Delightfully entertaining!
This book is a beautifully illistrated, delight! We are looking forward to owning it. No wonder it is out of print. I think that it is one of the best children's books that I have read in years. Imaginative and lovely.

Righteous poetic justice with a knee-slappin' beat.
This is a fun to read story where good wins over evil and the 90's version of the damsal in distess makes all women (young and old) proud. As the story-teller at our local library I find this book to be an excellent attention getter and one that children love to clap or tap to. The illustrations compliment the pounding poetry and endear you to this book. This book is just like those potato chips, "you can't just read it once."

Witty children's book in verse with colorful, humorous illus
This is a great book for children of all ages. The littlest ones are engaged by the wonderful illustrations and catchy story, the early readers are helped by the easy rhyming patterns and even the older readers will find something new in the illustrations each reading. There are strong male and female role models, a clear moral concerning the dangers of cussing, and brief, funny quattrains with vivid illustrations that bring this "swamp town" to life. You've got to get this book if you have a child between the ages of 1 and 12. It will become an instant favorite.

An indispensable complement to Story of a Soul
"Story of a Life," by Monseigneur Guy Gaucher, OCD, general editor of the critical edition of St. Therese's writings and auxiliary bishop of Bayeux and Lisieux, is a powerful framework for Therese's own "Story of a Soul." She writes, "It is not my life properly so-called that I am going to write; it is my thoughts on the graces God has granted to me." Bishop Gaucher tells, as much as possible, what Therese left untold. His astonishing expertise and understanding of Therese, his passionate attention to chronology, and his attention to detail create a framework for Therese's own writings. The more you love St. Therese, the more you will love this book. Also an excellent guide for persons or groups wanting to work through her life chronologically; one could use this book as a framework for the study of her writings. We are extremely fortunate the book is available in English.

Leads to a better understanding of her autobiography
I read the autobiography of St. Therese last year. After reading this book, I have a much fuller understanding of her "Little Way." It also helped me to better follow the chronology of her life. The author integrates her words with his own to help us bring together these two wonderful works. Highly recommended for anyone who loves this Saint.

The definitive biography of St. Therese
This book, written by perhaps "the" foremost authority on St. Therese of Lisieux, is a "must read" for anyone interested in the life and spirituality of St. Therese. It provides invaluable information about the life of this Saint and about her relationships with her parents and sisters. In addition, the book provides critical insight into daily life at the Lisieux Carmel during the time of St. Therese. Highly recommended for a fuller understanding of this Doctor of the Church.

Another Kliban book: Never Eat Anything Bigger Than Your Head, contains my all time fav: Genghis & Sylvia Khan, Genghis show with his arm around his wife, who's dressed in a pants suit, fashion glasses, and big hair.

This book is great....and sporatically go over through it again and again taking the quizzes to see how i have changed since the last time i took them.

It had 6 different sections. the first section is called all about guys, love, & dating. The second one is called all about friendship. The third one is all about the inner you. The fourth is all about the outer you. The fifth is all about school and the sixth is all about your family and home.

A Book Every Homeowner Should Have
If you own property in urban, suburban or rural settings, you should have this book. It's the definitive guide to understanding wildlife, common diseases, and problems they may cause, and how to effectively solve them.

The first few chapters explain how to prevent and identify wildlife problems - and the right questions you should ask before hiring a professional to help you. The book also explains what methods work - and ones that don't - to save you money. The most humane and effective methods are clearly explained.

The next 31 chapters each deal with specific animals: bats, crows, deer, mice, moles, pigeons, snakes, etc.

The definitive guidline to living with wildlife
This is an excellent description of methods and techniques to use for the most commonly-considered "nuisance" species of wildlife. John Hadidian, the author, is both a wildlife enthusiast and a gardener, and he has edited a very balanced set of explanations on how to discourage wildlife when it has become a problem for a homeowner. The solutions are humane and can leave the homeowner proud that the situation was resolved peacefully. I ran a wildlife hotline with 50 volunteers frequently dealing with the public on these very issues, and this book was the reference the volunteers found most helpful.

Fantastic
One of the most comprehensive wildlife books to date. Really gives a good inside look into urban wildlife problems and how to deal with them in a humane manner that even a novice could follow

Retro Barbecue
I thought Retro Barbecue was a phenominal book. I highly recomend it to any outdoor griller. I though I ws savvy on the grill, but having this book handy really made a significant difference in how my food turned out. Thank you Linda Everett for teaching even me a thing or two on the grill

Retro Barbecue - So Much Fun!!
Like the title mentioned, this book is so much fun! From the visually stunning colors and wonderful combinations, to the layout per page and the placement of every illustration, everything is just a pleasure to see.

I have been through this book and am always amazed and how much I like it, every time. I am especially fond of the trivia and other tidbits on the pages that has to do with the time period, not necessarily cooking.

The photos and illustrations of cooking utensils and other apparel are very fun! Of course, the recipes where one would use said utensils are also wonderful. I am hoping to try them all.

Overall, I enjoy the images, color and of course the recipes very much. This is a great addition to any cookbook set and is fun just to have out for everyone to see.

Relief from California Cuisine
"Retro Barbecue" by Linda Everett is a refreshing return to the era when few knew (and no one cared) about cholesterol, saturated fat and salt and big hunks of meat were the measure of a mother's love for family and friends. Not that we shouldn't eat a healthy diet, but there is something satisfying about revisiting an era where things really tasted good and when portions covered the plate. The book's pictures remind us that the backyard barbecue was the first serious foray of the average man into cooking and also illustrate the diversity of barbecue grills and fireplaces that predated today's expensive, stainless steel fabrications of ..., ... etc.

