Clicker Fun: Dog Tricks and Games Using Positive Reinforcement

Best starter out there
There is another book, Peggy Tillman's Clicking with your dog,
that often gets the press, but this is a much better book. Dr. Jones talks about how to get a non-interested dog interested in clicking and how to move up from there. Tillman's book gives every task a name though often does not discuss how to group them and make them into new combinations. Dr. Jones has no problem with grouping, re-grouping, organising and such activities.

This book has plenty of activities which you can start with and use for either performance or comfirmation activities plus a weekly planner. She gives lots of 'shaping' tips and problem solutions. A superb training manual. Sorry it's op.

EXCELLENT!
I review dog books. This is a seriously good book. Buy it! Dr. Ian Dunba

Perfect for a new puppy and inexperienced owner!
I bought this book on the recommendation of my dog trainer. I had never trained a dog before. I wanted to do everything right from the beginning. My charming and energetic Jack Russel responded immediantly! I am having so much fun with my new friend. Thank you, Ms. Jones, for sharing your insight with others!

Dream Big
This is a very inspiring book. When I initially started reading, it felt like just another feel good book with general advice. However as I progressed it picked up and became quite interesting. The advice given by the author is not new or unique, but offered in the context of her own life experiences, become very useful.
One shortcoming of this book, as for many books of this nature, is that it seems to address primarily a younger audience. What about the readers who are now in their mid-forties, early fifties and have less time to start over and be effective? Understandably the author is in her thirties, hence this shortcoming. Nevertheless, I wish I had a book like this available to me when I was in my twenties, because the ideas offered are inspiring and most valuable.

Great Reading!!
Using experiences from her own life, Shaw shows you how to chart a course of personal and professional success. Actually, the book is part autobiography, part "how to." Including her early setbacks and how she overcame them is what gives the book "meat." She's also a risk taker. I loved reading about how she mustered the guts to do something nobody thought she could do. She does this quite a bit! Some books just give you empty platitudes about "positive thinking," but neglect to include examples of how to handle unexpected problems. Not Shaw. She tells it all!

Deborah Shaw "Walks Her Talk"
Dream Big! is an inspirational account of a woman's journey from humble beginnings to the heights of personal and professional success. On behalf of all the members of The Women's Alliance across the country we thank Ms. Shaw for her courage and her commitment to "pay her success forward" and use her knowledge to help other women to Dream Big! If you've never heard Ms. Shaw speak before then I highly recommend that you do. I had the pleasure of hearing her keynote presentation at the Una Voz National Women's Conference on March 30th in Miami where she presented a dynamic and heartfelt account of her trail to the top.

For Alaska-lovers and foodies, this book is the greatest.
This cookbook would be fun reading even if you didn't cook! I especially loved the Alaska tidbits in the sidebars.

Buy this book!
The VERY BEST Alaskan Cookbook. You need it

Easy breads for new bakers, great seafood recipes
I live a block away from the restaurant, but find myself turning to the book to cook one of their specialities at home, especially Halibut Caddy Ganty, Pasta Greta Garbo, or some of their hearty soups.

This book finally inspired me to start baking my own bread again, too. Their basic whole wheat bread recipe is great for a single person since it's for one loaf.

This is a wonderful book for seafood lovers, especially if you want to impress your friends with some inspired fish recipes. It's obvious that the cooks who wrote this book love cooking, and want readers to enjoy it too!

Bringing Respect, History and Beauty Back to Thanksgiving
I found this book to be a joyful read. We can hardly wait for Thanksgiving to use it at our table, but already I have learned more about my own history than I knew before. A retired teacher visiting from Germany saw the book laying on the table and read it, delighted with its illustrations and information. She was sure, she said, that this book would make a wonderful English lesson book for the children in Germany. I agreed, and suggest that the author consider submitting the book to some schools in the States as a text. Here is a charming treatment of a wonderful American holiday, and one which should help bring the family together--as we once were on Thanksgiving--giving thanks, for each other, for God's goodness and especially for our opportunity to live in this great nation.

Great Fun and Educational Book
What a great idea to write a fun and interactive book about the history of Thanksgiving!! My kids loved it, it brought the story of our great-great-grandparents back into our lives. The entire family enjoyed the games and the "Think About It" sections. It will make our next Thanksgiving a bit more special and may even bring some hard-core football addicts back to the family Thanksgiving dinner table.

Mash potatos and Gravy
This book is destined to be an American classic. Beautifully designed, this book delivers family fun on the Thanksgiving holiday!

Knights in Shining Armor Sometimes Play Guitars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It starts of as what appears to be a breezy summer read with plenty of romance and some hot and heavy sex scenes thrown in for good measure. However, the denouement reveals that the book is much more than this. All the loose ends are tied together beautifully in the thought-provoking ending. The spirituality of the book really gets one thinking about the relationships in one's life. Why are we drawn to the people in our lives? What purpose do we serve in the lives of others? Do the choices we make in life have a greater cosmic significance than we know? Read this book. Laugh, cry, fantasize, enjoy, and reflect on your own place in the universe and the effect your actions have on others in this world and in the greater cosmic realm.

