Good book
Well after reading another in this series called "yesterday's Dawn" I was very unsure of how I would like this book. Well I was suprised.I found that the characters of Falcon a Jaguar warrior who's first wife divorced him after his son dies, and Star a Badger woman who becomes his slave are both strong and emotional. He is fighting the demons of his past concerning the son who was crippled and died and she is afraid that she will never see her people again and wants desperately to have Falcon's love for both her and any children they have.

This story is worth an afternoon.

A superb prehistorical romance!
This book is the best of prehistorical romance. I have a slightly older copy of the book, from a couple of years ago, and I can tell you all right now that this is superb reading, a story set 10,000 years ago in Ice Age North America.

When Falcon's son was born sickly and twisted, and deformed, and later died, Hawk's happy marriage to his wife Tula turned sour and ended. Overwhelmed by grief and numbness, Falcon became a cold, hard warrior for his people, the Jaguars.

Eventually, he feels the need to take another wife--not to love, but to merely warm his bedrobes at night and cook his food. He goes with other hunters to purchase women from another tribe, the Badgers.

Even though Star, the heroine, tries to disguise herself as an old woman to escape notice, she is found out and forced to accompany the other brides back to the land of the Jaguars. Falcon lays first claim on Star, and she finds herself quickly married to an unfeeling stranger.

Passion burns hot beneath the bedrobes, and for the most part, they get along. Star even falls in love with him. But the horrific and anguish-filled events from Falcon's past will not let him be. Can he save himself and keep ahold of Star before he loses her, too? Or will the dark depths of his own torment rise up and claim him again, before he can truly feel love once more? Read this book and find out!

Just Alright
The best I can honestly say about this book is that it was just alright. While there were some amusing scenes, the characters seemed quite generic and they never really came to life for me. The book starts off with the future heroe's emotional scarring, a method that I have read too many times to count. None of the characters were terribly interesting and the heroine herself sometimes annoyed me. The heroe would occasionaly treat her badly but instead of having any pride, she would fall into his arms every chance she got. The characters weren't really constant and sometimes they did things that were plain stupid and not really in keeping with their personalities. The book is a light read and I never got terribly involved in it. Sometimes I feel like reading a book that doesn't demand too much from me--at least this book served that purpose quite well.

This book is sizzlin'!
This book is great. Every thing aout it is really good. The characters were well developed and the plot was thought out. I've read lots of books and this one is up there with the best of them. I never really liked books the midwest but this one changed my mind. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading. Even those who think they don't like books about early midwestern days, this is a must read. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Romance takes a back seat in this one.
Captain Paul Baron is traumatized by the fact that he
killed his own brother in the Civil War. Assigned to a Fort in
the Dakota Territory, he drowns his sorrows in whiskey, and while
impaired is captured by Sioux warriors. Although the warriors
want to kill him, a widow named Yellow Leaf claims Baron as a
replacement for her elder son.
The captain reluctantly becomes part of the community,
taking the name Swift Warrior and eventually thriving in his new
life. His interpreter and instructor in the Lakota language is
Hope, whose white father abandoned her and her Sioux mother many
years ago.
Eagle Dancer is told in two parts. Part One deals with
Baron's struggle to forgive himself and to face life. Although
the attraction between Baron and Hope is present, they do not act
on their feelings until the end of Part One. Ms. Scott's
extensive research into the Sioux and the psychology of war
veterans is evident in this story. The scenes of Baron adapting
to life with the Sioux have a mystical quality, transporting the
reader to another world. These scenes steal the show, and the
romance takes second place.

exciting Reconstruction Era tale
Union Captain Paul Baron entered the military with plans to become a lifetime soldier expecting to serve out west when the war eventually ends. On the last day of the Civil War, Paul kills a rebel sniper. However, when he sees his victim, Paul's soul feels as if it has just been sucked out of his body. Stunned, he wants his honorable discharge immediately, but his commanding officer 'persuades' him to remain with the Army by helping Paul turn into an alcoholic.

Out west, Paul is the lone military survivor of a battle with the Lakota. He is taken prisoner and welcomes the chance to die. However, the Indian Hope lives up to her name as through her, Paul meets depressed Yellow Leaf, whose son recently died. Yellow Leaf adopts Paul and through these two Lakota women, Paul begins to reclaim his life, but has doubts about spending eternity as an Indian even if he loves his two saviors, one as a mother and the other as his soul mate.

