best tarot book, ever
I have been attracted to tarot for many, many years but never could make sense of the booklets that come with the decks or the books you can buy separately. I would do a spread, read the booklet and then say, "ok this makes a little sense, but not much," and put the deck away for another year.

Then along comes this book! Wow, what an eye-opener. Michele Morgan takes the reader on a beautiful journey to their own intuition using tarot. The cards finally make sense because I intrepret them for me, instead of by trying to wade through jumbled meanings, user guidelines, and rules. Everything in the card is looked at to enhance your understanding--colours, numbers, figures, how one card meshes into another--it's brilliant.

It doesn't matter what deck you use--this book is appropriate to all of them, because it teaches you to listen to yourself.

I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a clear, satisfying, and EASY, tarot reading!

Beautifully written, warmly expressed
This is a wonderful book, whether you are a beginner or an experienced reader. The focus on intuition, with examples, enables a reader to make the cards come alive in your hands. The author's wonderful, heartfelt love affair with the magical Tarot comes alive in this book, and inspires the reader to fall in love as well. Highly recommended.

Refreshing and Renewing
I have been a student of the tarot for the past three years, and have read so many books and how to manuals! Then along comes Michele Morgan's "A Magical Course in Tarot".- And Believe me it truly is magical! The book is at once partly traditional in nature, but totally refreshing because Michele Morgan also offers us a renewed way to view all the traditional attitudes about Tarot, while at the same time allowing and encouraging the reader to experiment and lean toward your own feelings, interpretations and intuition. Reading this book was a liberating experience for me. The expamples and excercises she uses in the book are easy to do and create an interactive tarot card adventure. Most important is Michele's tongue in cheek writing style. Never forcing or overwhelming, she has the ability to laugh at herself, and to be free to explore new territory. She incorporates simple explanations, with an often humorous writing style the reader can easily relate to. The reader will feel as if he knows Michele or would like to meet her. I read this book very quickly because of her writing style, and would highly recommend it to any one interested in the tarot. It doesn't matter if you are an oldie or a newbie. Read this book!

Chinese Cookery
I bought this book when I was first learning to cook because I love Chinese food and wanted to do my own fried rice. While the other recipes are very good, this is the best fried rice you will ever eat. I no longer eat fried rice in restaurants because it cant match this.

Nothing Compares To This Cookbook!
My mother and I share this cookbook constantly. Now that there are some available used, I will be picking up my own copy. The recipes are amazing. Beginners and experts would enjoy them. My favorites are almond chicken and the sweet & sour sauce. The sauce is so good, it's the only kind my family eats. We never buy it. If you're looking for a good chinese cookbook with yummy recipes, easy to understand instructions, and obtainable ingredients--this is the one for you.

If you only own one cookbook, make it this one.
This is the best Chinese cookbook!!!! Every single thing I have cooked from it has been delicious - the fried rice is the best I have ever had anywhere - even my brother will cook it in order to eat it. The receipies have flavor, not soy sauce, and they are textured. This is NOT the stuff you get for $5.95 a plate at the food court. I also love the detailed description and histories of all the various Chinese cuisines and ingredients, as well as the defining of the types of prep. I am not a professional chef, but I do cook a lot, and I do cook and eat a lot of asian cuisine. Trust me, you want this cookbook!

Step-by-step process for enhancing moral capacity
There are seven essential virtues--empathy, conscience, self-control, respect, kindness, tolerance, and fairness--that the author believes helps a child deal with ethical challenges and pressures she will encounter throughout life. Each chapter offers strategies for enhancing moral intelligence including...a self-test to evaluate your child's virtue strength, practical ways to enhance the virtue (several to choose from, so you can choose the ones best suited to your child's temperament and learning style), discussion questions to help launch a dialog with your child, and much more. The one thing that was missing was information on what behavior is developmentally appropriate by age. For example the quizzes on each virtue are great...but perhaps it's not as serious if a 4-year-old is somewhat selfish or less empathetic than it is for a 12-year-old. Other than that and the occasional feeling like the book was written for some parents needing significant moral boosting themselves (advice like "don't ask your kids to lie for you"), I found the book very educational and uplifting.

Bottom line - This book provides tools to teach critical ethical principles to your child...enabling parents (teachers, etc.) to better model, inspire and reinforce these moral values.

