Informative and optimistic
This a good book for any Lupus patient. I have SLE and found this book inforamtive, but it is interlaced with optimism and cases of people who were able to reduce their symptoms. It has everything.. the basics, meds, alternative therapies, coping and relationships, tips on what to ask the doc. This is a good book.

Best Lupus Book on the Market
Being a long time Lupus sufferer, I've read and have every book known to man. This book explains everything you've ever wanted to know about Lupus, very elouquently. Applause go out to the author, Theresa DiGeronimo. If you are or know someone who suffers from Lupus, this is the best book on the market.

Best of all the MANY books about lupus
As a lupus sufferer who's read just about every book ever written on the subject, I found this to be the definitive book on a very complex subject. Digeronimo covers the realm of symptoms, treatments and complications thoroughly and with warmth and compassion. If you've just been diagnosed with lupus, or know someone who has it, this is the book for you! Congratulations to the author on a job well done.

A Real Masterpiece
Great reading on those quiet Sunday evenings. The historical perspectives and timelines are the best part; really helps you understand the progression of literature as we know it. The Norton series (western literature) was used often in highschool for me, but I had quite narrow historical perspectives back then; this book has helped change that. I would also recommend Glimpes of World History by J. Nehru. Though it can be at times tedious, it is good accompaniment to this Norton anthology.

World Literarture!
This book is very fascinating to read if you're insterested in early Greek and Roman culture. The many stories and translations make the reading easy and fun. I would recommend this book to anyone!

A real life-saver!
This book has it all! This is the GREATEST collection of books ever printed!

Thought-provoking...worth every penny
I bought this book because I have two children and one of the other reviewers spoke about how the author views children as part of the "mega fauna" of a landscape and gives her suggestions on how to make an interesting outdoor "habitat" for them, so to speak. In addition, I've always tried to take an ecologically sound approach to landscaping in my yard by gardening organically.

Truth to tell, I never really thought about whether or not it's ecologically sound to plant mostly exotic plants in my yard versus native ones. I congratulated myself that I let a meadow emerge in my back yard when I moved in. I never gave much thought to exactly what was growing in it. I've always believed that it is just plain wrong to collect plants from the wild...but are there times when it is not only justified but perhaps actually beneficial? If so, when?

In any case, the book definitely stretched my perceptions and gave me a whole lot to think about in terms of my own typical, "newly developed" suburban lot. I felt like the chapter about the author's niece, also about such a suburban lot, could have been about my own.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in gardening or ecology...and even those not currently interested could probably benefit! Worth every penny I paid...not just an enjoyable read, but a very informative one.

Part 1 is more of a great thing, Part 2 is Especially Useful
Stein's way with words allows her to provide a huge amount of information in entertaining narrative form to the degree that one just can't put the book down. This is the appeal and value of her "Noah's Garden" and continues in Part 1 of "Planting Noah's Garden." Part 2 is something extra: direct instructions, charts, and everything a reader wants to know about how to follow in Stein's footsteps (or spade holes). She provides a wealth of information on everything from how to get started with the complex process of eco-gardening to precise information on specific plants and projects. This is really Stein's answer to the hundreds of letters and questions she has gotten since "Noah's Garden" and what an answer it is!

Highly Reccomended!
I cannot encourage anyone who is even slightly interested in wildlife or butterfly gardening strongly enough - READ THIS BOOK! Along with Noah's Garden, Stein's first "eco-gardening" book, this is a great read for anyone who finds endless lawns boring, or has driven past a wooded lot daily, only to wake up one day and find it has been flattened to make a strip mall. I have read both books several times and used the advice in both to build an beautiful butterfly and bird garden (on a patio outside an apartment, no less) and I can't wait to apply it to a full-sized yard. This book doesn't just encourage you to make a difference - even if it's just a dent - it actually shows you how. I loved it, and I plan to give it as gifts in the future.

Best general interest book about Morgan
Comprehensive with great photographs, this is a good place to start learning about Morgan's career.

The true Julia Morgan becomes known
I have always been interested in Julia Morgan's work but I have never been able to find enough solid and valuable information about her and her work. I own all of the Julia Morgan books, that is every book written about Julia Morgan. This, by far, is the best composition of the true character of Julia Morgan. Not only do you get an entire biography with incredible detail but you also get insight from hundreds of pictures, scans of actual plans Julia Morgan drafted and entires from other important persons. This book is a must have if you are looking for "the" book covering everything in Julia Morgan's life. This book stands alone among all the other Julia Morgan reads. I suggest that if you are looking for a book about Ms. Morgan, this is the best book, brings the greatest attention to detail that you will ever find about Julia Morgan.

