best for gays with nature tastes!
I am gay and I found in this guide very valuable tips for gays who wants to meet nice people and visit the best gay places : restaurants, beaches, clothes, etc. and also it suggested me the best diving places in Acapulco and It was alot of fun. I had another guide but only in this one I learnt a lot about Acapulco history and arquelogical sites (I love arqueology too). The recommendations of typical restaurants are also great: good, clean and cheap. Well, enjoy it!

Adolescents With Down Syndrome: Toward a More Fulfilling Lif
I decided to read this book for a class I'm taking on the psychology of exceptional children. The book met all of the requirements made by my professor, and was written on a subject that I am very interested in. After reading the book and writing a review for my class, I can say that this book is a wonderful book for parents, educators, and professionals to read. I gained so much knowledge about working with adolescents who have Down syndrome as well as adolescents who do not have disabilities. I am currently in college working on my B.A. in special education, and I have four children. Three of my children are adolescents, and two of them have learning disabilities. Due to my experience as a parent and a student majoring in special education, I can say that I learned more than I thought I would just from reading the title of this book. Before I read the book, I thought I would finish school and work with young children who have mental retardation, now I know that I want to work with children of all ages. I would also like to have my home open to individuals who have Down syndrome and would like to live away from their parents home. I would like to set up an apartment within my home, so a person with Down syndrome could live there and be able to receive help from me if and when they need it. By reading this book, I now know of so many different ways in which I can help individuals with Down syndrome. I am very excited to get started with my career, but more than that, I am ready to be involved in the lives of individuals who have Down syndrome. I checked this book out from the library, but I want to buy it for myself, so I can go back to it as a reference when I need it. I encourage anyone who is interested in working with adolescents with Down syndrome, parents who have children with Down syndrome, educators (both regular and special), and health care professionals to read this book. You will be glad that you took the time to find out more about these special individuals.

The Adventures of Connie and Diego

a wonderful book for children who don't feel that they "fit"
This colorfully illustrated book, written about twins, Connie and Diego, is a "must" for young children. The illustrator creatively portrays the main characters as having skin that is made up of many colors-the twins don't feel that they belong in their family or community because they "look" different. Their friends make fun of them, and the twins run away. They encounter many different looking animals of different colors on their journey. Connie and Diego never are able to find anyone or anything that look just like them. A tiger is able to make them realize that they are humans, regardless of their color, they are valuable to each other because of WHO they are-not because of what COLOR they are. A wonderful story for all youngsters!

Wonderfully written...
Was hesitant to read this book ... thinking it would be simplistic. Not at all. This former Peace Corps volunteer, who died in an airplane crash in Ethiopia while heading Congressional delegation led my Mickey Leland, writes wonderfully, shares insights about Africa and about living in countries that are not your own, and describes scenes that leave lasting images in your mind.

Simple, engaging pictures, cute examples, facinate 9 mo. old
This was a surprise hit with our (then) 8-month-old. Still a favorite at one year. (He turns the pages, I read.) The pictures are very simple but engaging. The example sentences are loaded with the letter being demonstrated- ("Tomas toma te.") and each page includes additional vocabulary ("Can you find..."). He will gladly page through "Albertina..." when he hasn't the patience for "Dr. Seuss's ABC".

The 29 letters covered include "ll", "n~" and "rr", as well as "w" which a note explains is not actually needed for Spanish, but used for foriegn words, such as William.

Probably works in English too, and the English translation is provided on the right-hand side of each page. I rate it 9 out of 10 because of the simplicity of the art- not stylish, just simple. Paper or felt cut-outs. The text is a 10. Recomended!

Alfonso X and the Cantigas De Santa Maria: A Poetic Biography (Medieval Mediterranean, Vol 16)
Published in Hardcover by Brill Academic Publishers (1998)
Author: Joseph F. O'Callaghan
Amazon base price: $122.00

Fascinating
O'Callaghan's study was a Godsend to scholarly aficionados of the Cantigas. With his well-documented and readable style, he validates this enchanting set of manuscripts as a historical source. Amplifying his reading with more conventional primary sources, he presents an entertaining and focused biography of one of Spain's most interesting monarchs. The plates, although in black-and-white, are extremely useful -- one could only wish there were more of them, for the price!

A great resource for students of politics
The increasingly prominent role of women in politcs is clearly demonstrated by the 13 women who currently occupy seats in the U.S. Senate (2001). Earnshaw presents a balanced and comprehensive represention of many of such women through their speeches. When I first read the book it was a great resource for me in better understanding the then recent '92 elections, "the year of the women." This was seminal moment in our recognition that women and their causes must understood, or at least empathized with. Ignore them at your peril, like it or not, was the unequivocal message. The unusually high number of conservative women elected in 1994, though not part of the book, further confirmed the trend of women as political leaders of both parties and not just issue activists. Women political leaders, then and now, emcompass the entire range of ideology and the book demonstrates this as well. I highly recommend the book for anyone looking for a greater understanding of the background of notable women in politics.
