Hay is the best!!
I believe the best book I've ever read is "Heart Thoughts (A Treasury of Inner Wisedome)". This book, written by Louise L. Hay really has a way of opening up the minds of the readers to new ways of thinking and viewing the world around you. She introduces you to a universe of positive, personal affirmations and sets you on the path to total acceptance and love for everyone and everything. Hay shows readers that there's SO MUCH more to life than one may think. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in metaphysics and personal growth.

Sometimes you just need some good inspiration.
It *is* possible to change your negative perspectives into a positive lifestyle. Simple affirmations, simple solutions, and possible positive energy. Open the book to any page and reflect on a new discovery, or look something up by subject. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down. A great gift idea for yourself or someone you care about.

Heritage of the star

captivating, imaginative, and irresistably thought-provoking
Embarassingly enough, I'd not even heard of Ms. Engdahl before my wife introduced me to her works (the star trilogy, etc.). This book, along with its sequels, has proven to be one of the most thought-provoking and captivating works that I've read in years... and that's saying quite a bit. Not only were the setting and plot creative, the characters were very accessible, personally... and I found special empathy with Noren's quest for meaning while blessed/cursed with a questioning mind that doesn't easily settle comfortably in one place. This book was stirring, touching, and hopeful in a very wise, subtle, and engaging way. I'm only sorry that the trilogy is ended! (Any change of a sequel...? :) )

How to Take Your Grandmother to the Museum
One of my first grade students brought this book into school one day. I read it and decided I had to have it. Lois Wyse wrote a humorous story perfect for a Grandparents' Day Celebration or just for casual reading for children of all ages.

A great book
A cute and heart worming story about a girl and her Grandmother. I love this book with all my heart. The book was fantastic!

Wonderful Book!
This book is absolutely great! My toddler loved it. She ended up reading it to me! It is now a beloved addition to her bookshelf. Don't miss out on this one!

I Heard A Little Baa
This book was the absolute best! My nine month old little boy was entranced. This is the first book that he has let me read from cover to cover without stopping. Then he wants me to read it again. It is the household favorite. Everybody needs a copy! This one will last a lifetime if we don't wear out the pages!

Visually and sensually appetizing- not a dull moment.
Incredible taste sensations. The soups are amazing due mainly to the delectable Veg. Soup Stock that listed on page 45. The French onion soup and the Leek and pea soup with mint are astounding. The photographs elegantly frame each dish and just inspire you to try it yourself.

The fare is table-worthy, and the book bed-worthy.
I would have bought the book for its photos alone. Now, I wonder what could have inspired that photographer, hmmm? I prepared a couple of the recipes and they were great successes, and then gave the book away thinking I could get another one for myself, but alas, it is out of print! Now, all I can do is covet my friend's copy. Bummer.

None Better
I have been in the public community MH system for 30+ years and find this to be the best resource I've ever encountered. I also have used it in the community college basic counseling skills class I have taught for the past four years. It is filled with great resource material, clinical vignettes, role plays. It doesn't get any better than that. One of the few college texts worth the price in my opinion.

A Textbook Worth Buying and Keeping!
This is by far the most useful textful I have ever used. As a graduate student in psychology, I have often used this text as both a training resource for my education and a problem solving guide in my clinical work. Written in language that you don't need a degree to understand, this book presents clinically applicable strategies for working with both children and adults in a variety of "helping" settings. That is, it reviews many of the basic skills one needs to talk to people effectively as a counselour or therapist. Each chapter includes detailed explanations, relevant examples, and exercises for integrating the discussed skills and/or interventions for your own use. It's one of the few resources that presents useful and relevant approaches to relating to people in a readable and understandable context. Best of all, this textbook makes an effort to discuss many of the issues facing "helpers" in the modern world of managed care. It's absolutely the best resource out there for developing and honing intelligent clinical skills!

Ip for 3G: Networking Technologies for Mobile Communications

Unique Reference
It is a very well organized textbook. Authors first explain reasons (economic and technical) for IP-3G convergence. Major conceptual differences between IP and mobile communications, on standardization processes, network approaches, connectivity, design approaches are compared in order to highlight difficulties for such a converged solution. Then three major issues are examined in details: session management & SIP protocol, QoS and Mobility Management (macro and micro). Last, authors discuss what is next: All-IP 3G and beyond.
This is an excellent book about the subject, for its coverage, simplicity and appropriate references and 'further readings' lists given at the end of each chapter.

A Must for 3G and UMTS readers.
Primary focus of this book is protocols for 3G/UMTS networks. This book covers 3G concepts in some detail but pays attention mostly on network side and protocols. Which makes this book a must to have together with Kaaranen's and/or Korhonen's book. Contents is light in maths and easy to read. Very good diagrams and plain English. A concise and easy to access content makes this book very useful. Read at once and get the idea how it works. Warmly recommended.

Clothes as High Art
The silks and velvets featured in Ipek are amazing in their detail, brilliant color, and craftsmanship. I found it particularly interesting that Ottoman textile and Iznik tile designs were often identical - although not even Iznik tiles can compare with the textiles in Ipek.

One caveat: The essays are well researched and have interesting themes, but are as dry as July in Tucson.

A must for any textile lover
This is an outstanding book, an art object by itself and a serious scientific monography on Ottoman silk textiles of XVI to XVIII cent. CAUTION : no carpets, kilims or embroidery !Marvellous full-page color photos of about 150 silk specimens from the leading world collections plus many more b/w photos; all with descriptions. Very nice text, easy to read by non-professionals : history of Ottoman silk production, techniques, trade, history etc. etc. The only book matching the high standard of the " Ipek" seems to me " Seidengewebe des XVII jahrhunderts : Bizarre Seiden " by H.Ch. Ackermenn, Abegg_Stiftung, Bern, Switzerland.
The IPEK book is a jewel in my collection of textile books. I recommend it, the only flaw is that it does not show vestments or costumes in full, only close-ups.

Italian Fun

Average review score:

Great for the young learner.
This book is easy for your youngster - ages 4 - 9 - to learn Italian. Good Instruction Book.

E molto divertente!
We had an informal Italian class for a small group of children in my home this past summer. This book provided hours of fun and games for the kids. It had great ideas to keep the children interested as they traded an afternoon at the local pool for an afternoon learning a foreign language. The price is a bargain and it gave me lots of great ideas. The games reinforce the basics and we'll be using them again and again throughout future classes. For this price, I'd buy two!! Ciao tutti!!!
