The best doll making book I've seen
I purchased Jacks book when it first came out in 1995. It reads easy and makes doll making simple. Jack is a master doll maker and marketer and it shows in this book. I highly recommend it as a must in your library.

The Art of Making and Marketing Artdolls
We have read all three of Jack Johnston's sculpting books and find them all to be wonderful. He is one of the most sharing people in the doll world. If you have a chance you must purchase his books and videos. His new video on artdolls gives all dollmakers a leg up in making polymer dolls. Eventhough he uses only ProSculpt clay he explains how to use all of the polymer clays. He is true educator and "fine artist".

Absolutely wonderful
This book is great! If you know nothing about making a doll out of polymer clay, this is the book for you. I learned how to make a doll face, hands, feet, shoes, and a soft body. Jack Johnston is one of the world's greatest doll artists, and I'm so glad he has decided to share his trade secrets instead of keeping them to himself.

Wonderful and Inspirational!
This book is very wonderful and inspirational. It tells in full detail about one family's loss on that fateful day in Oklahoma City. It's great for people dealing with a loss or even for people who aren't going through a loss.

I couldn't put it down
I started this book thinking it would take me a while to read it, but I read it over two days because I just could not stop reading. Kathleen Treanor's story is very personal; it's not just what you know from the news. And much of the book focuses on her healing process.

She offers hope to anyone who has suffered a tragedy, not just those affected in Oklahoma or New York.

I never realized how much the letters from school children meant to victims of a tragedy.

Kathleen talks about how one day everyone else seems to go back to a normal life, and you can't understand how they possibly could after what has happened. Yet she eventually heals, and her journey is truly inspirational.

This is a wonderful book.

This book is a "must read!"
On April 19, 1995, the lives of the Treanor family were forever changed by the tragic loss of their daughter and parents. The author describes through heart-breaking detail their struggle to survive and eventually triumph over this horrible chapter in their lives. As an Oklahoman, I started the book believing it would speak to all of us who experienced this terrorist act in our own neighborhood. By the time I finished, I realized this book speaks not just to Oklahoma, but to the world.

In Crisis there is both Disaster and Opportunity
A woman or man in the middle passage, a friend or lover of someone, a parent or companion, a mentor, therapist, counselor, or even boss of such a traveler, will benefit from the giving, gifting, or receiving of this book ~ BUT only if they read it. Please, READ this book.
The author has beautifuly and skillfully sythesized Carl Jung's work related to the middle life passage/crisis. She speaks eloquently and articulates the personal/case exemplar histories with the theory and reality of the awakening that is potential at midlife. I have been so effected by her work that I have purchased 15 or 20 copies (I am losing track) and regularly give the book to persons in my life or whom I cross paths with. That action puts my money where my mouth is.
This book speaks volumes and has truth for the taking. I am in the midst of my own awakening and this book is a marvelous travel guide. The insights and understanding I have gained in reading and discussing this work help me in my practice, personal life and in the work I do in the lives of others.

READ IT!
This is one of the best books I've ever read! If you are suffering from a seemingly vauge, unidentifiable dissatisfaction with your life, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of the help offered in this book. It has enriched my life and helped me take a more positive, proactive view of the changes I've gone through as well as the ones that are yet to come. I plan on keeping this book close at hand for review, rereading and guidance.

Fantastic!!!!!
Far and away the best book I have ever read on the subject of midlife, personal growth, and the process of individuation. A must read!

The Beast in the Bathtub
I bought this book in 1987 for my then 6 year old. It quickly became his favorite. The friendly green monster helped him to conquer his own fear of bed time monsters, and it became our joke that 'the beast' was under his bed guarding him! He is now a U.S. Marine and the book has become a favorite of his 2 and 4 year old little brothers who love it not only because 'Big brother Dave' loves it (still), but because they love to join in the pillow fight at bedtime and imagine stealing apples from the kitchen when the sheriff and deputy are watching t.v. They love to call out the final sentence with me as I read.... "OF COURSE there's no beast in the bathtub.... he's under my bed!!!"

One of my children's favorite books!
"Lewis skidded down the stairs and into the living room. 'I can't take a bath,' he announced. 'There's a Beast in the bathtub.'" So begins one of the most heavily rotated books in my children's collection. The delightful text is complemented by charming illustrations. The best children's books appeal to those who read aloud and those who listen. Beast in the Bathtub more than satisfies both audiences. If you can get your hands on a copy, don't miss this wonderful book!

A story your child will love to read over and over.
The story is about a boy, Lewis, who doesn't want to take a bath because there is a Beast in the bathtub. Lewis's mom insists that he bathe and the adventure begins. Lewis and the Beast are loveable characters and their interaction is charming. The story flows beautifully from start to finish making readers feel they are actually watching Lewis and the Beast. The illustrations are also wonderful. A must read for all children.

