This book was wonderful. I am an avid romance reader and this is one of the best books I have read all year. The civil war makes for a wonderful and exciting background. The story moves very quickly and it's filled with passion! I read it in 2 days! A wonderful, sensuous, emotional story. With a Great ending!

Fantasic book on Daoism
This book is a great primer on Daoism. At the same time, the illustrations are often downright funny. The comic format makes it perfect for the compulsively busy friend you want to give some Daoist inspiration. I've read though this book countless times and always seem to find some new insight every time I pick it up. It is worth every penny.

Excellent starting place
This was my first book on Daoism, and I was very impressed. It conveys the principles of Daoism amusingly and interestingly. Not only is it full of 100% daoist wisdom, its a lot of fun to read! You can read this 10 times and still find it interesting. Buy it!

Cover the space with one step
Great thanks to the illustrator - we call him Tsai Zhizhong.I remember the countless hours I spent on the original edition of ZHUANG ZI full of ancient charactors and strange grammar, fed up every time I took it up.Who would read it even in China? College students of Chinese department hardly do.But with Tsai's pictures, everything's lovely and easy.I cover it in two hours, and then laugh in a foolish way like a child. And great respect to the translater, for his learning of chinese traditional classics, for everything he's done for it.They opened a door to endless wisdom and freedom for much much more people in this world. When you're enjoying this book like a small child with its picture book, you are already in the mood of Tao!

Alaska Best Places: Restaurants, Lodgings, and Adventure (1997)

Fantastic guidebook with great reviews and stories
A fantastic guidebook describing some of the off beat places in Alaska. If you want the true Alaskan experience, get this book. It contains over 200 restaurant and lodging reviews and stories of the 'best' places in Alaska. One of the three must travel books (Milepost, Discovering Denali, and Best Places Alaska) if you are going to the Last Frontier.

Definitely worth carrying along on the trip
We used this book every day - and usually more than once. It is filled with great suggestions and recommendations. We found a few entries "outdated," but that can be expected. The suggestions for which shops to visit in small and large cities I found to be particularly helpful. Best book I have ever bought for travel.

A highly recommended "take along" tote.
Best Places Alaska is an outstanding travel guide that features only the 'best' restaurants, lodgings, and destinations in Alaska, including guides and outfitters in its lists of recommendations for particular Alaskan regions. An excellent, involving survey of Alaska's best places, Best Places Alaska is a recommended take-along tote.

I loved this book!
The Bud Wilson Dream Book was one of those novels you can't put down! The characters were lively and all-too human; their flaws were familiar as well as being engaging. I particularly loved the way that each character grew and matured through the story, coming to crises, revelations, changes, and then subsequent challenges in a realistic way. I already bought all the copies at my local bookstore and I hope this book stays in print for ages! It was the mainstay of my shopping list for Christmas!

A great read.
The Bud Wilson Dream Book is a must read for anyone who has, and almost everyone has, watched the network night time TV talk show host (whether Jack, Johnny, Dave or Jay) and wondered....

An engaging "could happen" tale compellingly woven from the threads of the modern American "stay up late" television viewing experience.

I stayed up late 'cause I couldn't put it down. A great read. A must read!

a good and very insightful study with vivid, fun characters.
There have been additional revews of this book in Maine, the Maine Times, etc. There is praise from all the reviewers for the good prose style and the sheer fun of the plot. Although the central figures are mature women, there is the ever outrageous Bud Wilson, the host of the most popular nighttime television show. An enjoyable encounter between the host and the central figure, a mature woman recently widowed who becomes independent and spunky. There are many suprises and personalities that will stay with the reader long after the book ends.

Change We Must. . .My Spiritual Journey
Published in Paperback by Medicine Bear Publishing (1996)
Authors: Nana Veary and Nan Veary
Amazon base price: $12.95
Collectible price: $15.00

Nana Veary is a REMARKABLE woman.
This book is an autobiographical story of her search for belief, faith and meaning.

First she was taught the traditional Hawaiian belief, then "christianity (Presbyterian if memory serves)", Science and Mind, Zen Buddhism, and various metaphysical traditions.

If you have a desire to learn about Hawaii, and various practises of Hawaii (working with nature, Ho'oponopono, etc) This is a good beginning, but incomplete.

In my opinion; the Hawaiians had effective prayer down to a science, and were far more spiritually grounded than the bible thumping "christians" that outlawed the spiritual practises of Hawaiians. Two Bears

Aloha nui loa (I love you very much)

Passion with Balance
When it comes down to the wire, managing change is really all about balance, something the Japanese treasure and express in the art of Zen, and passion. Passion without direction and focus is just a bunch of energy, like an Italian lover. Passion, with focus and balance, can be like a laser beam--very powerful and significant.

The first part of one's life is usually spent chasing success, and the second half chasing significance. Nana's Change We Must is working to see that we all get an early start on the second.

A spiritual journey
My name is Hina, and I am the great grand daughter of Hanah Very. Puna (as I call her) gave me my name, and through her book is giving me insight, strength, pride in Hawaiian culture, and a beautiful glimpse into a pure Hawaiians heart. For all of you who don't know, Hawaiians are a dying breed, and their culture is finally earning respect. This book will help you to understand Hawaiians, and understand yourself. Simply written, easy to comprehend, it deals with our relationship to nature, our powers of manifestation, and love as the supreme opener and healer. This book is delightful, insightful, and great for anyone seeking spiritual counsel. Nana will show you how to be quiet and listen to yourself, where all healing takes place.

