Ginnie and Geneva characters
I adored these two characters as a child, and wished that Catherine Wooley had written more books focused on them! I whole-heartedly believe they should be reprinted! My daughters' school library still has a couple of these Wooley books on its shelves, the very ones I read in the early 1970's!

The Best!!
I have read the Ginnie and Geneva books over and over ever since I was Ginnie's age. Catherine Woolley is such a wonderful writer who really understands young girls. I recently re-read Ginnie and Geneva (again, even though I'm all grown up) and I felt as if I actually were Ginnie. The descriptions of what Ginnie sees and feels are so well-done. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to enjoy these great books too.

Bring Ginnie back
Bring Ginnie back to print! These books painted a colorful picture of Ginnie's adventures. Catherine Wooley does a great job of describing Ginnie's surroundings in great detail. She makes you feel like you are there. You can smell the food, feel the cold winter air, etc. It's really ashame they are out of print.

My favorite kids book/audiotape !!!!
This is truly a wonderful book and audiotape (don't just get the book). My daughter and I love listening and reading along. The music is very enjoyable and almost puts you into the story. I highly recommend them for gifts, too!

Excellent, fun and educational
This book and cassette are excellent. My younger sister listened/read this cassette/book 8 years ago, and now that my sister is older, my own young kids have enjoyed this wonderful story and the sweet accompanying narration and music.

The story is beautifully narrated and the background tunes are catchy and fun. I would have liked the music better if it were a real orchestra instead of a sampler/synthesizer, but it is really enjoyable nonetheless. There is a good range of instruments and musical styles to listen to, and the story is interesting and engaging for children. I highly recommend this book for any young child. (And if the cassette is not included, then I would recommend buying that as well).

Every family should have this book and tape set!
What a wonderful, engaging book and tape to open the world of music to our children! It is a lifesaver in the car that even the driver will enjoy! The story is sweet, the illustrations beautiful and the music is rich! Thank-you Catherine Meyrick and Michael Twinn!! What a gift!!

"My Life With the Wave" is extraordinarily imaginative
I love books that begin with a fanciful, "what-if" premise. In this case, what if a sliver of the sea -- a wave -- followed a family home from the beach like a stray animal? The illustrations, humorous in a borderline-grotesque way, capture the muscular spirit of this fantasy. I need not convince my children to read this story again and again, and they need not waste time coaxing me. I love it because it permits every reader to imagine the delightfully surreal.

What happens when a boy bring home a wave from the ocean?
Kids are always bringing things home from the beach, but you have probably never seen a kid who brings home a stray wave. "My Life with the Wave" is based on the story by Octavio Paz, the Nobel Prize winning author from Mexico. At first the boy finds it is great fun to have a wave in the house; the sun comes to play with it and there are fish adorning the wave's hair. But waves are affected by the moon and the sun, and the boy discovers that the wave can get very moody at times. How do you get a wave to go back to the sea? This charming and imaginative tale has been translated and adapted for children by Catherine Cowan and illustrated by Mark Buehner, who has skillfully hidden a cat, a dog, a mouse, a whale and a sea horse in almost every picture (just to drive us even more crazy, I imagine). The best thing about this book is that no matter how much you kids are inspired, they will never, ever be able to bring home anything like a wave. At least, I certainly hope not.

A Truly Wonderful Children's Book
My Life With The Wave is, by far, my favorite children's book and just fascinates my 6-year-old daughter. The story, the writing, the illustrations are all wonderful. We've taken this book out of our local library many times. Now, we are buying our own copy, one for my daughter's teacher and one for a friend.

wonderful book
this is the third book i have read on rottweilers. i have enjoyed every page of it. it is very easy to read and understand. the pictures are fabulous. the topics cover almost everything you would want to know about the rottweiler. the authors have many years of experience with rottweilers and give their advice, hints, and instructions on things such as showing and building a whelping box. i love this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in this breed from curiousity to expert.