This is an excellent book. even if you don't like horses, or reading books about, you should read this book any. I want to read Sierra, too. You will find out who Sierra in the end of Bonita. It's a great book!

This book was awesome!!! I love how she described everything in detail and took everything from the horses point of view. I read this book and Sierra in the same day!!!! I am telling all horse lovers to read this book!!! It is about Bontia, a stable horses, who is set free by her owner, Maria, because Maria is afraid that the soldiors, from the war, will capture her. Bonita is captured then by solidors and they use her for the war, when she finally gets free, she meets up with Paco, a donkey, and they become friends. Then Paco and Bonita find Rapheal, a wild stallion and they begin roaming with him. I won't tell you the whole book, but something happens to Rapheal. The definitive guide to dynamical systems!
When I purchased this book three years ago, I had only a rudimentary understanding of dynamical systems. Thankfully, all that was needed to get me started was some intermediate calculus and some basic college-level linear algebra. Since I had been doing both from the time I was a sophmore in high school, I had no trouble getting comfortable with it. The authors present dynamical systems in an easy-to-read style with tests that appear at the end of each chapter after you've had time to catch on.

If you're seriously thinking about getting started in dynamical systems, get this book!

great introduction to dynamical systems
I was enrolled in a course at GMU in which the draft version of this text was used. The math was not as difficult as some of the graduate texts, therefore it serves as a good intoduction for someone with as little as 2 years of undergraduate math. The challenges at the end of each chapter are more difficult than the regular problems, but they are meant to be. Many of the systems can be modeled on a spreadsheet. If you have any interest in Chaos, this book will only strengthen it.

For my Taste One of the Best Undegraduate Texts
This book presents brilliantly the foundations to Dynamical Systems and Chaos. You need to have some Linear Algebra, Calculus and Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations knowledge. Full of exercises, computer experiments and Challenges. I think that the text looses some substance due to the lack of presenting more or all the solutions to the Exercises. They should be solved detailed in a Solutions Manual. Don't try to e-mail the authors for more solutions, they will not get them to you. This point is the only pitty in a text that is a great companion through chaotic dynamics. Also Very Brilliant for me at this Level are: Strogatz-Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos, Kaplan-Understanding Nonlinear Dynamics, Gulick-Encounters with Chaos, Hilborn-Chaos and Nonlinear Dynamics, Devaney-An Introduction to Chaotic Dynamical Systems and A First Course to Chaotic Dynamics, Holmgren-A First Course in Discrete Dynamical Systems. More sofisticated maths but not too far away are: Schuster-Deterministic Chaos(graduate) and Ott-Chaos in Dynamical Systems (graduate).

Wonderfully Helpful for Both Birth and Adoptive Parents
I am currently pregnant with twin boys that I will be giving up for adoption. I was looking for books to help me and the adoptive parents truly understand open adoption. I LOVE this book! I read through it in only a few days time and now the a-mom is reading it. I recommend this for both sets of parents, it is a GREAT resource!

Children of Open Adoption by Silber & Dorner
I was reminded of how this book has helped me over the last years when I was browsing the Adoption shelves here. I think it was published about the time we became an adoptive family, which was in 1989. I had read about Open Adoption, where both adoptive parents and birth parents at one extreme know each other's first names, all the way to knowing each other as people and visiting back and forth. We were pretty sure we wanted nothing to do with this scary and threatening idea. But as I read more about adoption, I realized that for the good of my daughter, and believing she had the same right most all of us have, to know who she came from I needed to know more and act on it. So we tried hard to continue to have a relationship with her birthmom after the birth. I wasn't sure the woman even wanted this with us. I got the book because I wanted PROOF it would be OK to let our daughter and her birthmom know each other, spend time together and have a relationship. And that her birthmom would not try to reclaim her (a big fear of adoptive families) and that my daughter wouldn't be confused about who her parents were (it turns out kids are rarely confused--they get it). I was, frankly, threatened. So the book was very instrumental in giving me the strength to go down this path, and 11 1/2 years later I am very thankful for it. My daughter and her birthmom are in contact, and see each other from time to time, which would be more often if we didn't live across the country from each other. The book actually lets you hear from kids in open adoption, in their own words, and you see there is not the trauma, confusion, and craziness you feared would follow. These kids are the pioneers, even though they are just a group of normal kids, and they have shown us the way to a better way of making families through adoption.

The children come first! What a great book!
Finally a book that addresses open adoption and how it has affected the children of open adoption. As an open adoption birth mother, I constantly face society's disapproval and their opinion that I am a disposable, unimportant member of the adoption triad! Society and open adoption nay-sayers love to point out that there are no studies on open adoption...and no proof that it might be better for the children than a semi-open or closed adoption. This book is at least a small dent in that claim! Hopefully more books will be written in which the open adoption adoptees can speak for themselves and tell society about their experiences.

