Sammy Shrimp is Sensational
I really love this series of books. My 7 year old daughter wants everyone. The names are catchy and she likes reading the list of books in the series. "Sammy" is out most recent addition to the book and although they are educational, there is something about it that just catches a kids attention. Maybe it's Sissy Shrimp teasing Sammy about being a little shrimp. (I think the focus is on "s" in this book.) I've also learned from these books.

MFA's Gift Creates a Stir in Boston
Melvin Blake and Frank Purnell were avid art collectors. At the time of their death, many of their art works were willed to Boston's Museum of Fine Art and have become part of the museum's permanent collection. To honor this gift, the museum had a special showing of their work and issued this book as a commentary and companion to the exhibit. Most of the pieces in the collection are twentieth century works. There is great variety in this collection. The collection has a number of nude works, but the people depicted in the paintings and sketches are hardly glamorous which adds a certain intrigue to them. Perhaps the most interesting work in the collection is Vanitas by Claudio Bravo. This work depicts a man from Tangier sleeping while his son blows bubbles. The man looks almost like a monk and the son a choir boy. A close second would be Antonio Lopez Garcia's Lavabo y Espejo which depicts a bathroom sink. The painting is both simple and striking. This book exposes people to these relatively unknown works of modern art and the written commentary of the book is very helpful an introduction to the artists featured as well as a testimony to the generosity of the Blake and Purnell estate.

Structure of the Corporation: A Legal Analysis
Published in Paperback by Aspen Law & Business (1977)
Author: Melvin Eisenberg
Amazon base price: $22.00
Average review score:

Dated but still valuable
STRUCTURE OF THE CORPORATION is a classic of the traditional school of corporate law scholarship. It provided the blueprint for early drafts of the ALI Principles of Corporate Governance and was especially influential on California law. Doctrinally dated, but still worth reading by students of corporate law. It will be of particular utility to those trying to understand the evolution of corporate law during the turbulent 1970s.

A GREAT book, teaches children of extinction turtles face
Tammy Turtle is a book about a loggerhead turtle, which follows her life from hatching to reproduction. Amazingly, Tammy returns to the same beach where she hatched to lay her eggs. While at the beach, she finds her sister, whom she had not seen since their race to the sea. This book is informative, teaching children about the reproduction cycle of turtles, how humans help them in their fight for survival, and how litter poses a serious threat to turtles. Children learn how they can help animals by not littering. One can easily go online and develop a lesson plan focusing on TAMMY TURTLE. My plan includes geography (map of loggerhead turtle habitats), dexterity (coloring sheets), and basic math (dot to dots).

Excellent Mass Comm Theories
This book was excellent at explaining in detail some excellent well known and lesser known mass comm theories. Not only does the book give excellent theories but also gives numerous examples of how these theories apply to daily life and the many facets of communication as a whole. Well worth the price and the time. Especially helpful if working on a thesis.

Why This Book Was Never Made Into a Movie, I'll Never Know.
Imagine if you will Richard Pryor in the deep south circa 1900. Now imagine Pryor and Gene Wilder(scalpless in a Daniel Boone outfit) going to school together...in Hell. "School in Hell?" you say.Mental torture is easier the smarter you get. Now imagine the misadventures of Richard and Gene, when the Devil sends them back to earth for a second chance. This book is racial/farce social/satire at it's best. It would have made a great movie.Hey Mario...if you're out there help you Dad out get the movie made someday.

Excellent child's view of the Mentally Ill
This is a children's book about a young boy's Uncle Melvin who lives in the "Looney Bin," and is the boy's caretaker during the day while his parents are at work. The child's open heart and Uncle Melvin's refreshing views on rainbows and weather are an excellent reminder, to parents and children both, that there is beauty in everyone.

In-depth herbalism info for the region.
This book has a wonderful review and information about plants in the Missouri River Region of the United States, and a bunch of information as to how some of the tribes in the local area used them traditionally. My only beef with the book is that the authors did not do another one for at least one other region of the US - wish they would!

Great science book for kids and adults
We bought this book while vacationing at Cape Cod. Using a question and answer format, the book clearly and simply explains many facts about the ocean and ocean life -- at exactly the right level for kids. Just enough info, not too much.

My five and eight year old kids loved it and so did I.