Good Information
Good information for those who need to take pictures of their work. This is an excellent reference. I highly recommend it if you are an artist without much photography experience and want to do it yourself.

A Little and Thin Book , but in a large format.
Watch for those small books that fit comfortably in a pocket. They don't have fluff, get down to business, and are worn from significance. Photographing Your Artwork is a sort of right arm, studio mate for me, a painter-educator. I teach a Professional Issues seminar to young studio artists at an art school. At last this old friend is back-in-print. Believe me! There is no other reference in print that so clearly covers the basics. More importantly, does its job of teaching with style and clarity. Visual artists need this information and the skills it teaches.

A word from the author...
I'm very happy that Amherst Media is reissuing Photographing Your Artwork. Originally published in 1987, it's still a unique resource--the only how-to book of its kind, as far as I know, that's truly aimed at artists who want to photograph their own work successfully and inexpensively, as opposed to the photographers who would otherwise do it for them. That said, I think the book's information is equally valuable for photographers who want to shoot artwork, either for artist friends or as a moneymaking business. And to apply its techniques, photographers don't have to invest in expensive strobe equipment. The techniques it describes are simple but very effective. This new edition has been revised to reflect small changes in suitable films, which have actually improved in the intervening years. When the original edition went out of print, I got lots of calls from artists trying to locate a copy. If you're out there, here it is! And thanks for your interest. --Russell Hart

Great Resource
There are very, very few books on starting and operating a for-profit child care business (believe me, I have looked!). This one is a gem; very well written by a person who has been there. Her flexible time system is right-on, although I'm not sure I'd have the guts to implement it. Margins are thin in this business; this book should help you get all you can out of it.

Comprehensive, well written, in-depth guide. Excellent
This is an excellent source book for anyone considering opening a child care center. It is comprehensive, well written and logically organised. The author covers every area of developing a center, from organisation of the space to conflict resolution to highlighting the ten most common mistakes in running a center. I would thoroughly recommend this book for anyone considering starting a business in child care.

Excellent detailing of starting up & managing child care ctr
The authors covered all aspects of startup from location and economics in your area to business plan examples. Showed implementation of their "flex-time" programming which is wonderful. I checked this book out of the library and two days later (after I finished it) I went out and bought it. It will be used over and over I am sure.

Are you ready to change?
If you are ready this book will change your life. It is more than weight it is about how we live in the world. It is about beoming one with the universe. MOVE INTO IT!!!

TCM: A Natural Guide to Weight Loss That Lasts
This book is excellent!!! I have been on a journey looking for a book on general good eating principles. I am not sure why I picked this book because it was mainly targeting weight loss and I do not have a weight problem. However, when I saw it I felt it was the right book for me. This book is about learning to take care of you from the inside out. It is about healing. The weight loss is just the bonus. I highly recommend it for those of you that are looking for answers on why you just don't feel right.

Excellent book and revolutionary way to lose weight
I was a participant in one of the first weight loss classes
offered by Dr. Lu. I lost 23 pounds in 6 weeks. 5 years passed, and I am still maintaining the normal weight. The program is much
more than just a weight loss program - it opens up a totally different view on how to eat properly and stay healthy.
You also learn to listen to your body and understand it better.
Using meditation, special exercises, herbs and much less food
than you think is needed, you feel great and your energy is at
the level that is amazing!

Desert Storm? More like Desert Tornado!
This was the first Nan Ryan book I've read. I loved it. Not only are the characters real and believable, but all of the things they feel are too. The only complaint I have is that there were way too many sex scenes and not enough scenes of love in the form of caring.

My second favorite book ever
My FAVE book of all time is Nan Ryan's Sun God. I thought I would never read a book that could match it, until I read Dessert Storm. Sun God will always be my favorite, but Dessert Storm falls very very very close behind! I could NOT put this down. There are constant changes in plot and things that arise to excite the reader. Not a typical romance at all! If not for Sun God it would be the best romance I ever read, hell the best book I ever read is more like it! Read this one! You will love it as I did! I fell in love with the hero Pecos McClain, the first time I ever loved a fictional man!!! I love his arrogance, cockiness, confidence and yet that he is a gentleman at heart...just my type of guy. READ THIS ONE! But not before you read Sun God!!!!!!!!!!!1

Could not put it down! My 2nd fave (under Nan's SUN GOD)
The first romance I read was the best I EVER read, it was called Sun God, by Nan Ryan. Since the night I read Sun God at age 16 (9 years ago) I have read read nearly all of Nan Ryan's novels. DESERT STORM is fantastic I could NOT put it down. READ THIS BOOK! It brought me back to thatr fateful summer night taht I picked up Sun God and could not bring my self to part with it. I have recently re-read Sun God after lending it to a friend who loved it! I read Desert Storm for the first time immediatley after finishing Sun God. I recomend anyone to do the same. Both stories are filled with suspense and keep you guessing, both have fantastic characters, both take place in a lovely Texas setting with increadable heroes! You will love Pecos McClain, I sure do!
