To The Point
This is an excellent resource for anyone who has previously tried to utilize other "beginner's manuals" on AutoCAD and have been confused or overwhelmed. It is a step-by-step guide written in simple terminology with pictures! My kind of to-the-point without the extemporaneous info!

An Outsider's look at White America
Caucasian Americans are not accustomed to being stereotyped and generalized in academic literature. This satirical look at the elements of ancient Caucasian American culture provides a glimpse into the ways mainstream academics stereotype, compartmentalize, and sometimes entirely miss the boat, in writing about American Minority populations. The mysterious ways Caucasian Americans live in dissonance with nature, the intriguing puberty rituals practiced all over suburbia, and an affinity for Tupperware are discussed as interesting bits of exotica. Much the same way Native American cultures are discussed in many popular and academic works by mainstream authors. This book uses humor to address important issues of racism, paternalism, and over-simplification of other cultures' traditions. I reccommend this book to anyone teaching mainstream students about other cultures as well as those who have been duped by new age shamans.

Great reading for preteen girls
Holly Meredith will turn thirteen on Valentine's Day and she can't wait. Maybe this will be the year she'll get to visit her dad in California. He moved there after her parents divorced four years ago. Since then, Holly has grown very close to her mom and little sister, and she has a best friend, Andie, that she can share everything with. Well, almost everything.

Holly and Andie are having a great seventh grade year. At least until a new boy enrolls in their school. Now Holly and Andie are fighting over him. Jared is one thing the girls can't share.

According to some "Loyalty Papers" the girls created two years ago, one of them has to back off. Should Holly forget Jared so she can save her friendship with Andie? Or should she force Andie to stay away? Desperate to save her friendship with Andie and keep Jared, Holly tries almost everything. But none of her plans seem to work. Can her friendship with Andie be saved?

Originally published as "Holly's First Love", this is the first book in the Holly's Heart Series. It is well written and will keep you and your preteen daughter enthralled. Written in first person, you will truly feel you are having your first crush.

For Young Bibliophiles Everywhere...
Beverly Billingsly loved books, and she loved the library. On this special day, she finally got her very own library card. She searched the shelves until she found just the book she wanted, a big shiny dinosaur book full of pictures and information. "She couldn't put it down. On Wednesday, after school, she studied the iguanodon. On Thursday and Friday, she read about the ankylosaurus..." Beverly read everywhere, at the table while eating, in bed before sleeping, and even in the bathtub. "On Monday morning, Beverly woke up early to finish the final chapter, "Eating Habits of the Triceratops." As she turned the last page, she saw, stamped inside the back cover: RETURN BY APRIL 7." It was April 8th..... Alexander Stadler has written a delightful and humorous, true to life story with a reassuring, satisfying ending that is sure to put a smile on every little library-lovers face. His gentle and entertaining text really captures the essence of a preschooler as Beverly works herself up into a panic over the consequences of an overdue book, and his charming, bold and bright artwork adds to the fun. Perfect for preschoolers, Beverly Billingsly Borrows A Book is Mr Stadler's debut picture book, and hopefully the start of a new and marvelous series.
