Very Informative!
I had bought this book as a gift for my mother-in-law (Gramma) and I loved it. I almost had to buy her another gift. I found it to be very informative. You do not have to a Grandma to read this book. I gave it to her and she loved it too! Thank you. PS

Grandma Online is Fabulous!
Grandma Online is Fabulous! Not only is it informative, but also highly entertaining. Ms. Shaputis' insite to the internet made me feel comfortable in an otherwise overwhelming world. I just bought 5 more copies to give to my favorite "grandma" friends. But please keep in mind, this book isn't just for grandmas. Everyone I know could use a copy. This one is a must have!

Great guide for Grandparents!
This book was outstanding, not only informative but entertaining as well. It will give the less computer savvy an easy tour through the internet. I great guide for anyone, but of special interest to grandparents, not only focusing on thier interests but on those of their grandchildren. It's a surefire way to bring generations together. A must buy for your parents or grandparents, and would make a great gift!

Genealogist's Delight
Anyone working on their family history will delight in this book. It presents questions to be answered by Grandpa for every day of the year. When the questions are all answered, the family historian will have a wealth of information for research and hundreds of anecdotes for the family tree. At the next family reunion encourage everyone to buy and complete the appropriate book in the series for themselves and let the historian add it to the tree..

Revisiting Yourself
Grandpa Tell Us Your Memories is a small ring bound book (perfect for little hands to hold)set up in calendar fashion with one question for each day of the year. Bob and I combined this book with 'Grandma, Tell Me Your Memories' and every morning over coffee we would review and fill in responses for one question. Not only did we have the personal pleasure of revisiting our lives as children, as young adults, as parents etc, but we had the added benefit of getting to know one another better and strengthening our marriage. Being vulnerable to each other, sharing occasional tears and lots of laughter was an unanticipated gift. Best of all your children and grandchildren are left with the beginnings of a legacy. They will follow up with their own questions - and there you are: off and running. Let me add that each book is perfectly suited for single grandparents too.

More fun than twenty parties.
When I saw the Grandpa, Tell Me Your Memories, book as a birthday gift, I was thrilled. I'd been planning to write my autobiography, and this gave me a huge launch. I'd never thought of many of the terrific questions and topics to write about, so, thank you author, Kathleen Lashier. To put it mildly, I've had to do more research than I did in college, but it was a blast! I had remembered events, people and numbers incorrectly all of my 64 years. Oops! Now, thanks to Kathleen, I'm straightened out. The author's page layout says to write on one topic per day for a year. Sure, not me. It took about two months. I was so excited! Kathleen's book is a marvelous tool to preserve our heritage for those we care about the most. That heritage includes one's own spiritual roots, mine being Christian. My main suggestion is to put the questions in chronological order, birth to the present. We also typed it up and added photos, so our kids could have copies. THANKS AGAIN, KATHLEEN!

True gift of the heart
I just have to say that, this is an awsome book. A different kind of Romance novel that gives you all. It gives you obviously the romance, fantasy, and an unfogetable adventure. The characters of this novel, base their actions on what they value and what thier beliefs are. It's a book that reminds you what your heart is capable of. Laws that bound you to your actions are proven wrong and is faught by the power held within your heart. This is the first time, I read a sort of fantasy futuristic novel, and I think i'm hooked now! :)

Extraordinary and Amazing!!!
By far the best romance novel I've ever read. Kathleen Morgan illustrates why she is, without a doubt, the Queen of Futuristic Romance. A prequel to Heart's Lair this is the story of Morigan and Rissa. He is the leader of the exotic Cat People of Agrica and she is the daughter of his greatest enemy, the Lord Commander of Bellator. Their duel of hearts is fast paced, emotional, and deeply moving and it will keep you glued to your seat. Don't start this book unless you have time to finish it because I promise you will not be able to put it down. And make sure to keep a box of kleenex near by because this one will pull at your heart! Rissa is determined to hate the savage Cat Man who has forced her to mate with him. Morigan is resentful of having to take to his lair a woman who is part of the very race that is trying to destroy his people. But, inspite of them both, a passionate bond develops that neither can resist, but many try to destroy! If you've never read Futuristic Romance, this is the one to try. If you are all ready a fan of the genre, this is a must have for your collection!

