Neat!
Summer in the Country is cool! Marie is spending Summer on her cousins farm. The king demands a lot of grain and caterpillars can eat one fourth of the harvest in a few days! because of that, Maries cousins are very poor. She must find a way for her cousins to make money! But how?

Another great Marie book.
This was another great Marie book. It is about the month Marie, her parents, and three sisters spend with relatives in the French countryside.

Marquetry
Published in Hardcover by Getty Trust Pubn (2003)

Outstanding!
I found this book to be completely comprehensive on the subject of marquetry. Everyone who loves this art form will want to have this in their library.

A superb book. Excellent pictures, great explanations.
I have two books of the same author: Masterpieces of marquetry (or something simmilar since it is written in French) and Marquetry. Each of the books cost over 100 USD in France and belong to a collection this author has published on the same subject. The Marquetry book (in English) I believe is the best book of its class. It has very detailed sketches of real antique designs. It not only explains the techniques but also stone inlaying, designing of tools and benches for cutting materials, etc.

A Constant Source of Inspiration
This is an excellent book on the beautiful and inspiring paintings of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. Exceptional value with 88 colour reproductions of his work. The written material is faultless and fascinating. Roerich was dedicated to Beauty and I find that whenever I dip into this book I am completely captivated by his ability to speak to my innermost heart and spirit through the language of colour and the rich symbolism of his paintings. Fascinated by the legends of Shambhala and the wisdom of the ancients, Roerich's paintings and Decter's words take us on a wonderful journey that will enrich our lives. Roerich was a very deeply spiritual man and so his paintings serve this higher purpose. If you wish to light the inner fire of your spirit through art and beauty, then this is the book for you.

A fascinating biograpy with over 80 paintings reproduced.
If you are looking for a book about the life and art of Nicholas Roerich or if you are looking for a fascinating account of a modern mystic, one of the great men of this time, this is it. The book contains over 80 of his paintings, drawings and theatrical set designs. The biographical accounting is fascinating and inspiring. I found this book very enjoyable and highly recommend it. Also suggest checking out the web site of the Nicholas Roerich museum in N.Y. city. Paul Huston

Moments of My Life
The author shared so many of her most private thoughts that I felt I was eavesdropping on her intimate conversations. As I continued to read her poetry I felt I had the invitation to learn more and more about her. She has the amazing ability to communicate so honestly that I now feel we are great friends. What a gifted writer! What a wonderful person!

Inspiring!
I thoroughly enjoyed this inspiring book of poetry by Jacqueline Moore. Her poems touch on a tremendous variety of themes, including love, marriage, parenthood, and spirituality. Perhaps her most startling and impressive poems are the ones that describe her struggle with Parkinson's Disease--the effects it has had on her life and family, and her determination to take advantage of the abilities she still has, instead of focusing on the ones she has lost. I highly recommend this collection of poems, and I look forward to reading further works by this poet.

Scary fun!
This book was so much fun to share with my child. Ms. Rogers pictures were the perfect interpretation of these poems. The poems were so great that my fourth grader chose to recite one in class.

We loved it!
The poems are wonderful and the artwork captivating. My 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter love it and I have not tired of reading it to them. Being an artist myself, I thoroughly enjoy the artist's imagination and her beautiful translation to paper.

Do It Yourself Vegtable Garden
In the true tradition of do it yourself books created by Ortho this has to be its best. The book is geared for both beginners in gardening and the handy do it yourselfer types. Chapters progress you through the steps from site selection and plant selection to harvesting, crop rotating and soil conditioning over winter and indoor greenhouse seed starting. Its an A-Z book and should be the the only reference book (excluding seed catalogs) you really need. The book also contains references to various cultivars within vegtable species and handy suggested cooking guides, so a beginner gardener could not only successfully select and grow well know vegtables, but could also grow and use the odd often hard to find fresh herbs.

Great for cooks too
Beautifully illistrated the book starts with a complete garden guide that includes specifics on everything from choosing a garden site to the correct amount of light and water. Also covered in this section is data concerning soil, seasons, weeds, pests and problems. It then continues with a very comprehensive catalog of vegetables and herbs, each one containing precise straightforward details on planting, harvesting and cooking along with recipes and nutritional facts. Even if you're not interested in growing a garden, every cook should have this book. I use it as a resource when I am trying to choose the correct type of vegetable according to my recipe and taste buds or when looking up unfamiliar herbs that certain recipes may call for. A wealth of information, I use it to quickly and easly find answers to all my questions.

Great blend
This book was a great blend of fact and fiction. Out of Many Waters is the story of a young girl in the Portugese Inquisition. Isobel Ben Lazar and her sister Maria were taken from their home in Portugal to a monastery in Brazil. At the time of the story, Isobel is twelve and Maria is sixteen. When the sisters are chosen to accompany two friars on their journey to Recife, Maria comes up with an escape plan. The sisters are Jewish, and they want to escape to Amsterdam, where they believe their parents are. The sisters board different ships bound for Amsterdam, and this story follows Isobel throughout her journey. Isobel hides under a longboat for several days, until the sailors on the ship discover her. She joins a band of Jewish colonists who are escaping the Inquisition. Though Isobel is a fictional character, the Jewish families she travels with are actual people. This story was a terrific blend of fact and historical fiction, a story of finding your inner self and stepping out to show your true beliefs.

Historical background and great story
"Out of Many Waters" is one of those rare books that combines historical authenticity with a great story. The main character is well-developed and her adventures are exciting. A great read that just happens to be educational!
