Great Swashbuckling Fun for Kids (and Adults!)
This book was impossible to put down! I am well above the age range intended for this book, but it was so much fun to read I read it in one sitting! The author has obviously thoroughly researched pirate history, and so the book was not only entertaining and a hoot for youngish readers, but also educational. I really got a sense of what it must of been like--and it ain't like the movies! This is a great book for young and old alike. I dare you to put it down once you've started.
Arrr Matey! Pick this one up today!
I really enjoyed it! It was so good that I couldn't put it down. I liked the suspense, and the way the characters went with the story. I loved the detail, because it was like you were really there, watching the story pass by you! I could picture the pirates in my head--the spit coming down their chin and their greasy hair; what they ate--I could smell it. I even made cookies that were 'piratey' cookies (they ended up tasting like something that was dunked in sea water. Bleck!) This surpasses all the other pirate history books, because it made it fun; it was a fun way of learning about pirates and about how they had to live. I recommend this book for the adventurous type!
Excellent for Kids and parents can enjoy it too!
As a parent, I found this book to be a real treasure. I try to read what my child is reading. My daughter's reading level is above her grade level so it is sometimes difficult to find books that are challanging to her, interesting, yet still content appropriate for her age. This book is all of that and a good book also. I can hardly wait to see what Michele publishes next.

Not One Recipe Has Gone Wrong!
I've had this book for a few years and just love it. The Eggplant Rolls with Ham are fabulous and so is the Macaroni with Smoked Mozzarella Sauce, and so is the mushroom and potato soup, but last night I made the Risotto with smoked ham and fennel and everyone LOVED it! Also, I made the peach cream with mascarpone and amaretti and it is so wonderful I had to whip up a second batch today! BUY THIS BOOK!
Absolutely the Best!
I am not an accomplished cook but love Italian food. This book made me look good when cooking for friends and family. The food tastes soo good and it's extremely EASY! You have to try the Eggplant / Ham rolls.
THE ONLY BOOK ON ITALIAN COOKING YOU WILL EVER NEED
This is the only book on Italian cooking you will ever need because this book has it all. Ruffino is not only a master cook, she is also a master teacher and this book proves it. The recipes are the best I've ever tasted and my personal favorite has to be the Spinach and Ricotta Crepes with Red Sweet Pepper Fondue--delicioso! This is more than a cookbook--it is an experience you'll want to savor again and again and share with your family and friends.

Wonderful Book!
I found this book as a result of an article in the local paper. That alone is proof there are no accidents! This book came to me at a time when I needed it the most, and provided me with the most precious gift I could ever wish for ~ hope. This book has touched me deeply and changed my life forever. I have purchased 10 more with the intention of sharing that hope with others. I look forward to more books by this inspiring author!
This book will change your life...
After reading this book, I now realize that we need to do more than just live our lives on the "medical defensive." We need to live our lives with the idea in mind that happiness can literally crowd out disease. We have so much more power over our own bodies than we ever possibly imagined.
Buy this book for a loved one who is struggling with disease. Read it aloud to that person if you can. Your life will be changed, right along with your loved one.
This book will change your life...
I initially ordered this book because I needed some help in dealing with fears about cancer recurrence. After reading it, however, I realized that I needed to do more than live life to keep from dying -- I needed to learn how to LIVE!
You don't need to have a life-threatening illness to benefit from this book. If you read it from cover to cover, your life will never be the same again.
Discus Fish

An excellent value
This is a great deal for a beginners book. Excellent information on planted tanks and all of the information you need to get started keeping discus. For this price you can't go wrong.
Professional Startup Advice on a Budget
When I began fishkeeping, I had a couple of angels and some other small fish like tetra and gourami in a 10 gallon tank. The water was always dirty, the filtration inadequate, and I lost a fish every other week. With the purchase of this book I obtained the information necessary to successfully keep these beautiful fish in my new 55 gallon planted aquarium. The most important lesson in this book is that while so many "experts" insist that discus keeping is difficult, it is really only difficult if you are not willing to put the required work into it. It means doing what you should do when keeping any type of fish. The only difference is that while most fish will survive a lapse in upkeep, discus will become more prone to disease if water conditions are not tended to. The book does a good job of initiating the beginner to the essentials without trying to scare newcomers away from the hobby. It covers every aspect thoroughly from discus background and natural habitat to recommended aquarium size, filtration, water conditioning, planting, breeding and disease diagnosis and treatment. It might be the only book you need, but at the very least it is a great book for beginners. I never bought another book, relying mainly on discus websites and forums and reading Jack Wattley's monthly column in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine for additional advice. My aquarium sparkles with clean water and healthy fish.
A great book for the price!
This is probably the least expensive book available on thesubject of Discus! But it packs lots of useful information about thefish and it's water chemistry! This book contains enough informationto encourage or discourage anyone interested in keeping Discus (It didencourage me). Although this book contains some color pictures, itonly shows few of the many color variations available in the markettoday. If your looking for a book that will introduce you to theworld of Discus keeping then this is it. But if your looking forpictorials of all the variations, then try the Aqualog ReferenceBooks..

