Authoritative
What a pity this is out of print. It is the best cookery book I've ever owned. Most of the recipes are rather complicated and time-consuming. But if one simply trusts Mr Singh unquestioningly and religiously follows every step of his extremely clear instructions something astonishing and utterly delicious results every time. Not most of the time, but every time. If you love Indian food go out of your way to get your hands on a used copy.

good overview of web-based data warehousing
Solid, current book on architecture, data marts, OLAP, metadata and DBMS choices, with strong emphasis on Web and intranet development and emerging standards. Could have included more vendor material for ETL & OLAP tools. Good textbook and reference in a fast-changing field.
Intermediate Set Theory

Good textbook
This is a clearly written and well-organized textbook by Drake and Singh, treating elementary (albeit axiomatic) set theory for students having some familiarity with naive set theory and elementary logic. The book is demanding but clear. A good background would be provided by reading Halmos's NST and the first few chapters of ML by Ebbinghaus et al. The topics treated here are well-chosen, and even exciting "modern" developments are glimpsed -- such as forcing, boolean-valued models, large cardinals etc.
In short, this is a very good textbook suitable as an introduction to set theory for mathematics students.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!
Le Monde Diplomatique wrote about this book
"Poetic, mystical, metaphysical, humorous,
erotic, erratic, this book is all (of that)....
a complete portrait of India". I totally agree!
I found this book in a tiny bookstore in Ooty,
Tamil Nadu in India and since then I've read it
over and over again. It's an absolutely brilliant
book! A fantastically well written story and it
once changed my life

Shakti Parwha Kaur has done it again!
Kundalini Postures and Poetry is unquestionably the
best illustration of living, breathing, moving Kundalini Yoga for modern times. The photos of a living Master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan, immediately inspired my desire to practice. And I am a yoga teacher of more than 30 years! Still, I put the book down just to do some of the postures; Kundalini Postures and Poetry is that compelling and beautiful. The verses elegantly compliment and expand the photos and deepen one's understanding and sense of sacredness of the yoga. The book is truly wonderful. I recommend it for beginning and seasoned Yoga practitioners alike. Both will gain from it.

I found Kundalini Postures and Poetry to be an exemplary emissary of Yogi Bhajan and his teachings. The book has that effect. Shakti Parwha Kaur, you have done it again! Thank you.

A Great Intro to a Fascinating Buddhist Community.
Whether one is interested in actively making the journey to the Buddhist community of Ladakh or simply understanding more about this unique Indo-Himalayan crossroads community from a historian's distance, Neetu Singh's book is invaluable. For the benefit of the traveler, the author covers everything from the essentials for packing, dietary intake and lodging, to basic mannerisms, and cultural customs, & key sites to visit including a whole chapter dedicated to Ladakh's monasteries.
For the exoticist page-scanner, details of everyday life--religious, culinary, etc.--are brought to life, not merely by the author's full yet untedious descriptions, but rather also by the well-chosen color shots which add vitality to every page, by far the best I've ever seen, and obviously so, since it usually takes one who, like the author, has lived in an area long enough to understand the ways of all its aspects of its daily life, to have the opportunity to gracefully capture the photographic and anecdotal elements which form an accurate and complete picture.
Major sporting events and festivals are given in full account, so visitors know which ones to attend--such as polo matches, archery contests as many religious dance festivals--as well as which ones not to attend--such as the inter-village Brokpa free-love festival, in which tourists are obviously not encouraged to take part, since the festival's purpose is to perpetuate the lineage of certain tribes whose ever-dwindling population makes every infertile marriage a clan-threatening concern.
Even those acquainted with further religious and cultural studies will find such photography and conciseness useful and rewarding. For most, nonetheless, this book should suffice as a beginning, middle and end to all general, pre-travel/cultural-study/exoticist reading, or at least to have a more attractive coffee table piece.

Save That Tiger! Ecology in India ---
This fascinating book is primarily a message of conservation, of the importance of saving the large predators for the environmental health of the planet. Arjan Singh was recognized internationally as one of India's major conservationists. He maintained a farm in Uttar Pradesh called Tiger Haven, where he successfully raised big cats and returned them to the wild. The first section of the book is autobiographical, telling the story of Singh's evolution from a sport hunter to a conservationist. Following this, he refutes an entire gamut of misconceptions concerning the great predators, which have been used to justify the wanton destruction of the big cats, particularly the tiger. He illustrates his arguments with case histories of some tigers he has known; animals that took to hunting humans only under extreme pressure and entirely because of human interference in tiger habitats. Very entertaining as well as thought provoking!