Recommended for Parents and Educators
Dr. Michele Borba has a long and successful track record helping build the moral character of our youth. As an educator, I have long been quite familiar with her books and materials on building self esteem. Her concepts are not "feel good" simplistic ideas, but rather she works with the concept that self esteem comes from the acquisition of skills such as the seven virtues in this book. Building Moral Intelligence is an asset to parents who have a difficult job raising moral children in a society that offers many countering forces. I have used her book Parents DO Make a Difference in working with parent groups. I expect this book will be as valuable for parents and educators alike. Working with children and raising a family are both exciting yet challenging jobs. We are lucky to have Dr. Borba's help.

A moral education is as important as an academic one!
"Building Moral Intelligence" by Dr. Michele Borba is a book that every parent should read and own. In a world where there are so many negative influences on the internet, in the media, T.V. shows, magazines etc. many parents do not even realize the amount of immoral influences that our children are witnessing every single day. As parents, it is up to us to teach our children the importance of good character. We need to teach them about the seven essential virtues as Dr. Borba explains in her book!
I realize that I'm digressing from a review, but I want to say this. Our world and our lives have changed recently, but the one thing that remains the same is that our children are the future. And as Theodore Roosevelt said "To Educate a Person in Mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society" This book will not only help you raise good kids, it will open any readers eyes and hearts, inspiring them to build their moral intelligence as well. We must teach by example...this book will help you do that! If you want your kids to do the right thing, then this book is for you!

Full of information
This has been a very helpful book, explaining a lot of our hamster's behavior and helping us to care for her better. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that, once in a while, it leaves you hanging. For example, it explains the potential problems with various types of bedding material, but never comes right out and says which is best. Still, it's well worth getting, even if it's not perfect.

Best Book on Dwarfs
I wanted to hug this book, the pictures of the Dwaf Hamsters are so cute and cuddly. I really enjoyed reading about how to tame you Hammie, breeding, and personality. Its so cool that Dwarfs have their own book all about them, this is the only book you'll need, u have to get it!

LOTS OF PICTURES!
What makes a good book about hamsters? Lots of PICTURES. And this book has plenty! Cute little dwarfies smiling, dancing doing back flips, playing basketball and being cuuuute! Photographs, not just drawings. I think the best part of it is that only sick or injured hamsters are drawn. That way you never get to see an actual hamster in bad condition. Photos of animals that have been injured can be disturbing, especially for dwarf hamster-obsessed people like me. There are like 4 or 5 drawings only, and LOTS of photos. Tons! I love this book!
Even though it's pretty thin, this manual is close to complete. It focuses on the eveyday pet owner, not just on breeders. There are not too many home remedies, it mostly recommends taking your pet to the vet. The section on recuperating a lost hamster is smart. Valuable information. It doesn't go too technical but it tells it just like it is. No kiddie speak. Also, most of the hamsters pictured are gray, just like my own Campbell's dwarf. That has made the book so much more enjoyable. There's a section on how to distinguish between 4 types of dwarf hamsters.
Get this book! You will want to eat it!

a beautiful and artistic homage to pets!
This books not only celebrates the beauty found in pet cemetaries, but the beauty found in the human/animal bond. Michele illustrates through her magnificent photos how deep and eternal the love can be for the animals in people's lives. The stories told are endearing, encouraging the reader to reflect on his own fond memories of the pets in his life. "Goodbye, My Friend" is a gracious tip-of-the-hat to pets and petowners everywhere!

FINALLY ALLOWED TO WEEP FOR A PET
Animal lovers face a double problem when a pet dies. The sense of loss can equal that which we feel for a human; but many people look askance at the person who mourns a pet. After all, it was "just" an animal.

Michele Lanci-Altomare's touchingly beautiful book, "Good-Bye My Friend," gives us, finally, permission to weep. The book is a loving compendium of poems and essays written by a variety of people on the deaths of their pets, combined with tender photographs of pet cemeteries and individual graves in the U.S., England and Canada. If you have a friend who has recently lost
a pet--or if you've lost one yourself--a gift of this book is a gift of comfort.

Touching and sentimental journey
Be sure to have plenty of kleenex on you when you read this touching and sentimental book about people's beloved pets.

poignant and simple
like jonathon livingston seagull, this is a moving tale that can be easily adapted and interpreted in many different ways

Following your heart, not your eyes
What a beautiful inspirational tale, about the importance of following your heart, rather than your eyes. So many parallel similarities to Jonathon Livingston Seagull. Loved them both. Arlene Millman, author of BOOMERANG - A MIRACLE TRILOGY.

