A musicians instruction manual
I read the book in the Mid 80's while living in California and saw all of the myths that I thought were just that myths come to light out of the dark. This book is slimmer that the most of them but contains everything you need. "A musicians instruction manual."
A book for aspiring musicians.
Absolutely fantastic. Gives the honest truth about the business today. Any person in the music business should read this.
Awesome
This book is a God-send to all aspiring musicians. Gives you insight on everything from getting small-time gigs to recording to making it big.

Rhombus
Very captivating. Combines great technical detail, romance, life & death struggle; a hero who is very strong and yet full of compassion. If you like military action, this is a great book.
A Superb and Riviting Piece of Work
Rhombus is the kind of story you just can't put down. From the very first page, the story grabs you and won't let you go. I found myself coming back again and again until I finished it. Gore has done a splendid job of weaving and spinning a terrific plot, chuck full of interesting characters. An absolute must read! Dudley Henriques International Fighter Pilots Fellowship
I remember Homer McCormick
Good things do come in threes. I rank Gore's writing up there with two other West Virginia natives. Christum has the air warrior skills of Stephen Coonts'Jake Grafton and the warm emotional side of Homer Hickam's Sonny. His technical knowledge is used in a way that makes the story enjoyable, as opposed to Clancy's style of trying to overwhelm and impress the reader. I wonder if Gore still has that '64 Mustang I admired as a kid when it sat in his parent's driveway on College Park.

one of the best...
I can't say enough nice things about this book. It doesn't pretend to be a comprehensive guidebook on all aspects of cruising, but is rather an indepth examination of the true essentials. Just about any topic you can think of is covered, with new and insiteful thoughts on what works and what doesn't, as well as how to make cruising less technical, less expensive, less dependant on the chandlery and shore-side services in general. If you want in your heart to set off without a radio, without an engine, without radar, Loran, GPS, pressure showers or a microwave, and have been looking for very good reasons for doing so, then this is your book. Not only are these ideas mentioned in detail, but you'll see that lots of people sail a long way with very little fuss and expense, and have a wonderful, safe, and fulfilling time doing it. The yachting industry depends heavily on your feeling helpless, underequipped and in danger unless you buy one of their new (fill in the blank...radar, EPIRB, etc.), and Sensible Cruising will innoculate you against that bug, allowing you to make rational decisions about what is necessary and what is decidedly not. If nothing else, it's the best "Cruising on a Budget" book out there, bar none.
Turning Point
"Sensible Cruising" convinced me to buy a vintage 1972 Catalina 22' sailboat (swing keel) for $1000 (includes four sails, cushions, etc., but no trailer, nor outboard, which I didn't want anyway) ... the boat is in immaculate condition and is a fast, easy to sail, sailboat... it is moored in a marina along the Texas gulf coast ... best buy and best decision in recent memory! The authors' advice: to buy an affordable boat and GO SAILING was the 'turning point' in my sailing adventures! A dream come true ... there's nothing like messing about in boats!!! ONE HAPPY SAILOR, "Cap'n" Howard Jones
Finally...
A cruising book for regular people. A must-read for those of us who have or plan to have a reasonably seaworthy 25ish-30ish foot sailboat and want to go on a reasonable sabbatical cruise for a reasonable amount of time, i.e. weeks or months. Much needed coverage of the middle ground between buying a hundred-thousand dollar yacht and sailing thrice around the world for 10 years, and weekend lake-camping in daysailers. The authors even address the sticky issues of leaving & returning, motivating us to go and explaining how life may be changed by a successful cruise. The hypothetical ICW-Bahamas cruise is $19.95 worth of info alone. Don't let the thoroeau quotes put you off; this is a very practical book.

Wow
I got this because of a friend who said he loved it. Well he was right. I couldnt put it down. Mayer just pulls you in deeper and deeper until you want to know what happens, so you turn every page faster and faster. And let me tell you the end does not disapoint. Pick it up if you can find a copy.
A great adventure thriller about Special Ops
The third novel in the Dave Riley series is suberb. A splendid mixture of a government science project gone wrong, Special Forces operations, the CIA and the army. When genetically enhanced creatures, Synbats, escape from their creators and raise havoc with anyone in their path, Riley's team is assigned to clean up the mess. Terrific plot, great characters, nifty dialog, plenty of explosive action and some really creepy scenes with the creatures lurking in the shadows and sewer tunnels in Chicago. A good blend of action, dialog and comradeship. This would make a great action movie if handled right. Find this series if you enjoy action adventure books with a twist. The books are hard to find in some cases, but they are out there. Check out Mayer's other books, The Gate and The Line (written as Bob McGuire) for more splendid action novels. More Dave Riley.
SYNBAT ROCKS!
This is a fast-paced and easy-to-read action thriller with a hint of sci-fi which could well become science fact! Escaped convicts break into a biotechnology lab and unintentionally release two genetically-altered creatures bred to be the ultimate fighting machine. Sounds familiar? Well, this is better than PREDATOR! As the creatures prey on unsuspecting campers, Civil War re-enactors and Special Forces personnel brought in to stop the Synbat(synthetic battle form) creatures, it is up to ongoing hero Dave Riley, a SPECFOR commander, to stop the Synbats. And it seems, they're heading for Chicago . . . This would make a rockin' movie as well!

