Wonderful Book
Sara Marie Hogg has written a wonderful book about growing up in a small Ozarks community in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Catho Darlington, the quirky young protagonist of the book, is a character everyone can relate to in some way, especially if you grew up in a small town between 1950 and 1975.

I found the book very enjoyable.

Sara's done it again!
Sara Jordan surpasses other music producers for children yet again with "Celebrate the Seasons". I've exclusively used other Sara Jordan products to reinforce concepts for early learners, children experiencing difficulty in school and in production of school musicals. Her production values are great, the songs are catchy and she provides high content, interesting activities in addition to the music. What a boon for busy teachers. I'd also highly recommend "The President's Rap"for teaching American History.

Wonderful Songbook and Tape
I recently purchased this wonderful songbook and tape. The entire third grade class of our elementary school performed this program on our P.T.A. night. My students and the audience loved it! I especially appreciate how the music was written to be representative of each different culture and the kids couldn't help but memorize a zillion facts that I didn't even know before. Way to go!

Celebrating the Wild Mushroom: A Passionate Quest
Celebrating the Wild Mushroom: A Passionate Quest written by Sara Ann Friedman is a fascinating little tome. All about a journey, an infatuation into the world of fleshy fungi. This book takes the reader on a road less traveled, a road of little-known, somewhat mysterious and remarkable, to a world about the collection of mushrooms.

The author has a somewhat lyrical narrative throughout the book as she describes how she collects, draws and cooks the mushrooms she collects. She has many delightful recipes within the book as you read... many of these recipes are a collection of themselves and are culled from other devotes collectors around the country. As she describes the delicious edibles, you can imagine the unique flavors as you see the richly detailed illustrations. This book can be used as an illustrative supplement to a field guide as she writes about spore color, size and shape; usually the most important determining factor to many closely look-a-like mushroom species.

If you can find this jewel of a book around, by all means, it is well worth the money. As this is a very literate, readable book for the person with a mycocentric bent, and a very wise adjunct for all mycophiles to own.

Great book for all -- explains and allows self-expression!
This is a great "interactive" book. One that can help adults and kids talk about the pains of parents dating and getting married and having two families, what it all means - and what it does not mean. My 8 y.o. step son (whose parents seperated when he was one) has liked to go through this and draw and explain his drawings to us! Good for all ages!

I will buy any book Sara Slavin provides the art direction for. Her books are so beautiful and they are perfect companion resources for the subject matter they cover.

Classic Kosher Cooking: Recipes for the Jewish Homes

Definitely a Classic
Whenever I am invited into a home I have to peek at the cookbook collection, the way some guests peek in the medicine chest. I have found Sara Finkel's book in many, many homes and I have yet to find a copy that isn't well used, stained and dog eared. One friend recently went out and bought a second copy so she could keep it separate for Passover. I think this just about says it all. There are certainly recipes in this book that didn't appeal to me, but even those I have been told are big hits. Her meat recipes tend to the sweet (she uses grape jam in one roast recipe, Coca Cola in another) which is not to my taste, but her chicken and turkey recipes are all winners and her cookies and cakes are unsurpassed. Most of my friends started out borrowing from one or another, or copying recipes out longhand, but one by one we all broke down and bought our own copy. No one I know has been sorry. I strongly recommend this cookbook to anyone, Kosher or not, who is interested in having a repetoire of good, easy, surefire recipes to make at home.

Fantastic
This was the required textbook for a class on Animal Intelligence at the University of Kansas. Contained various examples from a broad range of animal intelligence. Illustrated quite well how little we know about intelligence.

Collected Poems of Sara Teasdale

outstanding book of poetry
Sara Teasdale has truly moved me to tears so many times in the reading of her incredibly sensitive poetry that it's hard to put common words to it. I have read this collected works many times and it is a wonderfully arranged collection of her finest poems. Any reader of poetry will be entranced by her precision and immense sensitivity to life, love, pain angst etc. As a professor, I often read sections of her poems to my students and it never fails that they love this women's words of love , her appreciation of nature, and the powerful eyes of one who sees life. I know of few poets in history that can approach her simple way of opening the wounds of our lives in such few words. I recommend her to all who would be ready to enjoy true poetry at it's finest

Colors (Primer Series)
Published in Library Binding by Little Brown & Company (1991)
Author: Sara Lynn
Amazon base price: $5.00
Average review score:

Excellent for teaching color recognition.
This is the best book I've seen for teaching children their colors. The bold graphics are simple and appealing. There is soothing repetition in the format, with just enough variation to keep little ones interested. This book is most appropriate for use with a single child, since the details of the pictures might not be readily visable to a group, and there is no text except for the color names. The adult who has time and energy for cuddling close and pointing things out ("Look, here the clown has a shirt with blue stripes." "Oops, the ladder has a broken rung.") will find using this book to be very rewarding.