Live your own dream
A poetic and positive story about a
dolphin. Dedicated to the dreamer in us all. It is about
following your own dreams and going your own way. A perfect present to give away. Especially to people on the verge of going their own way. Often they are very insecure about what to do. This will help them to take the last hurdle and jump!

Pretty good!
I received this book a few days ago and have basically read it from cover to cover.
I feel the information in this book is for the most part accurate. One thing that I think should be added into all companion animal informative books (whether it be a book such as this, made for the average pet owner, or a book as a tutorial for beginning breeders) is more information on reasons to NOT breed your pet. The overpopulation of companion animals in this country is outstanding. By educating the uneducated regarding breeding this problem can be brought under control. I was happy to see that it was mentioned to not breed your pet, however I think a more in depth discussion of it should have been added.
I thought the feeding guidelines were a little off as well, but I have seen much worse.

4 stars to Karen Gendron and Michele Earle-Bridges for a great book!

Rabbit Bible
At my petshop I found this book It's my Bible and because I'm a devout follower do I get along so well with my rabbit. My only problem is the "Breeds" section. More text than pictures. This is a must for novice rabbit owners.

An essential book for both potential & current rabbit owners
I've been raising two Californian rabbits for about eight months now as part of a 4-H project, and before I read "The Rabbit Handbook," I thought that I knew a lot about rabbits. When I started reading this handbook, however, I immediately realized that there was still so much more to learn about my animals! I really wish that I would've purchased this handbook when I first received my rabbits because it might have saved me a lot of time by teaching me some vital information: how to handle your rabbit, what to feed your rabbit, and how to check for common rabbit diseases. And besides this important information that every rabbit owner should already be familiar with, "The Rabbit Handbook" also covers topics such as the history of rabbits, the different breeds of rabbits (including which breed might be best for you), how to identify a good rabbit, how much room the rabbit needs in its hutch, how to clean and maintain the hutch, how to perform an inspection of the rabbit's eyes, ears, nose, teeth, nails, feet, and tail, how to breed your rabbit, how to understand your rabbit's body language, and much, much more. For the best experience in raising rabbits, every rabbit owner needs to know this information. If you own a rabbit and don't know some of the things that I mentioned, you absolutely need to locate a copy of "The Rabbit Handbook." If you're thinking of buying a rabbit, I recommend that you read "The Rabbit Handbook" from cover to cover before selecting your rabbit. Remember, knowledge is power -- this handbook will leave you feeling like a pro. "The Rabbit Handbook" is simply an invaluable resource for anyone remotely associated with rabbits and it is definitely a worthwhile investment for the benefit of you and your pet.

A MUST!
I BOUGHT THIS BOOK BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HAD A DOG BEFORE AND RECENTLY PURCHASED A ROTTIE. THIS BOOK IS SO HELPFUL. THERE ARE ALOT OF THINGS I DID NOT KNOW BUT THIS BOOK EXPLAINS ALOT ABOUT THE BREED. THE ONE THING I LIKED ABOUT THE BOOK IS IT ALL ABOUT ONE BREED AND NOT ABOUT THE DOG FAMILY.

Rottweilers and a Respect for the Breed!
I never realized prior to now the sheer importance of proper care and training of a Rottweiler until reading this book. This book should be required reading for anyone considering raising a Rottweiler or who currently owns one. I actually felt myself doubting whether I can provide the necessary attention and fortitude that this breed requires. I have always loved this breed and the book precisely specifies why it should be loved and why the task of raising one should not be taken lightly. Every consideration for the Rottweiler is mentioned in this book, from purchasing to care and nutrition, to behavior and training. I thoroughly recommend this book for anyone considering purchasing a Rottweiler or if you currently own one.

Great foundation!!
I was given a full-blooded bitch and did not really know alot about Rottweillers except for the preconceived notions of their viciousness. With smaller kids at home I was a little worried. But after reading this book and discovcering what a wonderful breed these dogs are, I am no longer worried and our puppy is doing awesome and I am learning alot every day. The book has great information about the Rottweiller breed and what to expect as well as great advice and techniques for training. Nicely written.