Good, good, good!
The fact that everyone uses the web in some way or another, this is a good book to have. I am a computer junkie and this book definitely kept my head afloat. But I highly recommend you read "A Branded World" by Michael Levine. This author really knows what he's talking about. The next time a company hands out memos to its employees, make sure "A Branded World" is on the top of the page!
Best book on branding online
I haven't made it past chapter 3 and I have already read a wealth of helpful information on branding your business name and branding tools. The author provides a detailed, step-by-step guide to branding and marketing techniques one can use both online and offline. This book is a must read for first-time start-ups and entreprenuers.
Great Book
This is a great book for those of you who want to make a name for yourself on-line. Bob has an abundance of ideas to get you started and to keep you going as you explore the ways to market yourself online. Bob has a very witty and humorous way to keep you interested in what he has to say. I think Mr. Baker is on the cutting edge of where the future of online marketing is headed. I highly recommend this book.

Touching
Bob Litak has a very special way of touching one's heart. It must be his special knowledge and relationship with "Santa". This is a must read. Simple. Moving. It would make a fabulous Christmas gift!
A wonderful look at the man behind the Santa suit!
A wonderful and heartwarming story about a small town Santa and his charming Mrs. Claus. This book can put a smile on the grinch's face and a hum in the bahhumbug of Mr. Scrooge. A must read to "get you in the Christmas spirit".
A story that warms your heart
The excitement of Christmas fills your heart as the author Bob Litak shares his heart- felt story with you. Most of us can relate to getting a job which was not one you asked for nor something you even wanted, but somehow turned out to be a blessing in disquise. Laughter and sadness tug at your heart strings as a friendship forms such a strong bond. Helps one to understand how much you can grow with in yourself. But most of all, it helps put the children back in our lives and makes us once again "Believe in Santa" If you enjoy reading a heart-felt story than I highly recomend this fantastic book.

Amusing, but not for everyone (not even all geeks :-)
It's a good book, but I think previous books have been funnier.
You must "rm -R /" from the shelves by buying it!
Great book for the geek! I start my day at work with my fix of the "Daily Static" otherwise know as the User Friendly comic strip. ...
It touches on many of the issues facing the technical geek today from the point of view of the geek. Issues range from the AOL, Time-Warner merger to the geek and dating (yes, it is an oxymoron).
The cast of characters are all well developed, even if they do only have four fingers. It is an enjoyable read and re-read. Get this for yourself or for your favorite geek. They will enjoy it!
Side-splitting funny!
Iliad's The Root Of All Evil is the third and latest compilation of the online mega hit comic strip, "User Friendly". The "User Friendly" comic strip holds no sacred cows, but pokes particular humor at the world of online techies, harried customer support service staff, Internet computer game addicts, narcissistic sales staff, and computer programmers who secretly plot world domination. There is a reason why one million readers in more than a hundred nations (including Israel, Brazil, Iceland, New Zealand, and Greece) have logged into Userfriendly.org to follow "User Friendly" comics. The reason is that "User Friendly" is side-splitting funny, even - or especially - for those of us who have lagged behind a bit in the wake of the technical revolution. The Root Of All Evil is a fresh breath of originality, guaranteed hilarious, and absolutely, positively, not to be missed. Highly, wholeheartedly, enthusiastically recommended!

A decent book for stress management
After taking Bob's course and using this book, I have learned new ways to manage stress which has helped increase my overall life enjoyment. The book is easy to read, has pictures, and diagrams to help clarify different areas. He includes situations to further describe his points. I highly recommend this book for those who are stressed out or just interesting in learning new techniques.
Help for your entire lifelong journey!
I took the course from Bob, the author of Slow Down & Lighten Up, and to say that he has a firm grasp on how to teach others how to deal with life's stress, is an understatement. He is emphathetic to people's problems, but has a strong ability to help you with behavior modifications , instead of the much easier pity-party ways.He will help you to take these new tools and integrate them so that they become second-nature, instead of reverting back to one's own old and destructive patterns.I would highly recommend this book for anyone , not just those that have suffered from prolonged anxiety. Very helpful, Bob--you definitely get a 5 star!!!
Excellent resouce for Anxiety/panic disorders
I have read numerous books on Anxiety/Panic disorders. I found they were lengthy and time consuming. If you find yourself lacking in patience as well as time like me, you will find this book a gift from above. Bob Van Oosterhout has given all the tools you need, from understanding stress, how to restore and maintain balance and dealing with day to day situations. The entire book is rich in content and very well written. It will get you moving torwards success right away.

Great title; great story
The book captured my interest from the start and held it to the end. A phone message from an old friend in Bangkok draws the main character, Harry, from his Asian antiques business in the States into a fantastic adventure with tales of extraordinary and incredible discoveries deep in the jungles of Southeast Asia. Written with humor and just enough detail to make this story fun and believable, the book leads you from the seamy side of Bangkok familiar to expatriots into some very remote and dangerous areas, with forests so thick and deep the only means of movement are on the backs of elephants and by long-tailed boats on a river. An apparently startling discovery has been made and Harry and his friend develop a plot to make themselves rich through an international and illicit network of greed. The plot has enough surprises to make the book difficult to put down. Very enjoyable reading.
A GREAT STORY THAT CAPTURES THE SENSUALITY OF ASIA
Between the covers of these books, the reader will find a little bit of everything that makes up the total package of experiencing Southeast Asia: negotiating the complexities of social relations, colliding with street-level life, peering down the small side streets shrouded in ancient patinas, and stumbling into the riot of everyday adventures, some soft and quiet, others loud and threatening, but all of them worth the price of a return ticket. A great, fun story.
A blistering fast pace
A blistering fast pace takes the reader from the US to Thailand and back, with a fascinating look at the seamy underside of the Asian antiquities market. This is a tale of adventure that is peopled by beautiful women, duplicitous crooks and, of course, an antique dealer with a taste for life. This is a fun read.