Wonderful Review Of A Forgotten Master
A wonderful survey of a truly great Architect. Great photos. Original drawings. A detailed career history & biography. Most of the better known masters haven't gotten this kind of treatment; Ms. Morgan deserves it. GREAT book.

Murder & Sullivan

A fine work, especially for Gilbert & Sullivan fans
Sara Hoskinson Frommer has taken all the best elements of a murder mystery. She gets you caring about the characters and wanting to find the killer, and when you find out whodunit, you say to yourself, "Of course, I should have seen that." I loved the Gilbert & Sullivan references at the beginning of each chapter, and what an ingenious, Gilbertian plot twist to murder a "ghost." The only problem is that I am a Gilbert & Sullivan performer, and I'm going to be afraid if I ever get cast in the role of Sir Roderic Murgatroyd.

Like Gilbert and Sullivan, Murder & Sullivan Scores Big!
Perhaps the best of the Joan Spenser mysteries, Murder and Sullivan is soooo much fun! The main character is this ordinary music-loving lady, Joan, and she's always up to her neck in danger! I love all of Sara Hoskinson Frommer's books. They're fabulous reads if you like mysteries. A writer friend of mine says she thinks Frommer is the best mystery writer out there today..and she might be right, too.

Sara Frommer does it again!
Murder & Sullivan is another gem from Sara H. Frommer, a writer who understands music and real people. I'm not a professional book reviewer by any means, but I know what's good when I read it. I've read other books by this author and all of them are I think, wonderful.

The last in the series.
The final book in this special edition Golden Books series of the first STAR WARS trilogy. RETURN OF THE JEDI finishes the saga begun in A NEW HOPE and continued in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Like the other two books in the series, this book successfully condenses the plot of the movie into a small children's book. Contains some great pictures. Alas, there is no mention of the speeder-bike chase and there are no pictures of the Sarlacc. That's about the only negative aspect of this book. If you've read the first two, this one is a must.

Great intro to Star Wars.
This children's book is a great introduction to STAR WARS. The book successfully compacts most of the important plots of the movie. It also contains some great pictures to go along with the words. A few of the words are difficult for real-young, youngsters to understand, but other than that, that's the only drawback.

An incredibly illustrated book!
My 3 year old loves this book. He carries it around with him, spending at least 20 minutes a day looking at the pictures asking me to read it to him. The art work in this book really brings the characters to life. I highly recommend this book for children and Star Wars Collectors.

More Stong Characters from Sharon Sala
I've read almost every book Sharon has written either under this name or Dinah McCall. This book was very good! Again she created another strong romantic hero that just makes your heart melt. I strongly recommend this book and I'm looking forward to "Butterfly" due out soon.

His hermitage was invaded by a damsel in distress
Mackenzie Hawk's life of seclusion was obliterated when Sara Beaudry roared into his life on a motorcycle. With her brother in danger, Hawk is her last hope and he finds himself helplessly drawn to his ex-partner's sister. Sara needs Hawk's help. Her brother is all that is left of her family and she knows that if her brother has sent her to Hawk, the danger must indeed be great. But as she comes to know Hawk and to love this isolated man, she realizes that his existence is as vital to her as her brother's.

Sharon Sala has written a heart-wrenching story about a cynical and bitter ex-agent who is wary of women but drawn to the fiery protectiveness Sara bears for her brother. The strength of her faith in him disarms Hawk in a fundamental way and has him yearning for her love. It is Sara, however, who is the most striking character. Sala paints her as a truly beautiful person. On the outside, her beauty is her source of income but it clearly comes second to the men she loves. Her internal beauty comes from her faith in both of these men. She hasn't their physical strength but she also isn't afraid to do what she can to help them against their common enemy. In addition to this, Sara is down-to-earth and decisive. Though she experiences fear for both her brother and Hawk, she ably displays a courage that is born of her love for them. This is a gem of a story and should not be missed.

