This book is an insight to a world very different from ours
This book, an insight to the life of a handicapped man, depicts the true harships that someone of that nature must unwillingly endure. Thomas, showed greta courage and stamina, even up to his death. "Because of Thomas" reminds us of how lucky we are, and I am happy to say that the window ofother worlds has been opened up for me to see what these people went through. This book is encouraging, not negative. I found it very capturing but at the same time a vivid reminder of those who struglle through each day but make the most of it.

A NECESSARY HAGGADAH FOR EVERY IRAQI JEWISH FAMILY
Here in America, we Jews have all blended together so well that many of our own customs - especially for those not from Europe - have almost been forgotten. What an important contribution it is, therefore, that that Iraqi Jewish Haggadah is now avaiable in English and Hebrew. This is a Haggadah that every Iraqi Jewish family in America (or any English-speaking country) should have!

A wonderful reference of ways to achieve light an shadow.
Shadows, when done properly, show off any subject matter. The artists whose works are in this book were chosen from over 4,000 entries, and represent some of the best watercolor artists in the country. The authors have done a superb job of gather and displaying them in a wonderful venue.

Great Book on Alternatives to Sprawl
This is one of the best books I have ever seen on land use planning and growth management. It is filled with color photos of conventional(i.e. bad) development and its alternatives. The book provides great data and arguments for improving the quality of new development.

The best book of theology I've read in years.
This is one of the best books of theology I have read in a very long time. As a novelist, Sara Maitland is able to write with great flair and insight. Yet she is also well-versed in science and mathematics. This is a marvellous combination of abilities for any theologian to have. Maitland explores the implications of contemporary science and mathematics for our understanding of God and shows how our traditional picture of the divine is too small to cope with the evidence. With a novelist's insight into the chaotic and unpredictable nature of human life, she draws a tantalizing picture of a God big enough to fit the facts of the universe as we know them.

The book is subtitled "a feminist's search for a joyful theology" and this might deter some readers who are wary of the general run of 'feminist' theology. However, a careful reading of that sub-title will reveal an important point is being made: the is not "feminist theology" but the theology of a person who happens to consider herself a feminist. Though she might not claim the title, Maitland's work is feminist theology at its best--never doctrinaire, always critical of ideology, the product of a woman who draws together extraordinary gifts and abilities and applies them to the big questions about God. Readers might also enjoy her novel "Ancestral Truths" in which many of the insights canvassed in "A Big-Enough God" are given play in the setting of a family struggling with its various demons.

Block Scheduling
This book takes you from initial thoughts about changing from traditional scheduling, to parent, teacher, and community support for block scheduling, to designing a block schedule that works for your school. The book gives many different possible schedules. (This book does not include information on 4 x 4 block scheduling that some schools are using today). Rationale and research for block scheduling are included. The best parts of the book for me, as a teacher, were how to use the 90 minutes effectively and not simply as two 45-minute classes. There is an extensive list of student involvement activities, help with lesson planning, and several sample lesson plans with grading rubrics. A great resource for someone new to block schedules.