Dedication To The Breed
We have 2 dogs... a Boxer and a Rottweiler. After I bought "The Boxer - Family Favorite" by the same publisher (Wiley & Sons), I decided I must have this one regarding my other favorite breed... the Rottweiler. A good looking hard cover book with 250+ pages of excellent info. Pictures adorn most pages. Topics include: History, breeding, basic care, health & symptoms, activities for you & your dog, training tips, size & incredible strength, enjoyment, and so much more. It is clearly evident that authors Thompson and Michels are dedicated to the breed. Anyone owning or considering the Rottweiler as a pet should have this book. I have half a dozen books on the breed and I find myself reaching for this one the most. Any dog-lover will admire all the pictures of these big beautiful animals and understandable print. A wonderful read.

Excellent Reading
One of the best books on the breed that I have ever read, written by two experts!

Feather on the Wind

Fascinating time travel romance - Recommended
Archaeologist Raina Cotterell longs to understand the Mayans that she studies. The descendants inhabiting the area surrounding the archaeology site only whet her appetite and encourage her dreams of finding a discovery that can answer her questions. Even the daily power struggles with fellow archaeologist Burke O'Neill cannot dampen her enthusiasm for gaining insight into the mysteries of the past.

Burke bears an uncanny resemblance to the Mayans they study, but his irritating self-importance negates any attraction Raina might else wise have felt. Then on the night of the autumnal equinox, Raina uncovers a capstone that leads to a passage ending in another time. Accompanied by Burke and two other members of their team, Raina unwittingly intrudes on a ceremony to select a bride for the Mayan prince, Al-Mon.

Al-Mon exists for the sole purpose of leading his people and bearing heirs for the future. Despite his dedication to his duty, he longs for a woman who would love him. When the golden hair woman appears, he believes her to be a gift of the gods. As the irritating Burke puts himself in danger with his overbearing and irritating ways, Raina eventually agrees to marry Al-Mon to save her colleague's life. Her growing feelings for Al-Mon are tempered, however, with the knowledge that when the spring equinox arrives, she must depart.

Author Catherine Snodgrass pens a fascinating romance in FEATHER ON THE WIND. The intricately woven plot and richly textured background lend the tale fresh originality. Characterizations, however, occasionally fall flat, especially with the sharp and sarcastic dialogue that so frequently surrounds Burke. Indeed, Burke's sudden character change at the end of the novel is rather unbelievable after he has so vividly displayed his character flaws. Nevertheless, the blossoming romance between Al-Mon and Raina more than compensates the novel's weaknesses, demonstrating a creative flair that holds great promise for this talented author. FEATHER ON THE WIND comes recommended.

This will be a keeper for time travel fans
What a great read by a new author. I truly enjoyed Raina and Al-Mon's story. These characters are so well defined that you care what happens to them from the moment they meet. The secondary characters are also very, very good - especially her collegues and his parents. I love time travel and the plot in this one is different than most. I enjoyed that it kept pace in one particular period after the beginning. It certainly is fast paced and keeps you turning page after page until the surprise ending.

Ms Snodgrass is a gifted storyteller and I hope she continues with time travel romances. If you are a fan of the genre, you won't be sorry if you try this one. I think it is a keeper.

A MUST READ
I loved this book, it was a real page turner, I could not put it down. The story was fast moving with clever plot twists and an ending that was completely unexpected. The characters Raina and Al-Mon grabbed me by the heart and refused to let go, they also made me laugh out loud. This story was original and one I will not soon forget. I am looking forward to this authors next book.

Hiding Behind the Collar

Hiding Behind the Collar
Hiding Behind the Collar by Catherine Brittion Fairbanks is an interesting read about the author's struggle to rectify clergy misconduct in her church. It tells of her battle with the church hierarchy and the stinging disappointment she experienced when neither reconcilliation nor clergy discipline occurred.
Hiding Behind the Collar is a road map of one person's journey through a bitter and trying time in life and points the way toward organizations that can help in the healing process.

Fairbanks Chronicles a Different Kind of Clergy Abuse
"Hiding Behind the Collar" is a meticulously written chronicle of one woman's attempt to hold her church accountable for the emotional exploitation she suffered as a result of the trust relationship she had with her pastor.

