There's Nothing to D-O-O-O-
I love the rhyming in this picture book. The theme of children wanting to explore, but realizing home is best is great for the younger children. It contains excellent color illustrations. I highly recommend this one for students from K through the 2nd grade.

Great story, great pictures, a real delight!
"There's Nothing to D-o-o-o" is a wonderful children's picture book. The story is gentle and fun, something children and adults will love. The pictures are terrific and perfectly match the text, adding charm and depth. This book is a delight to read silently and to look at, but will also be a delight to read out loud. I loved it.

The Thing at the Foot of the Bed and Other Scary Tales

Childhood Memories
I had this book as a kid and have always remembered it. I read it over and over again. The stories are still vivid in my mind as are the ghost tips at the end, such as when a dog or cat is staring at something, and you can't see anything. It is probably a ghost and if you look between their ears, you'll see the ghost, too.
The book "disappeared" from my parent's home years ago. It would be fun to read it again after all of these years. Best ghost story book ever.

Scary, Funny, just plain Good!!
One of the only books at a library I would indeed read when checked out I had to find it again. I paid a pretty penny for it but well worth it. Had to share it with my daughter. I love ghost stories and so does she. The thing at the foot of the bed is hilarious if told right. The milk bottles is sad and a sweet and true story along with the hitchhiker. Read them and then read them again. It's hard to grow tired of such good writing.

The GOLD STANDARD of Use Case Texts
Given the many misconceptions in the software community regarding what use cases are, and how to develop and apply them, Bittner and Spence present a clear, pragmatic approach to use cases that focuses on the process of synthesizing use cases rather than simply the analytics of syntax, semantics, and diagrams. More than ample time is devoted to use case structure, syntax, semantics, and style. A significant percentage of the book addresses the process and logistical issues associated with team development of a use case model. Comprehensive process discussions are included regarding discovery of actors and use cases, preparing and conducting a use case workshop, finding use case mentors, building a representative team of stakeholders, reviewing use cases, and applying use cases across the lifecycle.

Chapter 10, Here There Be Dragons, will strike a chord with every experienced use case practitioner. As a consultant that develops and reviews use case models for customers, I found this chapter to be on the money. Bittner and Spence identify many improperly-used modeling techniques that often plague organizations during their initial adoption of use cases. Specifically, the sections regarding overuse of extend, include, and generalization relationships deserves much attention.

The Use Case syntax and semantics presented in Bittner and Spence's book is based on the foundational work developed by Ivar Jacobson. Straightforward and useful examples are presented for all of the use case artifacts discussed in the book. Unlike other use case texts that emphasize use case structure, form, and analytically oriented techniques, this book presents sufficient attention to notational elements and invests significantly more in describing pragmatic activities focused on synthesizing use cases that can be effectively leveraged across the lifecycle.

I have recommended Use Case Modeling to my clients as both an introductory as reference book for any project using use cases. The writing style lends itself to the entire spectrum of stakeholders involved in use case development from end users, architects, project managers, and developers.

If you are currently employing use cases, or are considering applying use cases on a project, this book is a MUST HAVE. It de-mystifies much of the confusion surrounding the practical application of use cases, and should be put on par with the early Object Oriented texts of Booch ,Rumbaugh, and Jacobson.

Brilliant Book
This book is just brilliant. Easy to read and filled with gems of advice. I highly recommend this book for beginners, intermediate and even advanced readers.Gives the theory and applies it an ATM case study to illustrate all the concepts.
If there is one book that you should own on use cases, this is THE one.

A must have for any Vonnegut fanatic
I think the best word to describe this encyclopedia is "excessive." This book has more information about Vonnegut's characters and images and phrasing than Kurt himself probably has. After spending just five minutes browsing through it, I had concerns about Marc Leeds' health; after reading the whole thing, I had grave misgivings. This is the authoritative guide to Vonnegut's works...pick it up!

Vonnegut Fans, Memory Failing You?
If you memory isn't what it used to be and you love Vonnegut, this encyclopedia is just what you need to read or reread Vonnegut's works with full knowledge of plot, character setting and historical detail. A true find and a great buy...I love this book!

Voices of the Voiceless
I have toured the USA with a production of BRUNDIBAR, the children's opera from Theresienstadt, for two years and I served on the Alabama Holocaust Commission. To truly understand Theresienstadt (Terezin) and the Holocaust this is a MUST read. Here, in their own words are relfections, poetry, and day to day recollections of Hitler's "model camp" known as Theresienstadt through the eyes of the boys from L417 who were between 12-14 years old. The book details the beginnings of the "Republic of Shkid" and using photographs, poetry, and authentic works of art, the book gives the reader a truly rare and inspiring glimpse into concentration camp life. If you really dare to begin to understand anything about the Holocaust then begin with this book! Vedem - "In the Lead" will forever lead me!

emotional ride into the odyssey of the terror of the Terezin
As the daughter of one of the authors I have heard all the stories of the holocaust and how the boys of room L417 found refuge in "Vedem" without their parents. I believe strongly that had the boys survived they would have shared a lot with the world. By simply reading a few lines of Petr Ginz's poems, art and stories you realise that he would have excelled had he had the chance which unfortunetely was cruelly torn from him. Even worse is the fact that he was not alone. Most readers do not realise that they were little boys who were taken out of their homes and away from all that they knew before the age 15 and some as young as 10.This book relates to children because it does not describe in detail the horrors but more so the small "joys" of the camp. Adults can relate because the work and articles emit the feelings of the citizens in hell. Therefore this book is truly a wonderful piece of work. For those who are interested: the book will be published in paperback soon.

Excellent DIY travelogue of Mexico
... Kurt Brecht, the lead singer of the old punk band DRI, has his own publishing company called Dirty Rotten Publishing, and this is one of his half-dozen or so books hes written, printed, and marketed by himself over the years. His writing is fairly basic and straightforward, but his stories are always incredible. Every time I read any of his books, I want to run away from my own life for a year, then return and write a book about it. This book details a month between touring and recording when he headed off into Mexico for some exploring. And no, he wasnt on the beaches of Cancun or even drinking tequila down in tijuana: his stories take place in small Mexican villages, where they slept in grass huts, ate oysters and iguanas, found peyote, and bought coral beads from the prisons. They go skindiving, get in a bus wreck, explore the whorehouses and drug cultures of the underground, and examine the ruins - all with a budget of almost zero. The whole time, Brecht's friend Kenny is terribly ill, which brings us to the title. He lost 30 pounds that month thanks to Montezumas Revenge. The book is funny, an incredibly fast read because you cant put it down, and makes me wish I could take a month off work to wander the cities south of the border. Of course, I dont want to lose the 30 pounds that way...