Theresa Scott has written her best novel to date with the exciting Reconstruction Era tale, EAGLE DANCER. The story line is deep as the Lakota and White ways of life conflict especially through Paul. The lead male character is three dimensional as the audience can feel his angst over that final killing that haunts his essence. Hope has her own internal disunity to deal with especially her love for the former enemy of her people. Fans of absorbing historical romances starring strong characters from different lifestyles will find Ms. Scott's strong story simply stupendous.

Great class aid.
Well organized activities! Thanks TCM once again for making my job easier. Teachers rock!

Charlotte's Web
This literature unit was a great resource in teaching about the book. I used this book to teach my second grade students. The set up of lessons made my life easy. I love the way they broke the book up into chapters and already had vocabulary lists made. The book allowed for a very integrated curriculum. I would definitely recommend this resource to any teacher.

Great summary but it does not replace the real thing
In 1997, Theresa W. Fossum and 4 colleagues wrote a comprehensive book on Small Animal Surgery. I have not seen it but I have heard excellent comments about its illustrations and descriptions. For this reason, I bought the Manual thinking that it was a summary of the larger text. Great disappointment! It is a summary but without pictures! Paraphasing Alice: "What good is a surgery book without pictures?" There is nothing wrong with the Manual, except the absence of pictures; I don't feel secure trying to image operating procedures guided only by text, regardless how good it is. The Manual costs $ 50 against $ 150 de original; I should have sprung the full price and bought the original.

Great for students, Good for the practicing veterinarian
This book covers most procedures you'll ever need as a practicing veterinarian. tough less comprehensive than Bjorab's or Harris's small animal surgery books, it simplify many procedures with wonderful colourful images. A very attractive price (~45$ instead of more than 200$),makes it the perfect decision for students. I think that most veterinarians will find it sufficient for their needs. Enjoy

Better title would be Marian Shrines of the East and Midwest
This book has a very extensive listing of shrines in the East and Midwest but has only two listed in the entire West -- one in California and one in Oregon -- and only two in the Southwest. When I ordered the book I was looking forward to making some day and weekend pilgrimages to sites in my area. The book still gave me lots of ideas for pilgrimages, but they'll have to wait for my next trip back east.

Very informative
This book is an excellent guide of the Marian Shrines. It is not just for the traveler but for people that dream of visiting the shrines. The description of the shrines, the history and directions are all there.

It is a good book
i think when the dancing ends is a good book for young adults. It is good because it shows what really happens in life. It shows lives sometimes do not end happily ever after. I would recomend it for any teacher who is looking for a good book to read in class. I throughly enjoyed When the Dancing Ends. I thought it could have been longer but it has a strong ending

The book is a combination of fun, excitement and raw emotion
This novel is written from various points of view, which makes it an interesting read. I enjoy teaching this contemporary novel to my 8th graders because there is a little something for everyone. The surprise twists that the story line takes, makes the story enjoyable to read again and again.

don't really know what to say
Woman of integrity is the story of tantra, just tryin to make it through every day life. Tantra is faced with saddness when she loses her mother. Tantra's father that she never knew comes into her life only to disappoint her. An overall good read, but i felt it could have been a little more drama.

EXCELLENT FIRST NOVEL!
I loved this book. I thought Theresa did an excellent job, considering this was her first novel. I enjoyed reading about Tantra, and her incredible life growing up in the projects. I really adored the chapter on the death of her mom. Although sad, it took me back to a time when my own parents died and made me realize just how short life really is.

I suggest everyone support this author because she truly is talented, and I can see already she has great things in store for us... the readers. You should get this one quick, then take note of how powerful a writer this author becomes later on. She will be powerful, just watch and see. I can feel it!!!

This book was excellent, and the poetry is soooo sexy it'll have you sweating!

Awakening to Prayer
Published in Paperback by Ics Pubns (1994)

Brief but pointed
With the thousands of volumes on prayer, it seems there will never be enough. But of those to keep close and read again and again, Awakening to Prayer should be near the top of the stack. Simply written, this is more than a how-to-pray-in-10-easy-steps book. Pulling from both Eastern and Western influences, Okumura (a Japanese Carmelite with a background in both Shinto and Zen) shows the genesis of prayer within us and the evolution of prayer in our spirit and the world around us. While decidedly Christian, the author is gentle with readers of all faiths and many of his illustrations served to remind me that there are many points of interconnection between the world's great traditions than we often care to remember.