Pause and Savor and Make It Last!
Knights in Shining Armor Sometimes Play Guitars is a
contemporary romance that refuses to be categorized by
normal standards. It is romance, it is how to be a
great lover, it is suspense, most of all it is a love
story. You will fall in love with Johanna, a brilliant
mid-management executive and Ian, a rock star from the
sixties who is enjoying continual fame and revival, as
they fall in love with each other. The fact that
Johanna has followed his career and had a secret crush
on him for the past 25 years plays a part in their
co-incidental meeting. D.P. McHenry draws the
characters so fully formed you set aside the knowledge
that you are reading fiction. The warmth of the
characters, the realistic trials, tribulations and
triumphs will have you laughing as they appreciate
life, crying as they miss each other through
circumstances out of their control and cheering as
everything seems to be winding down to a satisfactory
conclusion. Sensual love scenes tastefully done are a
great plus for this wonderful read.

Suddenly, you realize that Johanna and Ian's love
story has come full circle they are together. Then
your heart sinks because fate has to drop kick the
hero, heroine, or both, into some horrendous trial
because you are only at the halfway point in the book.
D.P. McHenry throws in her first twist here. The first
part of the book aptly titled 'Lady Slippers and Fairy
Dust' is over. Kate's Story part 2- the woman who the
book is really about, has just begun. DP McHenry has
created every woman's fantasy the perfect romance with
the perfect man in the Fairy Dust part 1. Which is
also the book Kate wrote we discover in part 2. The
book she has written to encompass her fantasy begins
to create eerie similarities to her real life. A book
signing and television appearance signal a start of
events that rival a King or Koontz novel for suspense.
This is no ordinary romance story told in the normal
order. It is not easy to tell you how the two parts
connect, but connect perfectly they do. The author has
skill fully manipulated the plot to ensure continuity
and an engaging read.
First, the reader becomes entangled -happily and
willingly - in Kate's life, but now it's hard to
separate her life from Johanna and Simon's life from
Ian's. The author is not through with us yet she
isn't about to tell us a sweet love story we thought
we were reading in the beginning. Hero meets heroine,
they fall in love, they sleep together, they live
happily every after, sorry this is not Knights in
Shining Armor... D.P. McHenry mimics real life with a few
more twists and turns that catapult the story into
high gear as we race toward the end. We cry for Kate,
we want to shake her for not seeing what we see. Our
hearts ache for Simon, because he can't see the
anguish Kate is going through that matches his own.
The final twist terror squeezing our hearts as we
follow the people we have grown to love and we find

ourselves praying for the happy endings that all love
stories have, though we are never sure. We are hanging
on by the skillful thread D.P. McHenry tethers us with
to the story.

The lyrics Ian/Simon write for Johanna/Kate are the
thread tying the two stories into a book you'll stay
up nights to read. You will want to set the book aside
after each chapter to savor the romantic renderings of
each. Until nearly the end, you will not be in a big
hurry to read forward as it is so much fun to loll in the
forever romantic of McHenry's portrayal of the woman
we all wish we were. For this reason, towards the
end, McHenry pulls out all the stops, drops a bomb on
the reader and then you need to race through the book
to the satisfying - you hope - conclusion.

Mc Henry knows what keeps a reader reading -
believable characters with a believable story. I would
highly recommend this book to the romantic in all of
us, but also for those who want an engaging story told
with the skill of a master. Don't think women only.
Men who are interested in becoming every woman's
fantasy, learn how. Read Knights in Shinning Armor
Sometimes Play Guitars and I guarantee you, you will
not have to play the guitar to snare a mate.

Rock Chick Heaven!
Admit it - what woman hasn't dreamt of actually meeting the rock star she's idolized? And what if he then falls in love with her? "Knights in Shining Armor" explores this theme, and much else, in such a believable style that you are quickly caught up in the dilemma. The work is actually a "book within a book" with two very aproachable and likable heroines, well drawn, even glamourous male characters (both heroes and villians),and warm and sensous love scenes. This is romance for the woman who is not afraid to grapple with the moral and spiritual issues of who and how to love, who is willing to work hard to suceed both in love and in life, and never lose the willingness to laugh at the world or herself. A delightful take on "It could happen to you!"

woolly mammoth meatballs a la mode
These guys could concoct a recipe for woolly mammoth meatballs a la mode, and I'd be willing to try it. Talk about imaginative, tongue-massaging food! But the recipes need to be examined closely, particulary with regards to proportion. The amount of liquid called for in the ancho-bock smashers is excessive, as is the amount of salt in the butternut squash, granny smith apple soup. Despite these glaring errors, this was without a doubt THE BEST COOKBOOK I purchased last year. Twice!

Fabulous, entertaining and surprisingly useful!
This is one of, if not the best cookbook of the year. You don't have to be the world's best cook to enjoy it and create successful meals. And a great gift idea! Bon Appetit!

