A MUST!
I ORDER ONE OF THESE EVERY YEAR JUST FOR THE BEAUTIFUL
PICTURES! I HOPE THEY NEVER END!
SHARYN WHITING

More Beautiful Than Ever!
I just purchased the new French Country Diary for 2003 -- actually I bought four since I give them as gifts and my bookstore quickly runs out -- and it is fabulous. I buy them every year. Every page transports me to beautiful corners of the French countryside -- to gardens, houses, inns, great little museums. The design is great, with little bits of fabric patterns at the top of the date pages matched to the colors in the photos on the opposite page. It comes in a pretty slipcase so it makes a really nice presentation. I leave it open on my kitchen bookshelf and it draws a lot of admirers. I save them from year to year because they look so attractive on the shelf.
I hope they continue for many more years! Merci!

Great Gangster Tour Guide
Hollatz has assembled an absolutely delightful collection of photos, guides to Little Bohemia and the other retreats, and wonderful, if only occasionally questionable, local anecdotes on Al Capone, Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Roger Touhy and all the classic bad guys of the good ole days who vacationed in Wisconsin. A rat-a-tat must-have for fans of the classic Midwest gangsters of the '20's and '30's.

Gangster Holiday's, The Lore and the legend of the bad guys
Tom Hollatz' book "Gangster Holiday's, The Lore and the legend of the bad guys" is on the top of my list. Gangster Holiday's brings out the facts on Gangsters and their many visits to the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. I give this book 5 stars and a Rat-a-tat-tat from a Thompson Machinegun. Great book!

You don't use GURPS rules? Get it anyway!
Personally, I've never been able to get into the GURPS rules, but I have a pretty big GURPS collection for someone who doesn't use GURPS! "Goblins" is one of the jewels of that collection, and I'm already planning out a fantasy campaign (using a modified old GURPS Fantasy setting and the rules from Godlike), with the goblins from this supplement playing a big role.

GURPS Goblins is surprisingly inexpensive for a book printed throughout on slick paper with (hilarious) full-color illustrations. The society and biology of the goblins (which are seamlessly tied together) are fascinating as well as funny--these may vaguely resemble the standard fantasy RPG goblins, but they stand out as one of the most unique races to be developed for any setting, fantasy or science fiction. The style of writing is less that of a game supplement and more of a travel guide to 1830s London--except there are no humans, just goblins! It's a very entertaining commentary on human nature, using the goblins to soften the blow a bit. And it's a game-within-a-game, as the whole point of goblin existence is to climb socially (due to their biology, virtually all goblins start in the gutter, no matter who their parents were), so there are very full setting-specific rules for social climbing that can be applied to other settings.

GURPS Goblins is great
Summary: GURPS Goblins is an excellent, original, highly amusing but VERY 'off the wall' RPG. Firstly, it necessary to explain that Goblins is not a stand alone fiction or non-fiction book (although Goblins makes a good read even if you don't get a chance to play it). Goblins is a supplement to the GURPS role-playing game (RPG), so to play it you will first need to but the GURPS basic set (GURPS stand for Generic Universal Role Playing System). In RPG's, players create a character, and go on an adventure created for them by the 'Games Master'. Mostly, these would involve fighting mythical monsters, and finding treasures, in some mystical universe. However, in GURPS Goblins the universe is Georgian London. It's a hard unforgiving place; a world of grinding poverty, harsh laws, disease, superstition and snobbery. The monsters are other Goblins. Lies, trickery, violence and theft are the norm. Social climbing is the pre-occupation of every Goblin. Sadly, much of this world is a true reflection of the social conditions of the time. Goblins is extremely funny, in a very nasty sort of way, along the same lines as the RPG 'Paranoia'. But where Paranioa pokes fun at the evils of totalitarianism, the target of is the Dickensian class system. It is refreshingly rare for an RPG, to concentrate so much on the character's social context. You design your character, work out his deformities (due to mistreatment in childhood, school and apprenticeship), then bravely set out to climb up the social ladder, armed with only a half-eaten pork-pie and a sixpence between you and the workhouse. If you like 'quirky' role-playing games, then GURPS Goblins is a masterpiece. This is the most orginal, funny and evocative RPG I have bought for a very long time, but, if you like your RPG character to be a tough, dashing, honourable hero type; then but a more traditional RPG would be much more appropriate.