Great book!
I first read this book in the original "Kismet" release. It's pure Sharon Sala for those of you familiar with her books; in other words, a great story with wonderful characters. I won't go into a plot summary (others will, and how many times do you need to read that), but suffice it to say, that this is classic story of love unexpectedly found. Sara is a strong, yet, of course, vulnerable, female character, while Hawke displays all the tough without-being-domineering traits that Sala is known for. Most importantly, the love scenes are wonderful and tender. A great book for a re-release!

Sara's Potty

My Sara loves "Sara's Potty"!
I have to admit that the main reason I purchased this book is because my own daughter is named Sara. She is just about ready to start taking the advice in the book and loves to read it. Not technical which is a good thing, just cute and to the point.

Fun book!
We checked out Sarah's Potty from our public library but quickly decided we needed to get one to keep. My two-year-old daughter (not yet potty trained) loves this humorous look at the animals using the potty. She knows it by heart and will laughingly shout, "Nooooo!" when asked, "Does a Zebra sit on the potty?". I have ordered the little boy version, "Max's Potty" for my nephew.

Light-hearted and Engaging Introduction to the Potty
I like this book because it communicates all the important concepts related to potty training without taking itself too seriously. It is also a lift-the-flap book, and these books seem to hold toddlers' attentions a bit more than others. I also like the way that at one point it depicts Sarah playing with the potty which is differentiated from Sarah finally using the potty. It's nice for a book to make that distinction because often the first stage is for a child to play with a potty not fully understanding the concept. I also like the way that it teaches that we should wash our hands after using the potty (one of the few books to do so). Overall, a great way to introduce the idea of a potty--bright simple illustrations, just enough information, and a little humor thrown in too!

A page turner and more
I read this book while on vacation at the beach. I usually like to read books that are page turners while vacationing and this book was that...and so much more. Sara has an uncanny ability to recall minute shifts in consciousness that are hard to put into words to begin with, let alone 15 years after the fact. For me, this book ranks up there with the likes of "The Teachings of Don Juan" in its tale of one woman's path from vague, cosmic discontent to a clear look at the patterns that have caused human beings to suffer for thousands of years. Her account of finding her teacher in Cheri Huber, a female, western Zen teacher, are marvelous, scary, tender and funny...everything a Zen teacher should be. Sara makes discovery of self (or should I say "no-self") not only seem possible but actually the most important thing we could ever do for ourselves, our families and the world.

Accessible Spirituality
Sara Jenkins freely reveals herself as she travels her road of spiritual growth. She lets us see the joy of the journey rather than a constant focus on the destination. You don't have to practice meditation or be a Buddhist to love this book although it may inspire you to do either. This is a book for those of us who, regardless of our chosen path, are open to spiritual discovery, and I highly recommend it.

An Inspiring Meditation Memoir
I was delighted and engaged by this "meditation memoir" from start to finish. The author's style is lucid, lyrical, humerous, and at times very beauriful as she confesses the true life -- the progressions, regressions, and digressions -- of a meditator who longs for the spiritual life. There is a wonderful tension throughout the book, so that I wanted to keep reading and following Sara's adventures (from India to Tennessee and more), and didn't want the account to end! It has great intimacy as well as universality, so that, by the end, I felt I knew the author like a close friend and compatriot. This is a good book to read after you've read all the meditation masters, the meditative high-flyers -- then read this, breathe a sigh of relief, and know that "This is how the spiritual life REALLY is" for most of us here on earth. I loved it!

Into the psyche of a cat
This book is wonderful for children and adults. Cat owners will love and laugh at the perfect characterization of the feline mind. I had been wondering what present to get my dear friend, an owner of five cats, for completing her doctorate in veterinary medicine. She'll be receiving this book!

You can read it to yourself, too!
THREE STORIES YOU CAN READ TO YOUR CAT is really three stories: The Rainy Day, The Yummy Bug, The Good Day. The book is obviously meant for kids to read aloud. But you can read it to them, too. And you and the kids can practice "acting" during the dialogue. Each story is separate and complete -- and hilarious! The action captures the cat's personality. And the brightly colored illustrations are really funny. The nameless cat should be called Mischief (another fun thing to do with the child: find names for the cat). This book proves that, to a cat, it's all about the cat. F.Y.I., there's also a "Three Stories You Can Read to Your Dog" book.

Great read aloud book. Fun for all ages & species!
A cute idea, well conceived and cleverly executed. I read both the cat book and dog book aloud to a group of elementary students (mixed levels) and it was enjoyed by all. Lots of expression and opportunities for "dramatic reading". Great illustrations add to the delight.