Can these two star-crossed lovers find happiness...
For a Futuristic romance book... I would have to choose Kathleen Morgan !! This is my all-time favorite... What a page turner. I couldn't put this book down. I just love the way Ms. Morgan displays her characters; I feel like I have jumped back in that time era and I have become Rissa. We jump back in time to the first duel of hearts between Cat Man and Imperium beauty. Sigh.... Morigan put a silencing finger to his lips, rose, and walked over to Rissa. "Come," he said, offering his hand. "Naren sleeps. A breath of fresh air would be most welcome now." Rissa eyed his proffered hand warily before accepting it. In a quick, effortless motion, he pulled her to her feet. The blankets fell away, but for several breathless seconds they continued to stand there staring at each other. His eyes blazed hot and scalding, holding Rissa in a heated prison of bitter confusion and fearful desire. Something heavy, smothering, encompassed her, squeezing her chest until she could barely drag in a breath. Her heart pounded. A crazed urge to step closer to Morigan filled her. To join bodies, to feel the hard length of him press against her. To taste his mouth... With a gasp Rissa jerked back, her eyes gone wide, her throat dry. His hand, however, maintained its grip. "What's wrong, femina?" he demanded in a silky, seductive voice. "Having trouble dealing with your desire for me, are you?" Rissa flushed crimson and twisted frantically in his grasp. "I feel nothing for you but disgust! You're just so...so fascinatingly ugly----" Morigan wrenched her up against him. "Disgust? Ugly?" He gave a low, harsh laugh. "Sorry, femina, but those were hardly the emotions I saw in your eyes or felt emanating from you. You forget I can look into your mind----and I know a woman in heat when I see one!" "In-in heat? Why you-you----" Before Morigan could guess her intent, Rissa's free hand lifted. Only the quickest of Cat reflexes saved him from a stinging blow to the side of his face. He caught her hand only millimeters away, hlted it, then slowly brought it to rest along the length of his beard-stubbled cheek. His fingers entwined in hers, imprisoning them there. Morigan turned his head then, bringing his mouth in contact with the palm of Rissa's hand. At the touch of his soft, full lips, Rissa gasped. Fear rocketed through her. Fear of his intent, of the unknown---and fear of the intense surge of emotions his action had roused. His lids lowered, her head sagged back, and her woman's curves, almost in some instinctive response, pressed against his own tautly strung frame. He was seducing her, in as much with the strength of his unique psychic powers as he was with his body, and she didn't want it. Gods, she didn't dare let herself want it! "P-please," Rissa breathed. "D-don't. I don't want----" "You don't know what you really want, femina," Morigan groaned softly. "And I ... I know this is not at all what I should be wanting." His lips slid down the length of her hand, alternately caressing, then gently nipping her with his strong white teeth. "But I'm a male, and I have male's needs. Needs that haven't been satisfied in over a----" He stopped short, went rigid, then pushed her slowly back from him. The most intense battle raged in his eyes. A battle of wild desire and raw anguish. After a time Morigan relaxed, the bow-strung tension easing from his body. With a ragged breath, he released her and stepped back. "We were going outside, were we not, before we became sidtracked?" Morigan managed a tight little smile and motioned her ahead of him. "Would you still like to do so?" "Y-yes." Rissa turned and hurried down the short tunnel that led outside. Stepping from the cave, she glanced around her and, with a deep sigh of relief, threw back her head. Stars, brilliant pinpoints of light in the ebony canopy of the heavens, twinkled back at her. Two moons, one full and high overhead, one rising close to the horizon, little more than a slender cresent, filled the night sky. The third apparently had yet to rise. Alien and so vvery different from the nighttime display back on Bellator, the scene was still strangely comforting. At least there were still few things in life that remained constant, predictable. Not like her perpetually changing emotions when it came to the Cat Man, Morigan. Rissa wheeled around, acutely aware of his presence directly behind her. Less than a meter away, he stared at her, his expression shuttered. In the light of the single full moon, an eerie green glow seemed to emanate from his eyes. She shuddered. Morigan stepped closer. "What's wrong, femina?" She clasped her arms about her and fiercely shook her head. "Nothing. Nothing's wrong. I've just seen so much violence and bloodshed of late. And now ... " Her voice broke. Her head dipped. She inhaled an unsteady breath and forced herself to go on. "And now, Naren." Her gaze swung up to his. "If things don't go well you mean to kill him, don't you, before you leave here?" Morigan's mouth drew into a tight, forbidding line. "If absolutely necessary, yes." Utter disbelief filled Rissa. "You haven't a shred of compassion or mercy in you, have you? In your own way, you Cat Men are as brutally ruthless as you claim we Bellatorians are. How can you call yourself Naren's friend one minute, and then the next speak of murdering him?" The Cat Lord's hands fisted at his sides. His shoulders went rigid. "How? Because, my short-sighted little femina, if we were forced to leave him behind and he was captured, the Bellatorians would use their most painfully efficient ways of extracting infornmation on him. Eventually, no matter how valiantly Naren resisted, they'd discover the location of our lair. To preclude that eventuality, all of us, Cat Man and Woman alike, have taken a vow to kill ourselves if captured. It's the only way to protect our people. "So speak to me not of our brutality," Morigan snarled, his anger a heated, palpable aura about him. With the survival of his kind hanging in the balnce, the new leader devises a daring plan to kidnap Bellatorian brides to insure the propagation of at least some form of the species. What he doesn't expect is to find the taking of a human wife in anyhting but a duty. The firery Rissa touches is heart in spite of himself... This book is a very dreamy book and captures every woman's heart. It did mine.. So can they find happiness before their enemies find a way to destroy them? (BR)

