Historical Truth
Finally a book that will tell it like it was. When you read this book you begin to realize the miseducation that is dished out in American public high schools and that this country was not built culturally by the Thomas Jeffersons or the George Washingtons, but by the working folk, poor white artisans and African captives. I learned more about the history of this country during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries from this book then from my entire pre-college scholastic career. My Prof. (Warren Perry)and I, as well as our entire class, love this book. Archaeology is truth, and so is this book.

From a "Things to do" list lover viewpoint
"Insomnia - 50 things to do" is an excellent book! Almost like a "to do" list, except it is about 200 pages. The explanations are short, dense, but still easy to understand, and deep enough to cover all the important aspects of sleeping, the contributing factors, and the different treatment options chapter by chapter. I was surprise, how fast I got through this book. (I have to admit, it wasn't my first book I've read on insomnia.) It is an excellent summary of all the things I've ever read, hear or seen about insomnia so far. After finished reading the book it was easy to look up certain parts to reread, and it was easy to create a plan, the list of things to change in my lifestyle, to get better sleep. I think this book can be helpful for others also (with or without sleeping problems) in self-education, and in the work of improving the quality of sleep and the quality of life.

The Long Forgotten - Invisible heroes
I had no idea what to expect when I received this book. With an open mind and search for the missing link I found I was captivated from the first word.

The interviews and thoughts translated to the author by the people who participated in the building process ranged from the working to the non-working. In each and every person I could find a piece of myself that had been long forgotten. Three of the individuals I found more than a piece of myself. I found a "sameness" from their need to return to basic needs that we all seem to let get away from us in the ultimate struggle to make our life better. By doing this we get away from so many things and people who helped shape our values (those invisible heros).

I had long forgotten the few invisible heros on the road to making a better life. If we can just hang on to one "invisible hero" throughout our lives we will be better people.

Each person involved in this project came away with a life experience that was not created by the hipe, commercialism or massive popular concept. It came from their own need. And that cannot be traded or bought.

excellent introduction to English & Spanish at an early age
Just purchased the book. Great teaching tool to introduce children to different languages. Bright colorful pictures to go along with the text. They certainly hold the interest of the children. Super idea for bilingual learning. Creative words were used. Bought a few to give as baby gifts.

Great for understanding & healing.
This book is wonderful. Filled with rich compassion, non-judgementalism and gives us women who have chose abortion our dignity. He challenges the pro life community to be more compasionate, more understanding, not knowing the full circumstancs each woman goes through. There are testimonies in the back of the book, I found helpful. This book is also great for clergy; of any faith. We women are teachers, doctors, mothers, friends, the walking wounded. We need much healing. Our greiving is done in secret. This book helps to identify our greif and help others who are going through the same. Very loving, very compassionate book.

Montezuma Rides Again or Who Was that Masked Man?
This is a gem of a book. I must admit it's my first travel book I've ever bought. Normaly on my travels along with my duffel bag I only bring a map. I can't say how much invaluable info is crammed into this book. The authors give every kind of advise that a traveller should know. Like on a bus trip one should take a bottle of water & a roll of toilet paper. I bring a 6 pack and a pint instead. And when the need comes I just roll down the window & let it out. Regarding cheap housing I disagree with the authors. The best & cheapest rooms are those in the red light zone. This book gives a good flavor of Mexico. It lets the reader be a real mucho maucho Mexicano before ever stepping across the border. As for the best spot to head for again I must disagree with the authors. Skip Mexico City and head straight for Tampico. This town has everything: good food, cheap rooms, fast women and lots and lots of bars. Mention my name at the Culo Cantina & they'll fix you right.

Literature and Sacrament : The Sacred and the Secular in John Donne (Medieval and Renaissance Literary Studies)
Published in Hardcover by Duquesne Univ Pr (1999)
Author: Theresa M. DiPasquale
Amazon base price: $58.00
Average review score:

The Literary and Textual Search for Real Presence
Fruit of over ten years of close readings of John Donne's poetry, this book presents the non-casual reader with a flowing series of essays by Theresa DiPasquale on the poets verbal research for Real Presence. Followed by a clarifying appendix on the doctrine of the Eucharistic Sacrifice, this book uses as a gauge of the poet's intentions both the contemporary doctrinal disputes on the nature of the Eucharist, and the reader-response to the confusing textual whirlpools of Donne's religious meditation. Donne is thus portrayed as a poet working with complex theological instruments, and dealing seriously with the doctrinal questions propounded by Roman Catholics, Puritans and Anglicans. The petrarchan, the erotic and the theo-philosophical overtones of Donne's poetry are all re-elaborated through the lens of the critic's theory on the intersection between literature and sacrament. A sine qua non for scholars-to-be and for seriously interested readers of John Donne's difficult poetry.
