The book not only inlcudes explicit explanations of Internet terms and procedures, but includes plenty of figures and examples of what the screen would actually look like as you are working. The Email to You sections contain real teachers describing real projects that they have sucessfully done with their students. Leu and Leu also provide many, many links to resources and project ideas in the major academic disciplines for teachers to use as they begin to incorporate the Internet in to the classroom.
I would highly recommend this book to teachers and teacher educators alike. I consider my self to be an advanced user of the Internet and I learned several new things from reading this book!

The first murder victim, Notting Hill resident Dawn Arrowsmith, is also pregnant with her lover's baby; her husband, wealthy antique dealer Karl, had a vasectomy years ago.(Those readers who saw the Julia Roberts/Hugh Grant film, "Notting Hill", can easily visualize the gentrified neighborhood.)
As usual with Crombie's work, the plot quickly thickens and the reader's interest will intensify accordingly. Several mother/child relationships are uncovered as Gemma pursues the killer. (I wonder if Crombie herself was pregnant while writing this book. One would think so.)
"And Justice There is None" is a mystery done up to perfection, including authentic British-English (Car Park for parking lot, Inland Revenue for IRS, mobile for cell phone, and so on) despite the fact that Crombie lives in Texas. Recommended.

Meanwhile, James is investigating the brutal homicide of a lovely young woman named Dawn Arrowood. Dawn had a much older husband and a young lover, and either one might have killed her in a fit of anger or jealousy. The case becomes more complicated when Duncan ties it to a similar unsolved murder. Soon, a third murder occurs, and the pressure is on for James and Kincaid to find the perpetrator quickly.
Crombie brings a whole array of characters to vivid life in this novel. There is Dawn's husband, Karl, an antiques dealer who has tried to forget his humble beginnings, and who now behaves with ruthless arrogance. Dawn's lover, Alex, is also an antiques dealer, but, unlike Karl, he is extremely sensitive and emotional. Also figuring in the complicated plot is Angel, a mysterious woman who descends into poverty and hopelessness when her parents die. Suddenly, a handsome man who pretends to be her savior rescues her, but Angel finds out that her rescuer is not the man that he appears to be. All of these people are inextricably bound together, and only by understanding how these and other lives have interconnected in the past, can Duncan and Gemma get to the bottom of the murders. In addition, Duncan's and Gemma's relationship is strained not only by the challenging homicide investigation, but also by the impending changes in their domestic arrangements.
"And Justice There is None," is a deeply felt psychological novel that deals with the nature of true love and commitment, as opposed to relationships based on infatuation and manipulation. Crombie also explores one of the favorite themes of mystery writers, namely how the secrets of the past come back to haunt people many years later. This is a well-written and intricate mystery that will enthrall Crombie's fans and leave them eager for the next novel in the series.

The characters are unique and intriguing and interact in such a fresh way that I was immediately interested in them. Sinclair Readford is the woman I sometimes let myself be, riding off half-cocked with a full mission. Jefferson is the dream man every woman would want, except for his emotional unavailability (typical of men who have been hurt in the past). The supporting characters are funny, plain talking folk and perfect sounding boards for the surprising emotions shared and revealed by Jefferson and Sinclair.
I loved how the story starts off like a wild horse bucking captivity and the way Schneider keeps that horse on a loose reign throughout the book, leaving the ending as unpredictable as Sinclair herself. In the first chapter, Sinclair starts out as a privileged, well-educated young woman with a cocky confidence that leaves her in her undergarments taking a ride from a cowboy she has never met, but must trust with her immediate welfare.
A humorous, enjoyable read for any book lover, this story will make you feel like you have had a fun, adventurous ride on a fast horse when you are through. I enjoyed it so much, I am reading it again. Yeehaw!

Price is a licensed investment advisor and stockbroker. She is now a money coach consultant. She has condensed her more than fifteen years experience into a process called money therapy.
She explains that we are not meant to spend our lives shopping and working to pay off debt. The purpose of her book, she says, is "to help you remember the purpose of your life: the original purpose." Money is only one of the many tools available for achieving that purpose.
Price advises people to start building the life they want before they have money. Too many people waste their lives waiting for money to come first, and are still unhappy if it does come. She details how to build a strong foundation based on what you truly want from life, and then how to manifest the money needed to achieve your goals.
Over the years, she's observed eight "money types," based on how people feel about money. These are the innocent, victim, warrior, martyr, fool, creator/artist, tyrant, and the money magician. The money types are meant to be a "guide to discovering the impact of your past experiences with money and to changing your approach in the future." Price describes the weaknesses and strengths of each, and explains how people can turn themselves into money magicians who have all that they need and the ability to enjoy it. She's included a simple quiz to help readers determine which type they are.
She emphasizes throughout the book that the only real value that money has is the value we give to it. Money itself is just pieces of paper. We forget this, and attribute power to money. This leads feeling out of control and making financial choices based on fear.
Price has filled Money Therapy with advice on how to overcome negative and fearful feelings about money. She provides "practical steps toward acknowledging the hold of money on our minds and emotions and then using those insights to create not only a better relationship to money but also the wealth and prosperity we desire."