Excellent book for both women and men
Dr. Kendall-Tackett's book provides an excellent articulation of the
various difficulties faced by mothers. The book succinctly explains
current academic knowledge and makes it relevant to the lived
experiences of mothers in today's families. Written in a truly caring
tone, the book does an outstanding job of placing the reader at ease
about challenges they may face as mothers and offers a wide array of
highly effective solutions. Written primarily for mothers, this book
also provides men with useful insights into the difficulties faced by
their mothers, wives, sisters and friends, and so can help them to both
sympathize and effect changes to help the mothers in their lives.

an important subject; would be helpful for ALL mothers
The role of the mother in modern day time is honored throughout this book and it is written in a positive tone with the utmost respect for women and mothers. The author acknowledges both stay at home mothers and employed mothers without entering the "Mommy Wars" or even getting into a discussion of what she thinks is best (because she recognizes that what is best for each person is different and unique to that individual). The role of mother is have is not always an easy one. The difficulties, pressures, and stressors of the modern mother are outlined including some historical information about the role of the mother and technological changes regarding housework over the last couple of hundred years. The author contends that each of us is in control of our lives and how we choose to react to these stressors is up to us. By becoming aware of the various things that can make our lives miserable, we can pick and choose which things we want to do or not do or how we react to things, so that life is manageable for us and we can lead happy lives. The author explains that if stress builds up burnout and depression can occur.

This book is not negative in tone. It provides good information to orient the mother as to why there is good reason for feeling overwhelmed with all that she has to do. I have not read any book on this subject that has this focus, this unique attitude of holding motherhood as an important role and providing ideas for how mother can remain sane and happy in her role. This is not like some books that basically have the tone that as a stay at home mother we should feel privileged and not have anything to complain about. The author also does not blame the mother for lifestyle choices she makes and then saying it is her fault. This book applies to all mothers, not just mothers of babies. The author is not judgmental about parenting choices and as an example, portrays breastfeeding in a positive light and mentions cosleeping as fine if that is what works best for your family.

Here is a listing of what is covered in the order of the chapters: stress, what it is; depression, recognizing it, how to get treatment, treatment options; burnout, what it is, recognizing it, how to avoid it. History of the housewife in America, how we arrived where we're at, are our jobs easier now that we have modern appliances? Working outside the home, why mothers might want to combine work and motherhood, making it manageable, making the decision to work. How to lightening housework to a manageable level, sharing duties with spouse and children, organizing the household so it runs smoothly. Sleep deprivation, what it is and how it affects our bodies and mental state. Adult survivors of childhood abuse: physical, verbal, sexual and how it affects the parent, including how it may affect breastfeeding and general mothering issues. The added stress of living with a "spirited" child (such as ADD/ADHD), the special stress of living with a child with medical problems. Dealing with miscarriage, stillbirth, or death of infant, the effects these have on the mother (even if society doesn't fully recognize this type of mourning or stress). The Epilogue gives hope for the future and tips for making things best for you as an individual.