Great advice!
This is a great book. I was a teen not too long ago. This book was a breath of fresh air. The author's tone is perfect throughout the book. She is well-educated but she also speaks to young girls as though she herself is still a teenager. The book covers just about everything a young girl is concerned about. The author gives healthy, practical advice to each question. I highly recommend it. This makes a great Christmas present!

The pictures and the words describe Londolozi beautifully.
I visited Londolozi in 1997. I ordered and received the book almost a year after I returned home. It captured everything I remember from the animals and the landscape to the wonderful people themselves. I am able to pick up the book, now 2 years later, and still get the same feeling.

captures the experience we had at Londolozi beautifully
After visiting Londolozi and purchasing this book there, it was wonderful to learn about the background and evolution of this very unique game reserve from the founding family. This book is a must for those planning a trip to the "bush" as well as for those fortunates that have been to Londolozi or anywhere to share space with the magnificent animals of the transvaal.

Sexy, fun, and so much more!
IT'S A GUY THING, is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Readers who want a sexy, fast-paced read with witty dialogue will not be disappointed, since this book has all that. But it has so much more. I really identified with Cassie as she struggled to be her own person, and rooted for Guy as he tried to show her she could have love without surrendering her sense of self. The scenes between them were hot enough to burn up the pages, but they were also humorous, touching, and quite imaginative. I'll never look at Squabble, foot massage, or chocolate the same! If you want a really great read, give this book a try!

Sizzling! Very highly recommended
Cassie Carmichael plans to surprise her boyfriend at his rented Aspen Creek cabin. After all, things had gone from sizzling to boring, and she figures a little spice should put their relationship to rights. Unfortunately, the surprise is on Cassie when she catches Boring Bob bopping someone else. Outraged and without a place to wait out the snowstorm, Cassie accepts long time friend Guy Walters' offer of a bed at his family condo. Suddenly her long time fantasy is within grasp, if Cassie willing to risk.

Except for himself, the last of the single Bolder Bandidoes, a high school group of sexy hijinks and fun guys, has sent Guy an invitation to his wedding. Perhaps this weekend stranded in the mountains will give Guy the time he needs for introspection. He does not expect Cassie to pick this opportunity to make a long time fantasy into a reality. After one wild weekend, Cassie intends to return to Boulder and revamp to her previous safe, conventional life. She does not realize she has shown Guy what he needs in his life, or expect him to prove that fantasies can come true.

In her first contemporary release, author Cindi Myers can make even a game of Scrabble a sizzling delight in IT'S A GUY THING! Sheer tenacity and fantasy combine in a scintillating tale of new possibilities when Cassie drops her cheating boyfriend and eventually learns how extraordinary she truly can be. Guy will find convincing her challenge, however, if he wants to play for keeps. Their dynamic relationship will keep readers wildly amused in this tender romantic romp. The perfect reading for cold winter afternoon, IT'S A GUY THING comes very highly recommended.

Karate Knife & Weapon Disarms

Pure and simple
I've only trained with Guy a few dozen times over the last few years and from the first practice with him I could start to see lights come on in my practice, and life. Guy studies practical aplication of what we've been practicing for years from prespectives that I'd never seen before. You would do well to read, practice, and understand.

Better than Before
I read Mr. trimble's first effort and enjoyed it very much. His second effort not only did not disappoint me, but proved to be even better. I have a practiced Shotokan karate for over 20 years and had come to accept the standard interpretation of the katas. After reading Mr. Trimble I have an entirely different understanding and look forward to expanding that understanding even more as I delve deeper into the book.