The first book of the series (Murder of a Small-Town Honey) really caught my attention, but it carried the duty (and the pleasure) of setting up the Scumble River background and letting the readers get to know Skye, her family, and the various characters of Scumble River. The book was wonderful and I would recommend reading it first, but then I try to always read the first book in a series before any of the others. I didn't like the second book, Murder Of a Sweet Old Lady, nearly as well as the first book. As a school psychologist, Skye sometimes has to come in contact with unhappy parents, and since she has the unfortunate habit of stumbling over dead bodies, she often ends up dealing with unhappy suspects. In the second book she was occasionally threatened or physically assaulted (albeit in a mild way) by male parents or suspects, yet didn't report it to the police. I thought that was completely out of character for Skye, who is a very assertive heroine. Thankfully, the third book completely restored my faith in the series. It seemed to me that the characters and the town of Scumble River just completely came together in this book, and I felt that I knew the characters without having to work to understand why they would react in a certain way, or without having to work out who the character was and how they were related to Skye. The book deals with the timely issue of the media and the image of perfection we are faced with constantly as we watch television and read magazines, and the consequences that expectation of perfection can have on children (and adults, as well), yet it doesn't have a preachy tone at all. I look forward to many more Scumble River books. Denise Swanson's Scumble River series has now joined my short list of cozy series that I will buy without even reading a review...

Skye has to deal with the morning students and help Chief of Police Walter Boyd discover the murderer. This isn't easy. Wally is upset with Skye. Skye had a crush on Wally when she was 15 and he was 23. They never dated. Recently he felt she betrayed his trust. This was made even worse because his wife, Darlene, betrayed his trust by leaving with another man.
Since Wally is so upset, Skye has to get information for this case through her mom, a police dispatcher, and Simon Reid, coroner and former boyfriend -- not a great situation either.
Lorelei and her sister, as well as Lorelei's best friend are in beauty pageants. The parents are so in to this that there are stories abounding that Mrs. Ingels and Lorelei pulled many pranks so that the competition would be out. Of course, none of the pranks could be proven to have been done by them. Skye takes her 2 nieces to a couple pageants to see things first hand.
This book has many twists. The people are very believable and the book has a true small town flavor. I always look forward to the next book in this series. Can't wait to find out about Skye's next adventures and more about her love life, which is always in flux.

Skye is stonewalled by parents and students alike as she tries to find out who Lorelei really was. She appears to have been a popular student, but sometimes popularity comes with a price. Skye must find out if the price in this case was murder.
MURDER OF A SLEEPING BEAUTY is an enjoyable mystery. It moves along nicely and holds a reader's interest. It is well-plotted and well-written. I particularly like that the protagonist is "full-figured" and easy to relate to.
Denise Swanson has a winning series here. Scumble River is a place I'll visit again and again!

Bea Bartling has been praying for her son to come home and her prayers are not answered the way she thinks they should be. Instead, sometimes you find out that the one is charge of everything knows more about what we need then we do.
The characters are plausible and the dialogue is good. I will look for more books by this author.

Both my mother and I would love to see another book with these same characters.

I highly recommend this book to any variety of children. It is a quick read but at the same time it's very intriguing. I relished this book because it is a true story about a real girl who really lived. It captures your attention and doesn't let it go until the very end!

Each chapter offers lyrical insight on what it means to be human. Read about cutting an onion in "The First Session" and you'll never take an onion for granted again. "Wave Breast and Heave Shoulder" is one of the most beautiful and biblical passages in the entire book. I have read the final pages of "The Burning Heart" many, many times and never fail to be moved. Some sections of the book are reminiscent of Annie Dillard's descriptive style in Pilgrim at Tinker Creek or some of the best of M.F.K. Fisher's writings. Capon's salty observations balance the high spirituality, creating a complex blend of philosophy and kitchen craft.
As Capon himself says, "We were given appetites, not to consume the world and forget it, but to taste its goodness and hunger to make it great." This book continues to inspire my writing, my cooking, and my spirituality. If you want a flavorful literary feast, buy The Supper of the Lamb. I highly recommend Robert Farrar Capon's other books as well. Each one is a treasure.

Capon is a true wild man. He has become one of my favorite authors (His book Between Noon and Three is one of my top ten). "The Supper of the Lamb" is earlier, yet vintage Capon.
The book is indeed a cookbook. It is also so much more. What the reader will find here, besides the recipes, are reflections on life and reality. The theme of Ferial cooking is transferred to a kind of manifesto on Ferial living. Capon sees food, and life as well, through a lens of wonder.
Capon's book is really a recipe for living life more fully. While his recipes for food are great, it is this "larger" recipe that holds the greatest appeal for me.
I recommend "The Supper of the Lamb" to you with all my heart.

There were also areas where I felt the author should have included more information. For example, she referenced Vitamin C - rather than providing multiple examples of how Vitamin C saved dogs, I would have preferred some guidance on the various types of Vitamin C so I know which one I should purchase? Calcium Ascorbate, Ascorbic Acid, Ester-C, Sodium Ascorbate? What are the differences?
Another area of disappointment was that there was almost nothing on prednisone. Recently in talking to many folks whose dogs have been diagnosed with cancer, they leave the vet's office with prednisone when chemo is rejected as an alternative. The book was not helpful in this area at all. I am no wiser than before I read the book.
Above are just two of many examples where I felt the book did not contain sufficient information.
I began to question the accuracy of information in the book when I came to the section on chiropratics. I am familiar with chiropractics and was disappointed that she used incorrect terminology, did not seem to have her facts correct and referenced negative examples only. If she was not an advocate of chiropractics or was not familiar with the topic, she should have written nothing rather than to print inaccurate information.
I'm glad I bought and read the book; but I'm also glad it was not very expensive because I had to buy other books to fill in the gaps of missing information, as I cited above. I plan recommend the book to friends who have dogs with cancer. Although it is not an outstanding book, it is better than most I have read.