Each chapter has an extensive listing of books and some websites on the various subjects covered in that chapter. The book appears well researched with a long reference research list. Overall it is very easy to read and interesting. It has helped me not feel as guilty for feeling overwhelmed at times. I think every mother would gain something from reading this. It is nice to see that someone realizes how hard the job of mothering is and understands that the role can cause stress, burnout and even depression in even the most capable and intelligent woman.

A must have for all women who have children in thier lives.
While reading this book many thoughts went through my mind. But the one thought that would not leave me is that I wish this book had been around when I was raising my children. Now that I have finished reading it both my daughter and my daughter-in-law will be receiving a copy from me. I am a grandmother who has been there and done that (or at least most of it) and found this book to be helpful in explaining why I may have done some of the things that I did or felt when my children were still at home. Ms.Kendall-Tackett has covered every aspect of motherhood in her book. Reading this book was easy and very informative. I love that she has also included many resources and web sites for the reader . As a woman, wife, mother and grandmother, I highly recommend this wonderful book.

An outstanding California wine country guide.
Now in an thoroughly updated third edition, Hill Guide Sonoma Valley : The Secret Wine Country provides an outstanding food and wine guide to California's wine country, pairing walking tours with features of restaurants and wines and even including recipes from featured chefs. The inclusion of rates and prices makes it easy to choose lodging and attractions.

A terrific guidebook
My wife and I and two other couples will travel to Sonoma Valley soon, and I've been designated trip planner. I got out this book, a copy of which I had purchased on a previous trip, and found using it a great pleasure. It's extraordinarily thorough, very nicely organized, and well-written. It is, in fact, the best guidebook I've read.

"Sonoma Valley..." an essential read for the Sonoma bound.
Written by two longtime residents of the area, "Sonoma Valley the Secret Wine Country," is not only an indispensable guide for those planning a trip to the Sonoma Valley, it is also a great read for the "armchair adventurer" simply wishing to learn more about Sonoma's unique history and culture. This is a travel guide that one wants to continue reading long after the trip is over. The book is organized in a somewhat non-traditional format, a format that I found far superior to the familiar one. Instead of there being "restaurants" and "lodgings" sections, the book is organized by area, so that if you find yourself in say, Glen Ellen,(the tiny hamlet of Jack London and the Valley's only winery "tram" tour) you can simply open up the book and find out what attractions, be they eateries, wineries or antique stores, are in the immediate vicinity. This format, along with the detailed "insider's" information the authors have compiled, allows you to get to know the places you are visiting in a much more intimate and realistic way than a traditinal travel guide. You will never have that dreaded feeling of seeing youself as a tourist with this book. After reading about the Sonoma Valley's freindly, but sometimes strained relations with it's more famous rival, the Napa Valley, you'll know not to say something like "oh, that Cabernet is excellent-almost as good as the one I tasted in Napa last weekend!" There is also a number of little extras in each section, such as recipies from the locals, ratings for the level of rommance in each place, and brief histories on each of the places you are visiting. Again, I found this to be a really great book, not only for travelling, but simply as an entertaining read about a very interesting place. Indeed, the book prompted me to remove myself from my laurels and write my first online review. This guide definitely earns five stars, the online reviewer's highest praise.

His Name Is Joel
I have finally found a book written by a mom who was a Christian before the birth of her son Joel. This mom tells of her journey of
of raising her son(from birth) to be included in her church family and of the rejection of that same community by their indifference. Finding a church when you have a child with special needs is still a challenge in the year 2001! I have met Kathy and know that her journey with her son and finding a welcoming church are not over but,she is hopeful. This book will affirm anyone else who has been here. Her other book A Place Called Acceptance is also another five star read.

A moving and intimate look at life with a disabled son.
Dyer Bolduc brings the reader into her family and her heart as she tells the story of her son's autism and retardation. Her scriptural references and prayers add to what is already a deeply spiritual journey. I didn't turn a page without learning something new or being touched. Any mother can relate to her struggles.

A must have for leaders of any group!
If you want to know how you can really help someone who has a family member with disabilities, you must read this book. It is funny and sad. Mrs. Bolduc transforms her feelings into easily read words. You will want to meet this special mom and child for yourself!