A Must Read for all Pet Pig Owners
Kathleen really did it right with this book! It is a great source of everything you'll need to know about pet pigs and their mental and physical health. If you have a pet pig, you MUST have this book.

A Must-Have for Pig Owners
As the two-legged mom of 3 potbelly pigs, the oldest of which is now 10, I find this book a wonderful wealth of information that every care-giver of pet pigs should have on hand. Laid out in a very easy to use format, this book will take you from the history of where potbellied pigs came from; help you decide if a pet pig is right for your family (as they are not for just anyone); and then moves on into what to look for when choosing a pet pig; how be be prepared for it's homecoming and the proper living environment required for these special little pigs; the medical need-to-know information that is specific to pet pigs; along with various other chapters which will put you and your companion pig on the road to a happy, healthy and long relationship. Information on pet pigs and their care is sparse at best. This valuable text helps fill that void in the pet pig market and I promise you'll have many pages dog-earred or marked with post-its by the time you're done reading it. No pet pig home should be without The Complete Guide for the Care and Training of Pet Potbellied Pigs.

The Truth About Pigs....or Pigs Can Be Pets too!!
If you want to know the truth about the potbellied pigs stop right now and purchase your very own copy of the book "The Complete Guide for the Care and Training of Pot Potbellied Pigs" by Kathleen Myers. The title to the book unquestionably describes its content. You may think pigs are not for me; or, I know all there is to know. You cannot be any further from the truth. Before reading this book I knew very little about the potbellied pig. After reading this short but comprehensive book I feel confident in selecting and raising a potbelly as a pet. The author takes the novice as well as the expert step by step through the practice of owning the potbellied pig. Did you know you can actually house-break a potbellied pig?

For those needing additional assistance understanding their pet the book answers those questions, as well. Kathleen Myers even lists all plants which are toxic to potbellied pigs. She includes a comprehensive resource list with phone numbers and web sites all potbellied pig owners need at their fingertips. Topics on the list include animal care, best feed for your pet, training videos, and numerous other online resources.

Whether you are a novice or enjoy potbellied pigs in your daily life, "The Complete Guide for the Care and Training of Potbellied Pigs" should be by your side. There is no other guide as complete as this one. It will be a constant reference resource for the Potbellied Pig pet owner.

Conscious Coaching : The Soccer Mom's Bible

A MUST for any parent of sports-minded kids!
This is not just for soccer moms. If you coach kids, have kids in sports, or are an adult involved in any way with organized youth sports, this is a MUST read. The author brings a deeper level of understanding and revelation about providing a healthy and positive experience for sports-minded kids.

Concious Coaching: Your Soccer Kids Will Love You for It.
Sports education today plays an increasingly powerful role in shaping our children's behavior. Indeed, it is capable of imparting to them a host of character-shaping attributes, including - but not limited to - confidence, discipline, perseverance, assertiveness, decisiveness, insightfulness, humility, fortitude and temperance... all of which empowers them to embrace life's challenges long after they have kicked their last soccer ball or swung a final home run. Conscious Coaching will help you to recognize that, within the confines of sports education (and by extension, any other form of education), the dynamics manifested among coach, parent, and child can either lead to wholly empowering experiences for everyone involved - children especially - or, in stark contrast, result in emotional upheaval for all parties involved, particularly the young and most impressionable.

Whether you are a parent, coach or teacher, this book will "coach" you to discern what works in your relationship with others (coach, child and parent) so that you can continue to reinforce those attributes that are positive. Most importantly though, it will guide you to recognize and shape your own behavior within those unfolding dynamics to effect desired outcomes and achieve empowering results.

Having said as little, it should be noted also that Conscious Coaching is a quick read; you will love it for its clarity, as much as for its wisdom.

MUCH MORE THAN A BOOK ON SOCCER!
Finally, a book which not only brings sanity back to competitive sports, but to basic human interaction. Nasty and all-too-often violent behavior on and off the playing field is indicative of an ill society, and this book becomes an excellent model for change where it's impact will be the greatest--with the children. The author has the credentials and natural skill to bring important information to light using the game of soccer and a youth soccer team as her vehicle. She is not only a sports enthusiast, but also a mental health professional, and incorporates the best of both worlds together in a book that is long overdue. It is not only a model for coaching, but a paradigm for problem-solving through structure and clarity which the kids seem to hunger for. She guides them gently to the root of a problem, either within the individual or the group, through awareness, and teaches them skills for problem-solving, all the while never letting them forget to have fun with the game. They naturally incorporate these skills (and joy) into their daily lives as evidenced by their parents' comments. Likewise, it is not only a joy to read, but becomes a practical guide for, not only those working with children, but for anyone interested in becoming a little more enlightened through awareness.
