Powerful Information that could SAVE LIVES !!!
Catherine Diodati, M.S. has presented a well documented account of the dangers of vaccination with an unique ethical perspective. Yes parents do have rights. They can now arm themselves with this seminal information to protect their children and the inalienable right to decline any or all immunizations. I urge all interested in our childrens' health to obtain this definitive effort.

Review of Catherine Diodati's book on Immunization
Catherine Diodati's work is the best that I have read to date regarding the issue of immunization. It is written in a style that is easy to read, with some acidic wit thrown in at just the appropriate place to keep the topic semi-lighthearted. The book is well researched, well referenced, and well documented with just enough politics of health care to help the reader reach the only conclusion that can be reached. BRAVO!

Vaccine Science...an oxymoron!!!
Catherine Diodati's book on Vaccines and their ethics is a must read for all parents harnessed with the difficult task of navigating through the maze of "Vaccine Controversy". This book provides much needed insight into the essential pillars of medical and legal ethics. Her meticulous work greatly helps in the final analysis of the dilemma facing all potential recipients of Vaccines. If a medical procedure like vaccines can't even pass basic medico/legal ethical standards, should we be so quick to have our children or ourselves repeatedly exposed or injected with the stuff? Thank you Catherine for your most timely book.

Doesn't compromise the integrity of the Course
This book is an aid for students of A COURSE IN MIRACLES and is authored by a person who was fortunate enough to have access to the "Foundation for A Course In Miracles" when it was still headquartered in Roscoe, New York ("FACIM" is a teaching organization for A COURSE IN MIRACLES, as well as the Course's copyright holder). In fact, the author notes that the inspiration for this book came from two classes she attended at the Foundation, as well as from two tape series by Kenneth Wapnick PhD, President of "Foundation for A Course In Miracles." The two tape series are: CLIMBING THE LADDER HOME and SEPARATION AND FORGIVENESS: THE FOUR SPLITS AND THEIR UNDOING. The classes that influenced this book were: 1) a two week long class on the Course's view of death, and, 2) a two week long class about international relations and the Arab Israeli conflict, from the Course's perspective.

But this book also includes the author's reflections on the works of Jung, Freud, the Dalai Lama, and Gloria Wapnick (faculty member of FACIM, as well as wife of Kenneth Wapnick). Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, and Mahatma Gandhi are also mentioned. So, this book is very well-rounded and has a lot to say. I must comment that it is perhaps the first non-Wapnick book based on A COURSE IN MIRACLES that does not compromise the non-duality of Course theory. A COURSE IN MIRACLES teaches that this world is an illusion not made by God, but made by the ego as an attack *on* God. This is a teaching that is so terrifying for us that most who read A COURSE IN MIRACLES and who write books based on A COURSE IN MIRACLES seem not to take it into account. Often, people make the mistake of believing the Course is saying that only the "bad" things in the world are illusions and are "attacks on God." No, the Course says the entire physical world - the very existance of a physical world - is an attack on God. Thankfully, Catherine Ricchetti understands this aspect of Course theory, and she integrates it into this book. This book is therefore a great surprise for the serious Course student, as many of us have become accustomed to seeing Course theory misinterpreted and taken out of context.

On a personal note: I really enjoyed this book, and I like that it gave me a feeling of having been a part of "Foundation for A Course In Miracles" while it was still housed in Roscoe, New York (it is now located in Temecula, CA). In Roscoe the Foundation had a retreat center housed in a former hotel building, that was situated on 90 beautiful acres overlooking Tennanah Lake. It seemed idealic, and I had dreamed that one day I could attend classes there (they had the capability to allow students to stay in residence for up to a year). Unfortunately, I will never know the Roscoe facilities or be a part of the community they had there. But thanks to this book, I feel as though I can vicariously live through the author's good fortune in having known the Catskills location.

great book
I found "Life as a Mirror" to be a peaceful approach to letting in the Holy Spirit and developing a personal relationship with God. The authors explanations and personal examples of defense mechanisms made them very easy to understand and relate to my own life. It was a new and refreshing aproach to religion. I recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a little religious and or self awareness.