Feel the cadence of the "Gathers"
Set in the early 1960's, Friday Nights at Honeybee's is the tale of two women, Forestine Bent of Brooklyn and Viola Bembry of Jasperville, South Carolina. Two women with vastly different backgrounds that meet at Honeybee McColor's Harlem Brownstone and develop a wonderful friendship. Viola is the daughter of a preacher man. Raised in the strictest of households, her mother prides herself on being the wife that does whatever her husband wants. Nelvern wants her household to be an example of a perfect marriage with a perfect child to boot. Viola desires other avenues but is forced into submission to her family. A loveless marriage, a moment of passion and an expulsion from the church find Viola on her way to Honeybee's. Forestine on the other hand, is a girl that lives in the shadow of her pretty sister and a mother who makes no bones that Forestine is nothing and never will be. If not for her father Willie, Forestine's hopes would be dashed. Her father insists that she is a good jazz and blues singer and she is encouraged to follow this pursuit. This eventually leads her to Honeybee's as well.

Once the convergence on Honeybee's takes place, both women seem to develop into their own personas. Forestine has a promising career, which is only enhanced with her performances at Honeybee's "gathers" in the Big House. Honeybee and her other housemates are a hoot. Who wouldn't mind living at the Big House. Viola comes into her own, a mature young lady who at last follows her heart and does what she wants to do for a change. The reader can really feel the atmosphere of the Big House with Ms. Smith's writing. I think she's done a wonderful job of bringing in the essence of blues and jazz into the story. Friday Nights at Honeybee's has a cadence of its own that starts at the front cover and moves throughout the entire book. I'm a jazz and blues fan and some of the names mentioned of other performers in the book were real which leads me to believe that Ms. Smith did her homework in preparing for the book. This always makes a book more grounded for me and I enjoy it a lot better. The melding of reality and fiction make for an interesting read. I really took pleasure in learning about Forestine and Viola, how two vastly different lifestyles yield similar results based on good values put forth by two families in two different ways. Read Friday Night's at Honeybee's, you will be thoroughly caught up and entertained.

Nice Read
This was our selection of the month. It wasn't what we thought it would be. We found it started off slow but we stayed with it and enjoyed the book. We loved the feel of the "gathers", the jazz and blues feel through the story. We felt deeply the wounds of both women and could see how they would both end up at Honeybee's. It started slow, but we did enjoy it in the end and we had a good discussion about the women, their family life, old Harlem, The music scene back then. It was a nice stroll back in time and heartfelt...A nice read.

Loved IT!!
I am enjoying this book! It is good to have someone affirm you when those in your family cannot, and in the instances of Forestine and Viola, that was the case. Both of these girls were not understood by either of their families, and Viola's case, they marry her off to an eligible bachelor at their church to get rid of her. Even though she questions and asks whether or not she could love this man, no one really answers these things to her satisfaction. To be honest, the union should have never happen. In Forestine's case, she had no support, no backing by her mother, who should have given her what she needed and didn't. Only by her father and Nick, who taught her how to sing and project the gift that she had. Perhaps if she received the nuturing and love by BOTH parents, none of that stuff with her and her brother in law would have started. A great book by a debut author I hope to hear from again.

Nothing sticks out
Yes, this is a pleasant, short, brief book about the Pekingese. However, it's not any different than any other book about the Pekingese breed. The information is very generic, and if you search around personal sites online or just visit breeder's pages, you'll find the same info. At points, I felt like the book became a generic dog care book, giving advice for any breed of dog. It isn't peke-specific enough. For example, they should've had a chart that listed how many calories of food or vitamins pekes need at different life stages and weather. Pekes may be small dogs, but they are heavier and require different nutrition than other breeds. One would expect a book titled "Pekingese" to be tailored to a Peke's needs but the info that is provided for feeding can also be found in a book for any other dog. Do you think a peke needs the same nutrition as a Dalmation? No. It's a good book for those that have never had a dog before, or don't have the slightest clue about the Pekingese. However, if you are already a peke-companion and were looking for helpful peke-specific info, this book doesn't provide info that you don't already know.

Pekingese: (Complete Pet Owner's Manual)
This is an excellent book for a first time Pekingese owner!! For someone who knows the breed(and I truly mean knows- I've had my boy for a year and a half and I still learned things), it might not be as helpful. It's easy to read and at times shows a little humor. It covers everything a responsible pet owner should know. It even included first aid techniques in case of emergencys, some basic training steps, grooming, etc. Definately an A+ book written by someone who knows what they're talking about.

Pekingese: Everything about Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Breed
I am buying a pekingese and this book is so helpful! I feel more knowledgeable and will be able to purchase with more confidence. I will also be able to get the grooming aids, etc. prior to the puppy coming home.
