Delivering Health Care in America: A Systems Approach

Good introduction to the American health care system
The book is a good basic introduction to the American health care system. If you are doing advanced health policy research this book is not for you. If you are teaching a class for undergraduates (or are someone who wants to know about 'nuts and bolts' issues) this would be perfect. For what it does (basic intro), it does well but do not look for sophisticated analysis here.

Forgiveness
I could not forgive or even understand the word. This has helped me to identify with the word forgiveness, especially in this day when life is so rushy and have no time to concentrate on this subject. It has helped to lead on the road to a more peaceful mind. Try it.

Gatka : as taught by Nanak Dev Singh Khalsa
Published in Unknown Binding by GT International ()
Author: Nanak Dev Singh Khalsa
Amazon base price: $
Used price: $131.29
Average review score:

Good text that is practical & has a grasp of the arts spirit
A good basic text on the Sikh martial art of Gatka. Weapon-based with fluid, dance-like moves. Has a lot in common with Escrima (Philippines). Includes a wealth of B&W photos. The only problem I have with the work is the New Age overtones in the opening section. On the whole a good look into the art of Gatka.

Good book with improvements needed.
This book is a must for anyone who is involved in various Food Engineering Unit Operations. Its knowledge spans a variety of basic processes all food engineers need to know, including material/ energy balance, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, and kinetics of foods; and the advances that food engineers need to know. These advances include Clean-In-Place (CIP), Process Economics, and Process Controls, along with various Aspetic Processing/ Sterilization methods. Several things missing in this book that should be included are biochemical/ environmental engineering, food frying (Snack chips, poultry, etc.), food materials handling, and additional items that support the food process (Utilites, construction, and layout). Kudos to Drs. Valentis, Rotstein, and Singh on their efforts to create this fine book

Handbook of Modern Analytical Instruments
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill/TAB Electronics (1981)
Author: Raghbir Singh, Khandpur
Amazon base price: $29.95
Average review score:

A real handbook
A very good handbook for scientists and engineers, especially for maintenance engineers like me. The range of topics covered encompasses almost all analytical instruments. It explains the basics of various techniques used in analytical instruments with plenty of illustrations. The functional block approach is adopted to explain the systems. However, people interested in more detailed theory of physical phenomena may have to refer to other books on physics. Overall its an excellent guide for scientists and engineers about the whole range of analytical instruments.

Helps one suck
For a mere 160 dollars, I'll never be excited by anything, ever again. Perhaps later in life, when it really becomes important for me to build my own vacuum cleaner, McGyver style, this will be a cherished memory of mine.

After all, buy a man a vacuum cleaner, his carpets will be clean for six or seven years. Teach a man to build a vacuum cleaner from really expensive, specially ordered components, his carpets will be clean for life.

History of the Christian Missions in Manipur and Neighbouring States
Published in Hardcover by South Asia Books (1991)
Authors: K.M. Singh and Karama Manimohana Simha
Amazon base price: $32.00
Used price: $16.50
Average review score:

Best Book on the History of Christianity in Manipur
This book presents several well-researched documents and archives from Imphal, New Delhi and London Libraries, some of which were never published before. The resources are full of insights into how the then British Political agents, the Maharaja and his Darbar in Manipur and the Christian Missanaries try to influence their own interests among the citizens of Manipur, both the plain and hill people. The historical accounts are vivid and well balanced. The English language is very good and fewer printing mistakes compared to many other books published on Manipur by Indian Press and Publishers. This book also provides a historical background of Manipur, and is a must for those scholars and historians who are interested in Manipur studies and the arrival of Christianity in the state.

Good introduction for the curious!
If you are curious about the benefits of yoga, this book is a wonderful introduction. Yoga, which at first seems foreign and odd to many, is made clear and easy to understand here.

Try the exercises! If you start with 15 minutes at a time of the powerful exercises in this book, you will notice dramatic and wide-ranging benefits including a more balanced temperament, more self-discipline, and greater willpower. Dedicated practice is said by some to even empower the yogi (student) to ease pain and cure illness!

For those who feel self-conscious about taking a class but want to learn about this serene, healthful practice, this book will be wonderful and inspiring.

And do the exercises! They work!