An interactive culinary feast for the senses(all 6 of them)!
This tasty piece of literature invites you to open your soul take a deep breath and dive in! As you become saturated in it's contents you realize this is not just about cooking fearlessly this is about living fearlessly! Come up for air and then go deep to discover the intense splashes of color seasoned with just the right amount of humor make the flamboyant artwork as appetizing as its gastronomical counterparts! This coupled with amazing photography and damn good writing make this a fascinating read that is sure to stimulate your creative and digestive juices simultaneously! Katherine the Great

Excellent for Beginners !
Anyone who is new to Visual Basic 4.0 or those who are migrating / upgrading from Visual Basic 3.0 to Visual Basic 4.0 , will find this book as the basic tool to Object-Oriented approach in Visual Basic. Author has given some good ideas to tackle class hierarchy , not supported by VB. This is a must buy for all Visual Basic 4.0 learners who want to develop Business Objects in VB 4. But a serious developer who has already done programming in VB 4 may not find this book as very informative , for most of the subjects described may have been already done by him. (By the time I got this book I had already done a lot !) Hence , ABC learners must go for it but practical developers must use the experience they have

A must-read guide to project design and development in VB
I was surprised to find the first half the book devoted to project and object design with very little code. Yet these sections turned out to be far more compelling than the (excellent) coding techniques that followed. I found the book an invaluable source for the more intangible side of programming: rather than teach dozens of techniques for coding yourself into misery, the author demonstrates how to design one's objects and applications correctly from the beginning. I can honestly say the book has saved me days, if not weeks, of effort by showing me how to design first and code later

Fantastics book! Order it now!
If you are an experienced programmer looking to get into the Object Oriented side of VB, buy this book! Deborah Kurata and ZD have done an excellent job of laying the foundations of OO for you. All you have to do is read the book

How to unleash the vast creative potential of employees
Douglas McGregor's seminal works, The Human Side of Enterprise and The Professional Manager, debunked Taylorism and described a revolutionary way to manage people. He was the first to apply the findings in behavioural science to the world of business. Based on what had been learned about human behaviour, McGregor explored the implications of managing people in a different manner than tradition dictated.

Authors Gary Heil, Deborah Stephens and Warren Bennis assert that the nature of work today makes McGregor's ideas more important and relevant than ever before. This book revisits in a contemporary manner the most important question facing management today: given what we know about human nature, how should work be managed so as to unleash the vast creative potential of human beings? It applies McGregor's thinking to today's business world, proving again that the human aspect of work is crucial to organisational effectiveness. It also suggests how you can change your thinking and implement his ideas in your own business and workplace.

The authors carefully outline how to put McGregor's thinking into practice in your own business so you can devise a better performance management system, form and supervise effective management teams, build cooperation instead of internal competition, cultivate an intrinsically motivating, values-driven workplace and create a cause worthy of employee commitment.

McGregor's Work is Classic!
McGregor's work is classic. This is required reading for executives.

Dr. Michael Beitler
Author of "Strategic Organizational Change"

What a wonderful book!
This book is a real gem. The 140 pages or so of outline on McGregor's ideas is invaluable. I've read Human Side Of Enterprise, but the way the authors explain theory Y brought a lot of light to my understanding of McGregor's ideas. McGregor's ideas reach much farther than I realized, and the authors are virtuosos at explaining the real profundity in the Human Side of Enterprise. I recommend this book highly, even to those well versed in this stuff. I also learned a lot by the modern examples (like Lincoln Electric and Herman Miller) of companies which follow theory Y. Douglas McGregor does not have all the answers. But even if McGregor is not the last word on management, all future thinkers will have to grapple with the ideas and the questions (so many!) that he put forth.

Essential reading for our middle and high school students
EveryBody is just the sort of honest, compassionate work to open the dialogues we must be having with our middle and high school students. Deborah Schoeberlein did thorough research, not only in HIV risk factors and trasmission, but in educational models so that teens will listen. School districts, youth groups, health classes need EveryBody.

Youth really learn with Everybody Curriculum
One of the unique aspects of the Everybody model is that is very interactive and help youth to be fully engage in the learning process. I am using Everybody Curriculum in my skills building training with youth. I found students really learn a lot about this disease, their own attitudes toward prevention and how to be respectful of their lives.

"Everybody:..., Revised Edition"
Absolutely first rate. The best literature on the subject.

lovely story, but...
The only complaint I have about this book is that the caterpillar disappears into a chrysalis -- not a cocooon. The last Painted Lady butterflies we had (a watch-your-caterpillar-change-into-a-butterfly kit) all spun cocoons - no chrysalis!

THE Book to accompany Butterfly Houses, Pavillions
We got this book in addition to a home "Butterfly Pavillion" by InsectLore. It prepared my son and us for what to expect as the Painted Lady Butterflies were developing through each stage. So even during the lulls in the action, we could spark some anticipation. Which heightened the whole process for my 5 year old.
We also found out this book is used at his kindergarten for their butterfly learning.
This is the first Let's-Read-And-Find-Out book we've bought and were impressed enough to want to get the other books in the series.

A peek inside a mystery
This book is the perfect accompaniment to spring! Even if you can't bring a caterpillar into your classroom, you can still share the magic and mystery of their turning into butterflies with this wonderful book. The tone is so kid-friendly, kids will be learning without even realizing it. A great resource!