Everyone Who Loves Italian Food Should Have This One!
As a collector of Italian cookbooks, I now count this one as one of my favorites. Michele Scicolone shares 250 wonderful recipes with very easy instructions, and adds a little extra note to each recipe. I hosted an Italian Buffet last year for 50 people, and used this book as my primary reference. The recipe for Frico (cheese wafers) and roasted Olives with Fennel and Lemon are so tasty, I serve them now with drinks everytime I entertain! This book offers a combination of both traditional Italian recipes, and those more contemporary with sometimes surprising ingredients. As the Italian Cooking Host @ Bella Online, and someone with over 150 Italian cookbooks in my collection, I would say this is definately a book to buy! My only regret is that there weren't more pictures as the ones included are so inspiring, it makes you want to run into the kitchen and start cooking.
There is a gustatory surprise on every page
Someone gave me a few cookbooks -- (never do this to an experienced cook!) Every time I reached for this book to bring to a recycle center some new recipe caught my eye. It's deceptive. The sidebars tell the stories you need to hear about the recipes. A tuna pesto? Sounds dull, no? It is a superb dish. A spaghetti sauce with only beets? (The cover photo tells it all.) A lentil and clam stew? Lentils with CLAMS ??? It works. It works brilliantly. This is not a basic book. But it is a wonderful addition to any Italian food library.
You'll want to catch the next plane to Italy.
A Fresh Taste of Italy is a marvelous resource foran array of recipes; terminology; history; and sources of ingredients. The author paints a glamourous picture of the great diversity that exists in Italian cuisine. If you purchase only one Italian cookbook...this is the one to get.
The Men Out There: A Woman's Little Black Book
Published in Paperback by Rutledge Books, Inc. (1997)
Amazon base price: $12.95

what's right about "The Men out There"
THE MEN OUT THERE offers women a chance to get it right after having made mistakes in past relationships. Barash and Kasson give sound advice about the types of men and how to decifer their faults. The authors emphasize how frequently women repeat their pattern over and over, so that the boy they liked in high school becomes the man they marry, divorce and remarry. These types of men are discussed, chapter by chapter and include: The Narcissist/isarmer, The Ambivalent Male, The Commitment Phobic/Serially Monogamous Male, The Champion Sport/Macho Male, The Stoic, The Workaholic, and the Married Man. By identitfying these personality types, women are able to look past a man's eye, smile, body language and achievements, to see what his underlying temperment really is. The authors stress that women, armed witht the ability to spot a certain dynamic, are better equipped to work toward minimizing a relationship's weaknesses and maximizing its strengths.
Guide to happiness
This book is for women everywhere, whether they are divorced, widowed or never married. Single women, looking to have a successful relationship, will benefit greatly from THE MEN OUT THERE: A WOMAN'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK. The book guides women so that they do not make the same mistakes as in the past, and are able to get rid of a bad partner and be able to choose the right partner the next time. The book has a final chapter on finding Mr. Right and it advises women not to let the past get into a present relationship, to give time and energy to the man she chooses, not to be critical and to be open-minded. Barash and Kasson also stress that women should not be fearful, coming out of a divorce or failed relationship, but to have confidence. Communication is a key part of successful relationships, along with acceptance, according to the authors, and they show women how to do it the right way. If you read this book, you can change your love life!
Read this book and change your life!
Here is a wonderful guide book that helps women to get relationships right, whether they are married or single. The authors look at ten types of men, from the 'Narcissist/Disarmer to "The Stoic" to the "Instant Family Man" and through interviews with hundreds of women, point out why these relationships succeed or fail. The authors warn against women who date the same kind of man over and over again, without success, and show one how to break their pattern. For women today, who want a partner but need to be in touch with their own desires as well, this book is a must read. I read it and found the right guy-- because I learned how to do it. I highly recommend it -- read this book, change your life!
