Where can I get more of the "Women of The West" Series?
I really enjoyed this but I can't seem to find the rest of the Women of the West "Series". Please let me know how to get them. Mariann98@aol.com

More great work by Gear
If you've read and loved Gear's other works (like People of the Lakes, etc.) or even if you haven't. you're sure to fall in love with gear's writing all over again. Gear has a gift for blending historical fact into believable fiction. This novel made me re-think the way I imagined the Civil War and held me entranced until it was finished/

Five stars! Ten stars!! Twenty!!! I would if I could!!
I walked around the house like a zombie, my eyes glued to the page. Not the inconvenience of cooking nor the movie playing on T.V. succeeded of dragging my eyes from between the pages. The characters are so REAL. Garry is such a sympathetic character, not at all macho like many romance novels, but deffinatly a man. Jeremy, Robin's son is an adorable scared little boy and his affection for his toy horse, Traveller, that he made with his own hands just makes you want to cry. Robin is one of the strongest women I have ever read about. Every character portraid in the novel seemed very real and human to me. Even Major Corley. I found myself feeling sorry for him, even though he was the next thing to evil. This is a keeper for sure, I'd recommend it to ANYONE!!

This Widowed Land
I avoided this book because it involved missionaries, well I was mistaken. This is a excellent addition to Ms Gears work. I couldn't put it down, literally. I took the day and just read. Fabulous.

I could not put it down
So much research went into this book, it felt like I was right there with the characters.Kathleen deserves all the awards possible for such hard work I loved the book, I was sorry to see it end.I can't wait to see what she does next, she is a genius!

It's like being there with the Indians and Jesuit Priests.
Excellent research by the author. It is much better than sitting in History class. I find it interesting the beliefs of the Indians and Jesuits. Also enjoyed the romance going on between a Priest and an Indian and there beliefs involving such relationship.

best of the series!
I'm not a fan of the series but this one is great. I read hurricane{boring} and attempted titanic [to boring to finish] but this was great! Max is a future lion tamer and jodi used to walk the highwire. {her mom was injured badly when she fell off one and she can't find the will to go back on} when the train crashes they escape alive but it might have been better they did'nt with what they are going to face.

COOLEST!!!!
These books are way awesome. They are so real and lifelike you feel like you are there. And they way they put fictional characters in famous or every day disaters is very intriguing. Duey and Bale had better keep writing these because no one wants to lose a good thing.

da' da' da' bbbbbbooooommmmbbbbb
Now I would like the world to know that everyone who likes to read should be reading these books. These books are da' best in da' world. I've read every single one of them and they got my 2 thumbs and five stars. Karen and Kathleen better be able to hear this, they also get my two thumbs up and my five stars. Keep writin'. The next book should be #12 Tornado, #13 Tsunami, and #14 Avalanche.

all about women with ADD
This book is an amazing resource of information about the specific issues of being a woman and having ADD/ADHD. This is the type of book that you would want your husbands, parents, and close friends to read because they will learn so much about you.

This is a great book that opens up traits and characteristics that I always thought were part of my personality.

I have read many of the ADD/ADHD books for adults out on the market and this one is a must have for counselors, teachers, female students, moms- and any female having to struggle with ADD, also a great book for anyone who had contact with women with ADD.

True insight into those suffering from AD/HD
"Understanding Women with AD/HD" is a compilation of articles by various medical professionals. Kathleen Nadeau and Patricia Quinn have taken these articles (many of which they contributed to) and put them into a logical order and format so that it is easy for the non-professional to gain a comprehensive understanding of AD/HD as it relates to women.

Of all the books on AD/HD I have read this one provides most comprehensive coverage while still being highly approachable. Subjects covered include why the DSM-IV diagnosis may be inadequate, a self-assessment, hormonal influences, depression, deprogramming, women's life stages, and other issues relating to women with AD/HD.

Easy to follow, the editors make a complex subject understandable. "Understanding Women with AD/HD" is a highly recommended, authoritative read for anyone desiring an understanding of AD/HD and of particular interest for those whose interest is in the unique problems of women.

Covering all stages of life
Collaboratively edited by Kathleen Nadeau and Patricia Quinn, Understanding Women With AD/HD is an impressive anthology of essays by experts addressing issues specific to women with AD/HD. Covering all stages of life from youth, college years, married life, motherhood, workplace matters, and the struggle to properly balance one's life, Understanding Women With AD/HD is an encompassing, ground breaking work that resonates with understanding for the plight of facing life's challenges with a mind that tends to over focus, especially at the worst possible times. Understanding Women With AD/HD is a highly recommended contribution to personal, professional, and academic AD/HD reference collections.

According to His Will!: Prayers from God's Word
Published in Paperback by Kathleen Ballantine (1999)
Author: Kathleen Ballantine
Amazon base price: $11.95

According To His Will
Praise God for working through Kathy to provide this insightful and practical book for those who are often perplexed about how to pray and what to say to God. As I perused Kathy's book, I found effective and appropriate prayers based on verses taken directly from the Bible for many situations and circumstances. There is also a prayer chart, where one can keep track of prayers and answers to them. All in all, it's a very useful book for those who wish to grow in their faith.

The Key to Recovery
In my Program we are told to seek God and Prayer. I was way out of touch with Him. I had become complacent and lost. This book is helping me communicate with God and to go back to the days of feeling that unconditional love . I thought He wouldn't hear my heart. It was all broken and ugly. Now I am healing and starting a new life because It is His Will!

