our "Fatherless Generation". We have come to take for granted that all will "work out" without fathers. This story shows, in devastating detail, how children need BOTH parents in their lives. Both mothers and fathers should read this book, whether married, separated or divorced...this book will have a powerful impact on the value you place on the family unit. Our children's lives are at stake!

Great for Teens and their Parents!
Having the opportunity to teach the "after school Bible study" for pre-teens, some of which have had no interaction with the Bible, I searched and found this 'Ultimate Handbook'. I showed it to several of the parents of the children involved, and the parents are picking out which lessons I should teach next with great excitment!

This book shows these pre-teens how the Bible relates to their lives, wheather it is "over-reacting" (teens don't do that!), "self acceptance", or dealing with rumors, cliques or gossip. These topics can all be found in the Bible, but the Bible is a big book, and this handbook not only covers it, but shows kids where in the Bible to find the answers.

In addition, it talks to the kids using the "proper lingo". Some of the chapter titles are "Dissed" (dealing with respect), "Let's get Real" (dealing with honesty), and "Totally Awesome" (Maintaining a Sense of Wonder).

There are also chapters that are more suited for the high school students such as "Weight of the Wait" (Sex and Intimacy), "The Ex-Files" (Handling breakups), and "Endless Possibilities" (Planning for the Future).

The basketball coaches are so excited about the values and life-coping lessons in this book - those that they are unable to teach at the public school, that they are cancelling basketball practice (one day a week) so the children can attend the study!

My turnout for the study has been about 98% of the 5th thru 8th graders in the whole school................... What else can I say.............. if the kids come to listen, it must be worthwhile!

A little boy growing up in Wales
A Child's Christmas in Wales is an excellent book. A well made classic. I recieved the book at Christmas time and I read it. It soon became my favorite book. My davorite part is when he pretends he is smoking with candy cigarettes and everyone loks at him disgusted when they walk by. And even though the e-mail says Ralph, thats my dad and I'm Laura Johnson.