I hope you will never need this book ...
My husband was diagnosed with cancer when our daughter was just 9 months old. We are a little over 2 years into our struggle with his illness. I found McCue and Bonn's book immensly helpful at this difficult time. It covers everything from diagnosis, to coming home from the hospital or, God forbid, the parent's death. It also covers long term illnesses. The book is filled with practical advice. If you are struggling with a very sick parent (or other loved one) in your family right now, you need all the help you can get. After reading this book, I feel like I have the tools to help my daughter through this process whatever the outcome might be. It was incredibly helpful.

A MUST READ!
This book is a tremendous resource for families who are facing serious illness and approaching death. The book gave me helpful advice on when to seek counseling help for my children, signals of depression and failure to cope in children, how to explain about hereditary diseases, and how to help children prepare to visit the hospital. In my own situation, my husband has a progressive muscular disease that has affected his lung/breathing processes. This disease can result in immediate death and I felt that my children needed to be prepared for that. I actually handled my chidlren's first trip to the hospital badly and they both reacted negatively--I wish I would have had this resource then! From time to time I refer back to this helpful book whenever a new situation arises and after reading it, I feel that I have a better understanding of how children see an illness, how they react to it, and how to explain it to them. I'd really like to see a sequel to it that goes into areas such as what to do when the kids are in denial and don't want to know; dealing with relatives who disagree with the methods chosen on helping the child deal with the illness, and how to handle emergencies that happen at home with the ill parent. In any case, this book is a necessity for families!

A unique book to help you help others!
How to Help Children Through a Parent's Serious Illness is a wondeful resource for professional and home use! There are so many books designed to help children and parents with a child's illness but practically nothing available to help the children of adult patients deal with an adult illness, accident, or death. Kathleen and Ron are skillful and concise in sharing dozens of pointers and case examples that will help any adult in this situation. I work in a hospital and refer to the book often. We've shared it with nurses and doctors-all have found it "right on target". I know it would be a wonderful resource for use at home too. Two thumbs up to Kathleen and Ron for filling a big gap!

Would make a great halloween read.
"I Dare You" is a level 3 book which is recommended for grades 1 and 2. However, my soon-to-be-3rd-grader still enjoyed it enough to read the entire book in one sitting. Simple enough for young readers to read alone and interesting enough to hold their attention. The book is divided into three stand alone scarey stories with each page being illustrated. This book would be a perfect halloween read-complete with cemeteries, ghosts, and skeletons. Also ideal for readers that enjoy scarey books but are not old enough for the goosebumps series.

Thrills, chills, and some laughs, too!
In the elementary classes I've substituted in, this book is a big hit! The bright cover immediately attracts children and the three spooky (but not too scary) stories enthrall them. The last story, "BONES IN THE BED", is especially funny. This is a perfect book for first, second, and third graders to read on their own. A winner!

Review of I Dare You
My five year old son loved this book. It is similar to Eek! Stories to Make You Shriek by Jane O'Connor. Ms. Keeler manages to make the stories scary enough but not too frightening for young children. The vocabulary is perfect for children learning to read.

Lots of wonderful activities for your preschooler
This book contains lots of wonderful activities to keep your preschooler or preschool class busy learning. The activities are grouped into sections based on what skill or topic they most relate to (ie fine motor skills, large motor skills, developing an interest in science, language skills, critical thinking). Each section is loaded with hands on active learning activities geared for preschoolers. Most of the supplies needed are items you will have around the house and are about ready to pitch. My personal favorite is the "Is the cup full" experiment. I use these with my kids at home. There are some activities that are geared for larger groups but most can be done individually. Whether you are an early childhood educator or a mom looking for quick activities to keep your young child busy, I would recommend this book.

Excellent Teacher Resource
Easy to use lesson plans with out all the searching. The kids loved it!

For those of us who draw a blank ...........
This book is absolutely wonderful. I bought it for homeschooling my youngest child and I really liked it. It has all the ideas u will ever need as well as what u need to do the things it suggests. There are many games to play and stories to go with the ideas presented. If you follow this book u will not need another.

Comprehensive text on professional communication
I liked this text book. It is clearly written and comprehensive--so difficult to find in a communication textbook. The communication exercises are thought provoking and I like the text boxes. The case studies seem real and capture some of the nursing communication dilemmas I have encountered as a student. This text is a keeper!

COMMUNICATION
I LIKE THIS BOOK BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO READ IT AND UNDERSTAND IT I USUALLY CAN'T UNDERSTAND THINGS THAT I READ BECAUSE OF MY LEARNING DISABILITY.