A truly God inspired book
This is a book for anyone who wonders if their prayers are really reaching God. What better way to pray than to use the scriptures. When I pray these scripture prayers I have complete confidence that I am getting God's attention, and that I AM praying according to His will. I also love the lessons that go before each chapter. I find that I can relate to or empathize with many of the examples that are given in these lessons. This book is a must to have with you in your prayer closet.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
I can't even tell you how much this has helped my life. I now have the tools to understand alcoholism. It is a disease that has destroyed so many families and ruined so many lives. It is important for us to understand the disease in order to try and help those who suffer. We need awareness and this book indeed opens our eyes. If you or someone in your family deals with addiction, you MUST read this book. It is the only book that deals with everthing from family issues, intervention to recovery. A MUST GET!

Now I Get It!!!
This book was very helpful for me to understand alcoholism as a family disease. I finally found a book that spoke to me in my own language. It seemed to know my life. I now know that this is a disease and not something I could control on my own. This wonderful book saved my family. Everyone in the world should read this. It relates to everyone!!!

An excellent and understandable explanation of alcoholism.
This is an inspiring book for anyone who is or knows an alcoholic. My mother-in-law is in the final stages of alcoholism. I felt like crying when I read this book because I felt like the author had met her or seen her. Just when we think there is no hope and that we are alone with this disease, we realize that others are out there, and that we can learn from their experiences. The descriptions are detailed and the personal accounts are vivid. Anyone who is an alcoholic or who knows an alcoholic should read this book.

Great
I think this was a good book. I love historical fiction books and the American Diarie series is my fav. Josie is a cool character and her brother seems sweet. If you like fiction books about WW2 or the American Diaries you'll love this book.

A great book
Josie Poe lives during World War Two in a town called Palouse, Washington. She lives with her Mama, her Daddy, and her brother Tom. Everyone in town has a loved one fighting over in the Pacific or in Europe. Except the Poe family. So Josie is ashamed of her brother.Tom was acting really weird lately, so Josie wants to think of a good project for the war effort. Then, a robbery happens that involves Tom. Josie has to find out the truth about her older brother. But will the truth change her relationship with him forever? Find out and read this book!

Small town World War II story with a little mystery.
This was an enjoyable story set in a small farming town in Washington during World War II. There was a bit of a mystery, but not much action. This is more of a family/friendship story with a historical setting. It was a very good book, although less based in action then some of the other American Diaries.

Teaching Children with Autism: Strategies to Enhance Communication and Socialization
Published in Paperback by Singular Publishing (08 June, 1995)
Author: Kathleen Ann Quill
Amazon base price: $57.95
Average review score:

Easy to implement methods for enhancing play skills
There are so many books on autism and not all are applicable to our family's situation. I tend to read a library copy before purchasing. When it came time to return this book, I decided that this was one for our personal library. It's easy to read and I will refer to it over and over. Methods are easy to understand and implement. As a parent of an autistic child, it's one of the few books I've felt that will be invaluable.

Essential for all educators of children with PDD
This book provides clear, easy to use strategies for teaching and communicating with children on the autism spectrum. The author's contend that behavioral problems exhibited by children with autism are most often the result of frustration that comes from their inability to communicate effectively. Behavioral problems can be successfuly addressed by focusing on what the child is trying to communicate. Rationale for the strategies suggested is provided. I recommend this book for educators and parents.

Fabulous book for anyone working with children with autism
This book is a wonderful resource for learning how to approach children with autism. It is very easy to read and deals with a variety of different methods that can be used to deal with just about any level on the autistic spectrum. As a speech therapist working with variety of children with autism, I continually return to this resource to help plan my assessments and intervention. It is an excellent resource that addresses communication, play, pragmatics, parent desires, and self-control at a variety of levels. The chapters that deal with specific areas, such as enhancing social communicative interactions, often provide you with the necessary paperwork for assessment and/or intervention in the appendix. This is a must buy book! I would highly recommend this book to anyone working with children with autism.

Yellow Roses: Four Historical Novellas Featuring Rangers and the Women Who Love Them
Published in Paperback by Barbour & Co (2001)
Authors: Carol Cox, Darlene Mindrup, Kathleen Y'Barbo, and DiAnn Mills
Amazon base price: $6.97
Average review score:

Great inspirational love stories
Yellow Roses is an anthology of Christian romances set in 19th century Texas. Each novella is a stand-alone story of plucky heroines and Texas Ranger heroes. All four novellas are good, short reads, but two are outstanding: Serena's Strength and Saving Grace.

DiAnn Mills skillfully weaves a tender romance between Serena Talbot and Chet Wilkinson while portraying their spiritual struggles in an unobtrusive, believable way in SERENA'S STRENGTH. Her historical and cultural accuracy blends an engaging story line and an authentic narrative of life as Texas Ranger in the developing Republic of Texas.

Kathleen Y'Barbo narrates the story of a tenacious Texas Ranger widow, Grace Delaney who struggles to keep her home and family together and Jedadiah Harte, ex-Texas Ranger turned preacher in SAVING GRACE. Their spiritual journey with God and to each other is a well crafted, uplifting read.

While all four are well-written and wholesome romantic stories, I'm sure you'll want to read other titles by both DiAnn Mills and Kathleen Y'Barbo.

Great Read!
Each short story is a satisfying read by itself, to get all of them in one book is a real treat. If you love fun heroines, good heros and love based on Faith, you will HAVE to read this book!

Rangers & Romance - a Winning Combination
These tales of a bygone day, when Texas Rangers struggled to tame the young state, are exciting, romantic, and uplifting. These wholesome stories touched my heart.
