EXCELLENT!!!
I have been researching the discrimination faced by the Aboriginal people for several years. Until I found this book, I'd never seen any book that I thought accurately portrayed the situation. The book is excellent. It contains general information about important issues and has very detailed sections for each state/territory. It is a necessity for anyone interested in the Aboriginal history and culture!

An Excellent Travel Companion
This guidebook by the Lonely Planet was an excellent companion on my recent trip to India. The information was up-to-date and informative, yet never too wordy or boring. The "text-box" inserts were very entertaining while at the same time useful.

This guide is perfect for those traveling on a budget or those who want to take a "first-class" trip across northern India.

The maps in the book are very useful, as is the information about how not to get ripped off as a tourist. Highly recommended to everyone (of Indian origin or not) if you are contemplating a trip to India.

Excepcional !!!

Splendid Tale About A Forgotten 19th Century Plot
"The Maharajah's Box" reads as well as any splendid mystery written by the likes of Agatha Christie or P. D. James. But best of all, it is a gripping account of a forgotten plot in 19th Century British history, which had widespread reprecussions for Great Britain's relations with both France and Russia. Campbell does an admirable job recounting the sordid tale of Maharajah Duleep Singh, the last king of Lahore, in what is now Pakistan and northwestern India, and his feeble, almost comical, attempts at regaining his throne. Along the way we meet an intriguing, often bizarre, cast of Indian spies, Russian politicans and soldiers and Irish revolutionaries. If you're interested in a true story of political intrigue, this is one tome which shouldn't be missed!

An excellent teaching (and learning) tool
This is a wonderful combination of some simple chemistry experiments that allow students (such as myself) to gain insight into the experimental world of inorganic chemistry. The laboratory experiments are real, interesting, and also allow the student to think about what is happening, and to apply their knowledge to taking the experiments to a further level. This is an excellent book, and probably the best source available for inorganic experiments for undergrads.

The User's Guide to Your Mind and Life through Meditation
This book is for those who want to understand and use meditation to develop and transform themselves. It has over 42 meditations coded to every aspect of the mind in our personality. It discusses the three basic minds, postive, negative and neutral. It links these to the inherited mind. It then classifies all the facets and projections that compose the automatic functions of our mind.

It is the only book on Meditation that de-codes classical eastern thinking into a useable form for western psychology. It is like a Physician's Desk Reference for the average person.

Deep and thorough. No fluff here. When you are all done, you will never again ignore the need to conquer your mind so you can conquer your world.

As the co-author I can only tell you that thirty years of study with Yogi Bhajan, a master of meditation, has resulted in this book which is a foundation for the future of meditation to refine awareness and elevate the quality of your life.

It breaks the myth of meditation as simply sitting, as passive or as having only one form. If you like this and like to move, see "Breathwalk" for the art of walking meditation.

Multicultural Counseling: Contest, Theory and Practice, and Competence

Multicultural Counseling
Review of Multicultural Counseling: Context, Theory and Practice, and Competence, edited by Jerry Trusty, Eugenie Joan Looby, and Daya Sandhu.

This book was designed as a text for counseling students, and I found it useful for that purpose. Each chapter includes case examples to show how theories and models of counseling are applied to clients. Also, at the end of each chapter, experiential activities for classes and small groups are included. In general, the case examples and activities are appropriate and some are very creative.

Overall, the text is comprehensive, well-organized, and current. Regarding comprehensiveness, the book is structured to address the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accreditation standards, including chapters on areas not covered by some multicultural texts, such as spirituality, GLBT counseling, and counseling people with disabilities. In particular, the identity development chapter is very comprehensive as compared to most multicultural texts, covering various models for several diverse groups. Regarding organization, the chapters flow in logical sequence, avoiding many of the problems common to edited books. The chapters are more general rather than esoteric in focus, making the text most appropriate for master's-level counseling students.

Several current and emerging issues and areas are included in the book. For example, in the chapter on spirituality, a new model of spiritual identity development is presented, and the identity development chapter covers material on Biracial identity development. Several chapters are written by authors who are well-established and recognized in their specific areas. There is no chapter specifically on multicultural assessment; however, this topic is covered in several chapters.

The book has a very detailed index, easy-to-read print, and is of manageable size. I strongly recommend it as a text for introductory, master's-level counseling courses.