FANTASTIC BOOK
THIS IS A WONDERFUL BOOK!!! IT WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK. IT WILL HELP YOU TO BE A MORE UNDERSTANDING, FORGIVING, ACCEPTING AND PEACEFUL PERSON. THE AUTHOR TAKES VERY DEEP CONCEPTS AND SIMPLIFIES THEM SO THAT EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND. I ADMIRE HER FOR MAKING SUCH AN EFFORT TO ACHIEVE THE PEACE WE ALL CRAVE AND FOR SHARING HER THOUGHTS AND STORIES SO THAT WE MAY ALL USE HER AS A ROLE MODEL

Liberation at Last!
I was not really a fat kid, but I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager and after I married, the weight started to come on and on. I felt bad and the extra weight put a wedge between me and my wife. I just couldn't stop eating. I snacked all day at work and guzzled soda like it was water. Now, after reading The Low Carb Rule & Recipe Book I am just psyched at the changes my body has gone through. I've lost 40 pounds in 6 months with another 70 to go. People already don't recognize me. I feel better, my wife is happy and I am NEVER HUNGRY!

The Low Carb Rule & Recipe Book by Chris Aceto
You know what they say "you can't judge a book by it's cover" ... but it was the cover that first caught my attention...then the title. I have read so many diet books and none have motivated me like this book. The writting style was easy for me to follow and I especially loved how they supported their concepts with the medical journal notes. The low carb diet may seem extreme but I felt I needed to take extreme measures as everything had failed. I couldn't put the book down and read it in one night. I jumped into the diet program the next morning and I have never looked back. YES...successfully losing 15lbs in just 6 weeks...and more exciting is that I didn't starve, to my surprsing I truly enjoyed the great tasting meals. 5 stars to Chris and Catherine for helping find the way to a permanent full proof fat loss formula. You can be sure I have spread the word to all my friends...I counldn't help it as they all wanted to know my secret.

Cheers!

A cute book with realistic situations!
"Mates, Dates, and Cosmic Kisses" By Cathy Hopkins relates to the ups and downs of love. We have all been there! The suspence, the hours waiting by the phone so as not to miss that oh-so-important phone call! This book takes you through it all with Izzie, a horoscope crazed girl with a new love in her life, Mark, who seems to be just too busy to give her a call, leaving her life incomplete, and her mind blaming it on the stars. Not to mention her poor friends Lucy and Nesta who have been left begging their mate Izzie for some attention!
"Mates" truly gives us an inside look at how love can make us clueless about everything and everyone but our newest intrest! Anyone who is in the mood for a cute love story or an amusing tale of the social teen life will love this book! Five stars!

A Very Good Read
This is one of the author's best of the Skolian saga books. I especially enjoyed the dialogue in this book - Asaro conveys fear, uncertainty, horror, anger, love with such a subtle touch that sometimes you feel as if you a part of the dialogue, and not just reading it. The diverse story lines from the books are coming together, with the suggestion at the end of this book that perhaps there can be peace (and maybe even reconciliation) between Skolia and Eube. How Asaro accomplishes that, given the "transcendence" issue, will be interesting to see. Only one complaint: The book was too short! Jai, Tarquine and Xir are delicious characters who we are just beginning to know when the book ends. I'm looking forward to the next installment (Skyfall) due in September.

Indeed
Loved this book! First Catherine Asaro book I bought in hardcover, and it was worth every penny. I started the series with "Quantum Rose," because I was looking for a crossover sci-fi romance. I loved it so much, I went all the way back to "Primary Inversion" and read the books in the order they were published. I certainly hope there are more installments coming. The pacing of "The Moon's Shadow" suggests that the saga is far from over. The relationship between Jai and Tarquine is beyond my ability to put into words. Ms. Asaro does so very nicely and believably, with a sensitivity that many mainstream romance novelists lack. The characters are not your stereotypical romantic heroes. Instead, they are smart, conniving, sensitive, and flawed. They are people who suffer yet endure and hope and love. Her ability to build worlds that we never want to leave is amazing. The cultural and political manipulations in "The Moon's Shadow" were fun, sometimes humorous, and intellectually satisfying. The Highton speech and how Jai handles it in particular made me smile. I look forward to the next installment.

strong alien races SF
On the planet Delos, The Eubians exchange prisoner Prince Eldrin of the Skolian Empire for Jai Rockworth the heir to the Eubian Concord. Although nobody knows it, Jai, who will be the next Emperor, is related to all the high powered rulers in the Skolian Empire. The Skolians and the Eubians after centuries of war are holding to an informal and uneasy truce, one that could explode into war with the least provocation.

The Eubian economy is based on the slave trade and is condemned by the Skolians who know their enemies feed on the pain of their psychic, slaves known as Providers. Jai's most fervent wish is to forge a permanent peace between the two empires but forces within his own government try their best to kill him before he can make any reforms. When he marries his Finance Minister Tarquine, he gets a wife who will use all her dirty tricks in her mighty arsenal to keep her husband safe.