I found the recipes quite excellent and wide-ranging. One trying to recreate the backyard feast of their childhood should easily be able to do so with the broad range of side dishes and meats described. Watch your sodium intake for a week, check your blood pressure then indulge in a bit of comfort food that most of us would find far more satisfying than the small and expensive entree in our local gourmet restaurant.

The Right Way Of Living
Published in Paperback by Dr. Guy Ferru (01 June, 2001)
Authors: Guy Ferru and Dr. Guy Ferru
Amazon base price: $12.00
Used price: $7.95

very useful overview
In this small book Dr. Ferru gives a short overview of the essentials of living the right way. Perfect health depends on drinking water, taking the right fats, the right food combinations with the right nutrition, the right environment (feng shui and no electromagnetic fields) and a lot more. Things you will often neglect or forget (colors, breathing the right way etc..). Dr. Ferru has brought all possible subjects just into this little book to remind you what to do to live the right way. Just a pitty that he has kept most chapters so very short (with the big print the book is most readable and understandable for the layman, but I was hungry for more).

A must-read...
Wonderful guide on natural health, this book contains the essentials we need to know about healthy living. It should be in every home. A must-read for every mother raising a family.

Breath of fresh air
In this era of overinformation we are bombarded with too many health books. Dr. Ferru's book "The Right Way of Living" makes a difference because it synthesizes the wisdom and science of different cultures covering all aspects of health: spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and environmental. For the above reasons, I strongly recommend his book.

Totally different but totally good
First of all let me say that people who are looking for a title themed like Neil Gaimans Sandman, this book is not it. This title ties in a little bit every now and then but that's it for comparisation, it's a totally different ball-park, a totally different sort of comic. What this is is a very fine (non-supernatural) detective story (this particular book collects #1-4, the complete "Tarantula" story-arc) based around "The Sandman", a revamped character from the early days of DC. The Sandman is a guy with a secret identity dressed in a John Constatine coat, an Al Capone hat, a gasmask and a gaspistol, who acts as a secret detective and tries to solve crimes his way.

About the story: An anonymous kidnapper who calls himself 'The Tarantula, is on the loose and he claims his vistims rapidly. He shows to be extremely violent and not fearing any act of brutality to show he's meaning business in getting what he wants. The police are without a clue and don't know where to start. And does the Tarantula really pick his victims so randomly ? Meanwhile the commisioners daughter has taken an interest in a young man named Wesley Dodds who seems remarkably interested in the case, and there's also the mystery of the man who's going all over town wearing a gasmask and carying a gaspistol, attacking people who seem possibly related to the Tarantula.

Like I said, it's not a Gaiman's Sandman type of book but more of a detective book set in a time about 60 years back. While reading it you'll really get the feeling you're watching a police detective series on TV. People who enjoy titles like Sin City and possibly even Top Ten lovers (provided they don't have a problem with this book not involving characters that aren't out of the ordinary) will have a very good time with it. It's a complex story which requires some attention while reading but it's very much worth it in the end. Try it out sometimes because the fact this book was never a big hit doesn't say anything about it's quality.

If Raymond Chandler wrote comics....
I think he would have come up with this character. The Sandman was always, amongst the Golden Age heroes, something of an anamoly - when others dressed in brightly colored spandex, the Sandman wore a gas mask, business suit, fedora, & cape. Matt Wagner & Guy Davis come up with one of the most unique "re-inventions" of the character, creating a horrific image straight out of WWI (with an appropriate gas mask) and putting a unique hero amongst a word where corruption and prestige walk hand in hand. This arc - which may or may not be a "rewriting" of a Golden Age classic (the Tarantula was, believe it or not, the Sandman's first foe) also has the trademarks of classic pulp fiction, including the seedy goings-on of a prominent family, a kidnapping, several murders....

OK, this proves that comics aren't just for adults, and personally, I wish they would release more graphic novels (including the "Man of the Hour" arc, which had a unique take on Hourman). However, let this be your introduction into a unique series that, although never was a million seller, had a charm all its own.

The "other" Sandman, but just as good!
Sure, Neil Gaiman's Sandman gets all the praise, but I prefer Matt Wagner's version of the Golden Age Sandman, which is modified to tie in loosely with Gaiman's stories. This wonderful series ended several years ago, and DC/Vertigo is hesitant to collect the story arcs, for some unknown reason. Thankfully, they at least released "The Tarantula", issues 1-4, for our reading and viewing pleasure. This book adequately sets up the series, fleshing out Wesley Dodds and the supporting characters as has never been done before. Guy Davis' artwork is beautiful, understated, and is the perfect match for Wagner's story. Don't let the fact that this series is "noirish" keep you away (this is no paper-thin Sin City). The story has depth and feeling, and enough plot to warrant multiple reads.

"T&D Systems View" Review, May 22, 2002
T&D Systems View makes a lot of information available for both the experienced training professional or those new to the field. The focus of the book is on enhancing an organization's training and development system while improving bottom-line results.

The "twelve hour clock" serves as a performance aid to guide the reader through headings for each hour that make up the 12 systems that contain the 47 processes of the overall corporate training and development system. The 12 systems are:
1.Strategic Planning
2.Operations Planning and Management
3.Cost/Benefit measurement
4.Process Improvement
5.Product and Service Line Design
6.Product and Service Line development
7.Product and Service Line Deployment
8.Marketing and Communications
9.Financial asset Management
10.Human and Environmental Asset Management
11.Research and Development
12.Governance and Advisory

What follows the descriptions of 12 training and development systems and the 47 related processes is an incredibly useful 48 page performance aid that guides readers in conducting self-assessments of their organization's systems. This performance aid is "worth the price of admission" alone.
