An excellent anthology!
I recommend this book to anyone interested in poetry. In Five Seventeenth-Century Poets: Donne, Herbert, Crashaw, Marvell, Vaughan, the author addresses metaphysical poetry. Brijraj Singh took a subject that I have often found cryptic and explained it exquisitely. His historical background on the poets and annotated poems put this beautiful poetry into a context that was easy to comprehend. Upon finishing the book, I have a greater understanding and appreciation of 17th century poetry. Mr. Singh wrote a superlative book!

ANOTHER AWARD WINNER! A MUST-HAVE for R&D labs and libraries
The Handbook of Advanced Electronic and Photonic Materials and Devices is among the most imformative and authorative handbooks on advanced electronic and photonic materials and devices. In fact, it is the very FIRST handbook ever published on Electronic and Photonic Materials and Devices! It contains extremely up-to-date reference work on past two decades of pioneering research in both novel materials and devices; it covers the synthesis, processing, fabrication, characterization, spectroscopy, physical properties and device applications of electronic and photonic materials. In all, it contains over 100 state-of-the-art review chapters written by more than 200 world-leading experts from 25 different countries. As a chief technologist and a practicing engineer working in a R&D lab for a multi-national, multi-billion-dollar-strong semiconductor IC company, I regard this handbook as extremely useful since nowadays the difficulties in developing state-of-the-art sub-0.13 micron CMOS processes & devices are almost ALWAYS associated with the material properties of Si! I have found the Vol. 2 of this handbook to be particularly interesting and useful, as the studies and the reviews on the research on the advancement of material science become critically important and valuble for practical engineers (E.E. or Ch.E).

Since Dr. Nalwa's previous handbook that was published last year on "Handbook of Nanostructured Materials and Nanotechnology" received 1999 Award of Excellence in Engineering Handbooks from the Association of American Publishers, I have high hope that this set of handbook on Advanced Electronic and Photonic Materials and Devices will also be a big award-winner! This book is a must-have for R&D labs and universities libraries.

The house of Marwar
The House of Marwar is an excellent read for anyone interested in Rajput history, traditions and mind-sets. The book focuses on the lineage of Maharajas of Jodhpur (Marwar) from their humble beginnings, to the epoch of their power and to their eventual submission and absorption into modern India. The book is very easy to follow and one gains a personal level of understanding as the book describes the very core of each ruler. Mr. Singh has created a monumental history book that exceeds the characteristics of just another history book...he sheds ample light on Rajput beliefs and customs and focuses on both the accomplishments and excesses that made them a force to be reckoned with and eventually ties it in with their unwilling garnishment of power to a modern india. I loved the book and am positive anyone else reading the book will feel the same...

Comments that bring the Scriptures alive
In terms of Scriptures, the Sikhs possess something better than our Bible, the Guru Granth Sahib, assembled by Guru Arjan (5th Guru), who collected the writings of all true realized souls of His time or before Him. It is better because it has been transmitted exactly as is and this Sum of devotional Poetry is still available in Gurmukhi today, even on the net. What the great Saint and poet Sant Ajaib Singh Ji does in this collection of talks is to refresh and explain the Holy Teachings of all those past Masters (here mainly through the Vars, a series of verse of Guru Nanak, the first Guru) and to bring them alive again for a modern audience. A most valuable source for true seekers of God, and for all interested in religous poetry and the unity of religions.

A Must-Read/Exceptional Memoir of a Civil Servant
This book eloquently describes the events of Burma immediately after independence. The account here is vivid and captivating! The book is essential to understanding political events in Burma and reflects similar conditions in other newly independent countries. A must read for those interested in the history of Burma after independence!! And to any interested in learning more about a resilient society and post-colonial struggles. Everyone from authors researching this period to those who have never read anything about Burma will be SHOCKED by the story of this small district which reflects the situation of the entire country.

It is surprising to know that the government vanished in a single day!! The rebellion by various creeds brought Burma almost to dismemberment. The book shows the suffering of the Burmese people from both the insurgents and the government officials who attempted to establish normalcy.
