A well researched and presented account that will inspire
This work by the late Charlotte, N.C., author and philanthropist, Elizabeth S. Smith, presents an inspirational topic that has escaped previous aviation writers. The story of aviator Cochran's achievements, which reflect her determined character and desire to succeed, are highly readable, and energizing, to young people. Many 6-9th grade students continue to enjoy and benefit from this book.

A quality book on a little-discussed topic
This book is a solid and powerful resource for Filipina women in abusive relationships. Every battered women's shelter should own this book as it may be the only culturally appropriate resource for the Filipina community on this subject matter. It addresses the subject of domestic violence in an appropriate and empowering manner. Moreover, the author provides the reader with real-life stories of Filipina women who survived domestic violence. There is no other book like this.

warm, useful, helps couples build trust
Boy, did this book come in handy for us! It gave us a framework in which to discuss finances and other touchy subjects productively. We were both mid-life and owned property. I had been married before (no children), but my husband never had. We decided to have a legal contract, as well as a personal contract, and this book provided guidelines for creating both. Much as media exposure leads one to think otherwise, the contracting process allowed us to develop a fuller trust of one another by the time we married.

Connie and the Water Babies
Everybody has a fear. Connie is afraid of water. Mum is afraid of a gerbil. Dad is afraid of the dentist. Gran is afraid of the TV and the video-recorder. Everybody needs someone to help them against their fears. I found that the story was ok.

Excellent guide to "local flavour" lodging
This book guided us through our honeymoon trip to the south of England excellently. Not the book if you're expecting 4-star "American-style" hotels, but the perfect book if you're looking for local character and charm. Descriptions are extremely accurate (rare for a guidebook). Drawings of each lodging site were helpful when somewhat lost

JACQUELINE DIAMOND is consistently one of the best humorous romance writers throughout the years! THE COWBOY AND THE SHOTGUN BRIDE is the first of the three books of "The Brides" series for Harlequin American Romance, which includes and A BACHELOR FOR THE BRIDE by Mindy Neff and THE HOG-TIED GROOM. I strongly recommend it!

Excellent book of crafts for kids of all ages.
I run a daycare out of my home and picked this book up at the library. After doing the projects for a couple weeks I HAD to buy it. It contains crafts and food projects that delight my children. It is separated by month and has projects that relate to that month. The instructions are very easy to understand and there are patterns for the cut outs. My kids have loved each and every one of the projects. I give this book 5 stars.

a delicious mystery cozy that will add to the author's fame
In Marin County, California Kate Jasper was attending a scuba diver wedding when human potential guru Sam Skyler, takes an unwanted, but clearly assisted dive off the edge of a cliff. Kate decides to investigate the murder of the rich head of the Skyler Institute for Essential Manifestation. Wayne Caruso, who wants to marry Kate, reluctantly helps his beloved because he wants to protect her from a killer and even more so, from herself. ..... As the couple digs into Sam's past, they run the gauntlet of New Age personas. They also learn that the victim has a problem filled history. However, the worst problem comes from Sam's fanatic followers who want Kate and Wayne to drop the case. The threat do not stop fearless Kate from continuing to investigate. The number of suspects with motives seems overwhelming, but that does not stop Kate from investigating. Wayne's incessant pleading for her to quit fails to stop Kate doing what she believes is her job. Only one thing could ever stop Kate from completing her investigation: a final solution that could only lead either to her death (not a remote possibility when kate is on the job), or identifying and apprehending the killer. ...... The eighth entry in the Kate Jasper series is humorous and charming as it highlights various eccentric characters living in Northern California. Kate is an interesting amateur sleuth and the story line is fun to read. However, fans of the dead-serious who-done-it sub-genre will not enjoy this novel. This book is intended for those readers who enjoy a quirky assortment of secondary characters tied together through a who-done-it that emphasizes the New Age renaissance. Harriet Klausner

Commemorating simple ideas and thoughts, with open honesty
Damage is an impressive collection of brief, free-verse poetry by Jacque Vaught Brogan (Professor of English and American Literature, University of Notre Dame) commemorating simple ideas and thoughts, with an open honesty that offers the refreshing charm of directness in its musings. "My memories of the many Octobers / I have held our love / have been rewritten, / have fallen now like the brown dried leaves / scurrying across dead ground, / as if loss leaves no trace of having happened- / as if damage isn't a slow fire / that continues to smoulder underground."
