Child Psychiatry Review
After a considerable search to find a professional level, readable, up-to-date Child and Adolescent Reference, Lewis' work fully meets or exceeds my expectations. Articles draw on expert opinion, research findings and clinical practice to give encyclopediac references. A very wide scope. The only comparable volumes are the Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry VII, and that reference is not child-centered but rather adult-focused. This volume excels in clarity of presentation even as it delivers extensive and thoughtful clinical/theoretical material.

Great Reading
This book was lent to me by a friend who is a physician herself from Harvard Medical School. Anyone interested in neurosurgery as well as general surgery, infectious diseases and preventive medicine would find this book engaging. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to become a physician or who is a physician--it is inspiring and causes one to think about medicine in a whole new light. Once I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down.

Good Research Material
This was the first report on asteroids and meteors I have ever done. This was my cornerstone of my vast research material. A great report book, you should get it, or even better rent in from your school libray. (Since it's out of print)

A Fantastic Medicinal Herb Book
This is the first book I ever purchased about herbs. I really cannot say enough good things about it. The author has cures from some of the greatest healers in history. These are time-tested recepies. I really like the index, that way if I can't sleep I look up insomnia, if my head hurts I look up; headaches, if I have a flu, cold, colic, digestion, I first look in the index. This book also explains exactly how to go about making a things with confusing name like; decoction, infusion, tincture, etc. I have so many notes in my book I came on here to buy another one to make aditional notes in.

This is a great tool to use to explain attention
I highly recommend this book (actually a booklet to work through with your child, a poster and an explanatory guide). I am the mother of a child with a learning disability. My son's 5th grade teacher (who has extensive experience in dealing with learning disabilities) recommended this tool to me when some attention issue cropped up in the classroom. This is a great tool to use with children who have difficulty attending to a task. My son is not ADD, but he does have some attention issues. Working through the booklet with him helped immensely--both in terms of demystifying what was going on and in giving us a common language to communicate about what the issues were. We think things like "he just doesn't pay attention", but Levine makes it clear that there are many components to attention and that you can be very good at some and poor at others.

A Book that Uplifts the Soul
What a marvelous compendium of African American spirituality! Readers will invariably find themselves adding their own "Amen" with every turn of the page. The value of the book is enhanced by moving pictures and illustrations. A helpful bibliography and index are also included. It is regrettable that the late James M. Washington is not around to see the full fruit of his labor. He has certainly produced a work that is both timely and timeless in its relevance.

Superb readings in black history and theology.
Some of the best scholars of theology and sociology blend forces to provide a new focus on Afro-American religious experience, presenting specific cases in black history and theology to reveal underlying roots of black suffering. It's difficult to easily categorize Courage to Hope: it offers appeal not just to students of religion, but to those examining black history.

The meaning of analysis
This book would more correctly be described as a book on analysis, because of the completeness of its proofs. It assumes you know just arithmetic of natural numbers, integers, rational, real and complex numbers-that is to say, just how to sum, multiply, subtract and divide. Edmund Landau wrote a masterpiece, because nothing is left without proof. You will not find a single step missing. From arithmetic to all the concepts of calculus, like differentiation, integration, infinite series and sequences, this book contains the mathematics that most mathematicians should know presented in a perfect way. It is not easy reading, though. Landau strives to reach the perfect axiomatic presentation, so like Euclid's "Elements" the book is the clear and beautiful presentation of a doctrine. I dare say that no book in analysis approaches Euclid's ideal of presentation better than Landau's, never in the past and never in the future. What you will find in this book is, in its best appearance, truth, that will not change even in a thousand years.