Often, spiritual and emotional abuse is described only in the context of sexual exploitation. Author Catherine Fairbanks helps readers understand how an exploitative clergy can use the power of position to emotionally manipulate, confuse, and attempt to destroy parishioners without overt sexual abuse.

One of the unique things about "Hiding Behind the Collar" is that the perpetrator is a troubled female clergy who gains perverse enjoyment from emotionally exploiting female parishioners.

The story touches the deepest part of one's beliefs about faith, truth, and justice. It is a memoir of an experience no one wants to go through -- yet a realistic view of what can happen to individuals in communities of faith when they try to hold leaders accountable. It is a "must read" for all who care about fostering healthy communities of faith.

An excellent read
In this well written and touching novel, it is obvious the courage of the author to bare all, in a tell all. Fairbanks recants her ordeal in dealing with the Episcopal Church, its conduct and ethics. I found myself rapidly sinking deep beneath the printed words with my heart racing, as I found that I could actually relate to her story... how ironic.

"There are no simple routes to find your way to the center of a maze, and when you do find your way to this resting place, you may find it difficult to find the way out. "

This is exactly what happens for Fairbanks in her candid recanting of events. "Hiding behind the collar," unveils a fragile state of mind searching for a lifeline in rare detail, and how US (meaning you or I) can fall under the influential power of one person! It also examines organized religion, its political strategies towards cover-up, betrayal and corruption. We cannot simply dismiss these stories of clerical misconduct, which span all religious judicatories. Fairbanks explains that first; we must accept that the problem of clerical misconduct exists, and then we must stop being silent on the issue and stop sweeping them under the rug. After reading this enlightening novel, in my opinion this book would have been a worthy Oprah's Pick!

Delightful!
Ms. Spencer has done it again! She's created a fast-paced story with wonderful characters. I love how the mighty Sebastian meets his match with Lily. This is definitely another keeper!

A winner!
Catherine Spencer gives her readers another winner with her August release, A Mistress on His Terms. Ms. Spencer is the Queen of Romance, in my books. She just gets better and better. Don't miss this one--five stars, for sure!

Sincerely,
A loyal reader in BVI

Mistress on His Terms is The Best
This novel is the absolute best of Catherine Spencer's many fine romance novels. The characters are fully delineated and so true. The plot is developed skillfully. And what descriptions of scenery, storms, the mansion and grounds and the delicious meals and best of all the exquisite love making.

The main plot of Lily and Sebastian's romance thwarted by her misunderstood history is like a mystery revealed.

This book is the best ever of Catherine Spencer's many fine romances. I am really excited about her next novel due out in Decmeber.

Best book on MRI physics that I have read
I purchased a couple of MRI books and none made much sense to me until I read this book. The concepts of MRI physics is complex and hard to understand no matter what book you buy, but this book made it much easier to understand. It is clearly written in a logical format. I recommend the book highly.

Really is MRI in Practice verses Theory
I have been a MRI tech. for the past 12 years and have seen a lot of changes. This book is excellent for the "advanced" MRI tech and for the new MRI technologist looking for easy-to-understand explainations on how/why things work the way they do in the MRI field. I highly recommend this book to techs and referring physicians alike- a definite must-have for any technologist that wants to understand MRI, instead of just being a button-pusher.

Very easy to understand. Book geared for techs. If you want to
pass the MR registry this book is a must have. GREAT BOOK !!!!!

witty and charming summer read
STAYING COOL is a light, charming summer read; the charaters are well-developed, the plot moves along nicely, and the author provides witty insights into life after 40. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

refreshingly witty and intelligent story
One woman's search for reingaging with life, five years after her husband's death. Has an engrossing mystery, wonderful characters and a bit of a love story to with a bon fide HEA. I loved it and am now going to start on her other book, Making Waves.

A delightful, engrossing read
What a good book! I bought it in an airport bookshop, thinking it looked like good summer reading fare, and it was, but richer than that, too. It's very well written, with wit, a likable main character, an absorbing plot and a satisfying conclusion. It also explores issues of loss and family history that readers can relate to. A very pleasant surprise.
