An Excellent Undergradute Level Textbook
Hinich and Munger's work is a useful introduction to the field. They explain certain basic concepts like the Median Voter Theorem at the outset of the work and then they elaborate and expand the coverage slightly. Besides being an introductory textbook, it also explains for everyone the dynamics of modern political decision-making. It offers an invaluable insight to the processes by which decisions are made and they are well argued. The fact that at the end of the book, there is a section which explains the areas that need further research is also beneficial. A well-balanced, informative book on Political Science.

The best of political theory explained
A provactive anaylsis of political decision making, Analytical Politics is an excellent source for a political rookie or famed political scientist. Professor Munger's writing is easy to read and simultaneously very informative. His quick wit in the classroom carried over directly into the writing, which is laced with jokes and puns that make the sometimes heavy theory of politics enjoyable and easier to comprehend. This book is an outstanding starting place for anyone aspiring to grasp the driving forces of politics.

One of the only College texts I actually enjoyed!
I first read this book over 10 years ago. it quickly became one of the only textbooks I have read cover to cover more than once. Anyone wanting to learn more about Chicago history will love this book. I continue to use it as reference and as a continous form of entertainment.

Comprehensive and Beautiful
This book is a very thorough overview of Chicago's rich history. It also has a very large amount of pictures which make it good as a display book for your coffee table. Anyone who has lived in Chicago can read this and understand the significance of Chicago's past and its influence on the city's evolution.

A superb anthology of an outstanding Black poet.
Raymond Nelson edits Harlem Gallery And Other Poems Of Melvin B. Tolson (1865-0), which presents works from one of the most recognized black voices in American poetry. His poems are here organized by topic and include notes for further study.

The Melvin B. Tolosian Review
Melvin B. Tolson was recognized as one of the first African American poets whose poetry has been classified as being in the esoteric category. The implication of this statement means that Tolson was writing poetry in a format which would be acceptable by the greatest English and American poets. One of them who recognized Tolson was W.H. Auden, who wrote favorable reviews about Tolson's poetry. Tolson, who came after the last years of the Harlem Renissance era, knew many of the prominent writers and poets of that era, which lasted from the 1920s through the 1930s. He knew many of the well known writers and poets of that period, including Langston Hughes, Richard Wright, Zora Hurston, V.F. Cavington, Ralph Ellison, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Gwendolyn Brooks, Margaret Walker, W.E.B. Dubios, James Weldon Johnson and Charles S. Johnson. While he was at Wiley College, Marshall, Texas, Tolson established his reputation by publishing his first book of poems entitled, Rendezvous with America, in 1944. For years prior to that date, Tolson taught English classes to thousands of students since his arrival there from Lincoln University, Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1923. Also he was the coach of the famous Wiley College Debate Team, which included, James Farmer, who later became the founder of the CORE Civil Rights Organization.

a vade mecum for the protein biochemist!
I perform so much protein purification and yet i still find this book to be a helpful reference for pointing me in new directions in the lab. although some of the sections are not terribly useful, they describe each major type of chromatography in a reasonable way and also discuss what to do with your protein once it is purified (e.g. mass spec, library screening); again in a way that is understandable!

A must book for biochemist that intend to purify proteins
This is a must book for biochemist and people that intend to become one. It gives a vast background on most biochemical methods used for the purification of proteins, including the history behind the methods. Not to mention the availability of comments on most topics, that help in understading the limits of the various procedures.

Excellent textbook
I highly recommended "Nutrition for Health, Fitness and Sport" to exercise science and nutrition students. It's comprehesive yet not too technical.

You may also want to order "Creatine: The Power Supplement" by Williams et al. (Human Kinetics 1999).

PS. You may also want to read my article "Protein metabolism in exercising human with special reference to protein supplementation":

Tons of information that you can understand and apply
Melvin Williams has written a great book on sports nutrition. He takes a chapter to cover every nutrient including supplementation and athletic performance in regards to that nutrient. He also covers fluid and electrolytes. He also includes weight loss, weight gain chapters that are very useful for any athlete of any level.

Paleolithic Diet in Moderation
The paleolithic diet recommendations in this book are a bit more conservative in that whole grain breads and pastas, legumes and some low fat dairy products are allowed. I believe alot of the other popular paleolithic diet books severely restrict if not eliminate these items along with most carbohydrates. In fact, the diet recommended in this book reminds me a great deal of the Mediterranean Diet. Someone interested in eating healthier versus someone wanting to lose weight will find it very helpful. Provides a good foundation from which to become familiar with the paleolithic diet without being too extreme.

A prescription for living based on our evolutionary past.
The Paleolithic Prescription provides detailed advice on living well based on evidence from our evolutionary past. The authors, physicians and anthropologists from Emory University, have written an eminently readable work. They deserve great credit for their extensive research.

The book's main theme is that humans today are genetically little different from our hunting and gathering ancestors. The agricultural revolution some 10,000 years ago and the industrial revolution some 200 years ago radically changed our relationship with the Earth. The authors marshall evidence that much degenerative disease can be attributed to our essentially pre-agricultural bodies being unable to adapt to post-agricultural and post-industrial conditions.

Both the Zone books by Dr.Barry Sears and Protein Power by the Eades list The Paleolithic Prescription as a reference. The principal focus of the book is nutrition but the authors also contrast the relationship between the sexes that occurred when we forsook our evolutionary heritage.

The book is not based on conjecture.A handfull of hunting and gathering peoples still exist on our planet.Extensive anthropological observations as well as fossil evidence provide convincing evidence.

The authors do not deny the merits of modern medicene. They feel we can apply the lessons of past life ways and enjoy optimal health in the best of both worlds.I would like to ask the authors if the lowering of the infant mortality rate through the conquest of infectious disease [with its subsequent deterioration of the gene pool] is in the planet's best interests in the long run.

This is a profoundly important book.I rank it among the top 5 most influential books of my life. It is essential reading for anyone caring about preventing degenerative health problems:cancer,cardio-vascular,asthma,arthritis,etc.

Arthritis Techniques Great
This is the first book I have ever read that deals with joint protection. The recommendations make good sense and I have already started to incorporate them into my lifestyle. I was surprised when I read the information about how arthritis can be caused or aggravated by not drinking enough water. I have already stepped up my water intake. Lots and lots of good advice and eye-opening facts about how arthritis can cause many serious, and even life-threatening, conditions...

Preventing Arthritis
As a health-conscious and active individual in my early thirites, I am always looking for information that can help prevent illness later on in life. This is the first book I have ever seen that tells me how to keep my joints healthy for a lifetime. The recommendations are sensible and practical, and I have started to put them into practice.