Readers get a close look at how the Eubian Concord really works and it will sicken them as much as it does the hero of THE MOON'S SHADOW. The protagonist is young but he gathers some powerful allies who help him rule and try to see that he is protected from assassination from those who disagree with his goals. Catherine Asaro has written one of the best works of her star-studded career, one that will have readers searching the shelves for her backlist.

A diamond in the rough!
Hats off to you Catie...my high school classmate ! What a fantastic book! Mick would be proud and so am I!

Sassy!
A daring debut. I want to keep hearing what this woman has to tell me. Enjoyed all the poems, but my favorites were "The Angel and the River Water," "To My Lover on Returning to His Wife and Then Finding Another Lover," and "Blow Your House Down." Rock on, Catie Rosemurgy!

My Favorite Poet
Catie Rosemurgy is now one of my favorite poets. She says the things I wouldn't dare say in a way I wouldn't have dreamed. Her subjects range from Mick Jagger and Steve Earle to Fairy Tales and one-night-stands. One subject comes up again and again throughout the book: boys, a subject that really allows her get to the heart of things. Every poem in My Favorite Apocolypse (and this is a rarity) is sad, funny, beautiful, true, and so very, very good. She is imaginative without being pretentious, honest without being self-indulgent, personal without being private. Catie Rosemurgy writes great, mouth-watering lines that aren't flowery, though we should all send her flowers after this remarkable debut. Roses, of course.

The Most Dangerous Man in America: Scenes from the Life of Benjamin Franklin

For most of his life Ben Franklin was a loyal British
subject. He also spent more time in England than any of the "founding fathers". This is a biography but also the history of how the British lost America thru their own stupidity. Franklin had a logical & forward thinking mind. He knew that America would not be a colony forever. That America could be ruled for much longer by a small island accross the the ocean was not reasonable. But that would happen long after he was dead. His coming of age politically was The Albany Plan of Union in 1754 which dicusses such proposals as uniting the various states & a constitution. This was all in the context of remaining in the British Empire. This book is his story of disaffection & final break with the mother country. Truly America's first world wide celbrity.

The Most Dangerous Man In America, Scenes from B. Franklin..
Most illuminating, well written ,historical accuracy not found in our educatonal institutions. The views of Franklin's life are incisive. The work demonstrates that he, as select other men, had the vision, the education , the conviction and the ability to follow his thoughts through to fruition. Mr. Franklin's thought about the need for a 'constitution' began its development in the 1740s, and ended in 1789 at the Phildadelphia Convention. Miss Bowen alludes to this man's quite complicated personal and private life. Franklin's liasons arte tastefully mentioned as his style of life is clearly presented. His wish for privacy is highlighed although he was outgoing and social. He remained faithful and loyal to his wife in spirit, with affection and support throughout his long married life. The emphasis of this text is on Ben Franklin's many contributions to the development of this Country, and his wisdom in the nascent field of science. He was a fierce independent thinker who cared out "these united states".

A book not to be ignored and to be put before out senior adolecents as a 'must' read.

Best Biographer Ever
This is one of the best written books on an historical subject I have ever read.

A Mythic Life Is A Wild Ride
Readers of this book will have sharply diverging reactions to it, and I myself am of two minds. At her worst, Jean Houston can come across like a precocious and hyperactive college kid: flip, full of herself, flaunting exuberance, self-promoting, greedy for catharsis, disorderly ideas sprouting everywhere like psychedelic mushrooms. On the other hand, at her best, she's brilliant, scholarly, profoundly creative, wise, kind, and funny. On the balance, happily, I found the latter set of characteristics predominant here, although the less attractive side of her nature will be readily apparent to anyone unsympathetic to her style and her philosophy. This is an autobiography of sorts, although one in a style that only Jean Houston could conceive: utterly non-linear. What she actually gives us is series of anecdotes from all stages of her life, interspersed chaotically with a fireworks display of philosophical musing, human potential pep talks, New Age proselytizing, scientific speculation, and lectures on her original brand of mystical anthropology. Interestingly, she's the daughter of neither a scholar nor a mystic, but of an itinerant Hollywood gag writer, whom she loved dearly and who ran the family like an overbearing-but-lovable gypsy king. Numerous accounts of his lautish stunts pepper his daughter's book and bring comic relief. He was a direct descendent of Sam Houston, the flamboyant Texan general and politician, laying down a genetic strain that seems not at all improbable once you begin getting a sense of what Jean Houston is about. Of her retiring Sicilian-American mother, we learn very little. Dr. Houston's central animating idea, like that of her teacher and colleague Joseph Campbell, is that certain myths are universal among all peoples and all times, including our own, and they are the main drivers of psychological and spiritual essence of human existence. Exploring ourselves in light of these myths is key to fulfilling life - hence the book's title. Jean Houston takes this idea much further than Campbell did, and makes it the centerpiece of the teaching, lecturing, and mystical psychotherapy which has become both her life's calling and her business. This is compelling material and she presents it with eloquence and passion, despite the interference which her manic style at times brings to the narrative. I recommend "A Mythic Life", although it's not for everyone, and readers should be prepared for what they're getting.

