The Journeys of the 12th century traders from Persia, many years before Marco Polo "discovered" China is a fascinating story beautifully told by Professor Xu Xin.
The book paints an excellent picture of the history of a people, cut off from outside world contacts for 500+ years but still able to maintain their strict Jewish values.
One story that is not told is that, when the word got back to Europe, many years later, that the Missionary Matteo Ricci had found Jews in China Oliver Cromwell, the pretender to the throne of England, allowed the Jews to resettle in that country after being exiled in 1290CE. The re-addmission was done without an Act of Parliament. Cromwell was aware fof the prophesy in the bible which states that the messiah cannot come/return ubtil the Jews are scattered to all the countries of the earth.
The Kaifeng community had a Rabbi until 18! 50CE and the names given to them by the emperor are still used, very few are aware of their Jewish Heritage.

All the patterns are full sized with very easily understood instructions. These projects are actually very similar to items I have admired in a friend's antique ornament collection. There are also a couple of projects that are nearly identical to beautiful items I saw recently at a rather upscale winter arts and crafts show.
This is a book well worth searching for.

The book also includes an appendix that contains facsimiles of various letters, questionnaires, and parts of chapters that are referred to in her other books. This appendix is very interesting reading. For those interested in what is really going on in education, all of Eakman's books are worth reading.

I believe that people of all faiths, including those still seeking, would greatly enjoy the genuine and moving experiences of Rose's family life through three generations....Yet I found myself held in interest from start to finish. Beverly Rose is simply a great writer!
As we read this book, many friends and family members came to mind with whom we are anxious to share it. We are looking forward to Rose's next book - we literally can't wait.
If only I had encountered a book like Mothers Never Die sooner! This masterpiece by Beverly Rose crystallizes both Jewish ethnicity and Christian faith through witty observations and poignant dialogue. Never losing sight of a profound mother-daughter relationship, this book manages to dramatize an entire family's Americanization over the course of three generations.
As a result of Beverly Rose's own physical suffering and transcendent conversion from Judaism to Christianity, the author, a Harvard-trained, doctoral-level clinical psychologist, is in an excellent position to offer comfort and joy, especially to those readers who continue to suffer from a loss of one sort or another . . . and who seek healing. Yes, another book about "overcoming," but so much more.
I heartily recommend that you read this book. It will be a blessing, a true gift to yourself . . . and one worth giving to others.