Follow the Leader into the 21st Century
Through sharing fascinating details of her entire life and family, as well as people she has known and worked with, such as Margaret Mead, Jean Houston demonstrates vividly how we can all be more fully awake to our lives and the myths we all live by, whether we consciously know them or not. Reading her stimulates the reader to want more of her writings, which are plentiful and available. She also has a website worth pursing, at Jean Houston.org. An enjoyable read.

Excellent Read
Jean Houston is a gifted writer and speaker. In this book, Jean reminds us that our myths have power within them. They reveal our soul and ways we manifest ourselves into daily living. In so doing, our divine and human qualities merge into a sacred human path. -- Samuel Oliver, author of, WHAT THE DYING TEACH US: LESSON ON LIVING.

Chrysostom doing what he does best
This book gets 4 stars only because I reserve 5 stars for something really extraordinary. Chrysostom is a top-shelf preacher, and even though I may not agree with all of his dogma, his gifts cannot be denied. Let it be said from the outset that any preacher can benefit from reading his work, if only stylistically. Chrysostom has a gift for making his point in a stunning yet simple fashion. He deftly slices through to the heart of issues and sets his arguments in "real world" terms.

These sermons have to deal with, as the title says, marriage and family life. A real knockout is Chrysostom's sermon on how to choose a wife. Although it is set in 4th-century proto-Byzantine culture, the basic principles still stand. If only more preachers would offer such frank counsel on this issue from the pulpit today....

This text is inexpensive, so I would recommend giving a copy to someone who is at the stage in life where they are forming their ideas of marital/romantic relationships. Chrysostom's voice provides a good -- and well-articulated -- counterpoint to the dreck that passes for relational counseling these days. If nothing else, this volume may make them think critically about the cultural assumptions of our modern society, so they do not merely get swept along in the current of trendy mores.

Wonderful advice!
This text is easy to read and understand, I recommend it to anyone, whether or not they are considering marriage. The book is most definitely appropriate for High School age and up. However, the lessons that are taught in "On Marriage and Family Life" should be taught to children from birth.

Should be manditory by law to read
I really mean what I said in the title, this should be manditory by law to read for anyone even considering marriage. If people seriously weighed Chrysostom's words on marriage, divorce would probably be cut by half.

St. John, as always, lays forth an eloquent (yet simple & easy to understand) convincing argument for his views on marriage. He doesn't advocate marrying for money or looks or social position (something I'm sure is way more common than most people would want to admit) he advocates marrying for virtue. St. John argues that virtuous and poor is a million times better than excess gaeity & wealth.

He lays out criteria for selecting a wife, as well as traits that husbands and wifes should display. Not only does he discuss the institution of marriage, but he also talks about wedding celebrations themselves. Other topics such as sex are discussed as well (he doesn't hold negative view of it.)

He greatly stresses EQUALITY OF RESPONSIBILITY of both partners to make a marriage work. Children are also discussed in great detail. St. John Chrysostom is not only a great writer, but a holy man whose words we should try to incorporate into our lifestyles.

Highly recommended book.

what a book!
A great book! Full of action and adventure

Everything this author writes is great!
This is a wonderful book, very easy to read, and full of emotion and angst and drama. Written in the first person, the reader is invited into Pagan's world, and an interesting place it is too.

There are 4 books in the series, this is the first, I highly recomed the others.

Her most recent book, 'Eye To Eye' is also excellent!!

Catherine Jinks is the finest author for this age group around.

a humorous and moving adventure set in days of yore
This fast paced story will be sure to bring a smile to anyone's face, as our narrator and main character Pagan Kidrouk wittily tells us of his adventures. Set in Jeruselem when it was under Christian rule in the 12th century, Pagan is a half Arab, therefore a half enemy for the suspicious minded, a fact that can cause him trouble from time to time. Previously enrolled with the city garrison (and involved with some of the city's low-life), Pagan owes money and is therefore forced to enroll elsewhere. He went to the Knights of the Templar, or Knights of God. Hillariously told through his eyes, Pagan must learn about being the page for the knight Lord Roland deBram. As time and events wear on, these two build their friendship, and as the Turks threaten the holy city, Pagan is faced with losing that friendship, and so pushes his luck one more time in an effort to save it.
